Vitali Klitschko vs. Tomasz Adamek in 2011 at Madison Square Garden
By Jim Dower: World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KO’s) could be the first of the Klitschko brothers to get a stab at heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek (42-1, 27 KO’s) next year in 2011. However, that’s if the 33-year-old Adamek can get by his next opponent 38-year-old Lance Whitaker (35-6-1, 28 KO’s), who will likely be fighting Adamek in November or December this year.
Perhaps it’s his vulnerability that makes Adamek so appealing to HBO and some boxing fans, because he didn’t look at all impressive in beating Jason Estrada, Chris Arreola and most recently 38-year-old Michael Grant at heavyweight. Adamek was hurt several times in a 12 round decision win over Grant on August 21st.
Although Grant threw very few punches in the fight, he gave Adamek problems just about every time he opened up with his offense. A fight between Vitali and Adamek would likely amount to a slaughter because Adamek just doesn’t seem to have the same kind of talent that the Klitschko brothers possess.
I kind of had my doubts that Adamek would get matched up with Wladimir Klitschko, the IBF/WBO heavyweight champion, because with his superb jab, fast hands, massive power and range, he would likely dispatch Adamek within a few rounds.
At least Vitali, Adamek will be able to survive for a little while by running around the ring. He won’t be competitive or win any rounds but he’ll survive for a while until Vitali catches up to him and knocks him out.

Humm difficult to say ! Wlad didnt fight with anybody from the top shelf for a long time and Adamek is definitely from the Top of the Tops. Wlad is slightly bigger a bit heavier and 3 years Older. If Adamek wins he will win on Points definitely not by KO. Anyway I would love to see Adamek as a new champ of the champs ! :]
GL ADAMEK !
I would match Adamek vs Haye first, if he wins than i would go for klitschko. I think Adamek has a big chance against him, he fought good heavyweight boxers and won, didnt dominate all of them but won. That proves a point who he is, especially when he just crossed over to heavyweight division and is not scared to fight anyone..
I think it is TOO early for this fight YET. Adamek will need to add few more pounds and beat few more opponents before he tackles Klitschko. But if it happens late 2011 and Adamek keeps his winning streak against rivals similar to Klitschko he definately could win the fight. BUT lets see few more exciting fights before it comes down to this fight. Klitschko is experienced and smart fighter and I would not understimate his potential.
Adamek Granite chin will become a broken chin vs a Klitschko
Atlas cancelled the fight for Povetkin. He let him know he wasn’t ready and there went the fight. I believe Povetkin would fight either Klitschko but he will trust his trainer Atlas, and he should. He just doesn’t have what it takes to beat either brother at this point. Maybe when they slow down more and he gets better. I assume that’s what Atlas is waiting for.
Latest word from Teddy Altlas on why the Klitschko vs Povetkin fight fell throug. Povetkin’s mommy called him out sick.
Adamek is a welcome change of pace to the current crop of heavyweights who fear fighting the Klitschko’s. Haye, Povetkin and Valuev all opted out of a fight with the Klitscho’s. Gone are the days when a heavyweitht would jump at a chance to fight the champ. Teddy Atlas could not talk his protege into taking on one of the Klitschko’s. It’s kind of ironic for Teddy Atlas because he is always bad mouthing the Klitschko’s, yet could not get his fighter to fight Vladimir. I beiliev his excuse for not attending the pre fight press conference was that he had a runny nose (er…excuse me a sinus condition!)
It will be like a cat and a mouse in the garden.
Adamek v Haye would be the best option for both fighters. For Adamek it would be a much easier prospect than the Klitschko’s being more or less the same size as Haye. Having watched Haye v Ruiz I couldn’t help notice Ruiz was able to get at Haye on numerous occasions but his age was evident with both speed and stamina and he lacked any real defense. I think if Adamek could get in like Ruiz did Haye would be in trouble and he could really hurt him and if he did manage to claim the WBA title he could face either Wlad or Vitali with a lot more clout and with huge American interest and especially HBO interest and could retire with a huge payday even in defeat.
For Haye it would be a great option because he would get credibility for facing a highly regarded opponent for whom he would have a good chance of victory and of course receiving a substantial purse which as most people agree is what he desires most.
Are you guys putting out your feelers on this one? Im sold. But the logical fight and competitive fight would be Daid Haye. Vitali would put his large foot up where the sun dont shine with Tomasz. Adamek has no chance. But with Haye it would be evenly matched. As far as November is concerned he cant waste his time on Whitaker. How bout Ruslan Chagaev? Cmon Tomasz be a little adventurous.
I don’t know how credible the source is….sounds like BS to me…
Should be a cracking fight if it happens!
Vitali slowed dowm might have a chance
Look at Adamek, not scared to fight ANYONE at heavy, unlike Haye! I see Vitali being WAT too much for Thomas but what balls!!!
