Maidana the second option for Khan if Amir can’t fight Marquez on December 4th

By William Mackay: World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (28-1, 27 KO’s) is supposedly the second option for WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) if his proposed fight against lightweight Juan Manuel Marquez falls through for December 4th. Right now, it’s looking like that fight will happen, but Maidana is the supposed to be the second option for Khan, according to the latest boxing news. My question is why is Maidana always the second option for Khan? Shouldn’t Maidana be the first option by now? He’s already been waiting over a year and still hasn’t gotten even close to a fight with Khan.
I hope Maidana does get the shot against Khan if the Marquez fight doesn’t happen for him, but I somehow can see Maidana getting passed over once again for someone else, probably Victor Ortiz. Khan has to fight a top guy soon in the light welterweight division, but I think Ortiz will likely be the one that gets selected rather than Maidana. They may say that Maidana is the second choice for Khan, but I’ll believe that when I see Khan stepping up and fighting him next if the Marquez fight doesn’t happen or fighting after the Marquez fight. I don’t see that happening.

Fighting Khan will only have Marquek get another fishball eye. He won’t be able to handle Amir’s speed & reach. Marquek’s PEDs & pee might take him to the last round but expect the crybaby to sourgrape like a child if Amir wins by decision only.
anybody here that thinks maidana is better than marquez should just go shoot themselves.marquez would school maidana so its def a harder fight for khan.
Khan will box maidana down. He got knocked out by prescotts bombs,but so would any lightweight. He’s way better than you haters think, you best give him credit when he dominates the division. Same article, same comments, but I agree he needs to prove you wrong. He will.
The khan is the king . Every great fighter has to choose he’s next victim, until someone catches them being a victim likes of PAC man , mayweather, Roy jones. Until we see golden boy put king khan with real young 140 pounder , just enjoy the show , it’s actually fun .

khan is no good period. fight Victor Ortiz at 140 or fight Marquez at 135… If Khan wins then he will get some respect.
Khan is fast and a good boxer but as no chin and when he does meat a puncher it will be game over..

Amir many people who truly know the noble art are realy getting fed up with all this talk, when are you actualy intending to share a ring with a meaningful apponant? instead of just talking about sharing one.

What will it prove if Kahn beats Marquez?? Ring magazine rates Marquez as no 5 P4P. (a fighter who in my eyes beat the current P4P no 1 fighter twice) It will prove Kahn can beat a true world class legendary fighter. The fact that you are implying Kahn will win this fight with reative ease (I’m a kahn fan but thinks this is a tough fight) shows how much deep down you really rate Kahn. if the Alexander vs Bradley fight has been made (which i believe is 98% done) then the only fighters Khan should face are Maidana or Ortiz.

Never as long as you write NEVER compare Paul the Punisher Williams to Amir Khan. No one wants to fight P Will while everyone wants to fight Khan. Khan is an easy pay day for a good fighter. I can’t understand how Khan is more popular then a warrior like P Will. Khan won’t even fight the guys in his division. Mark my words. Marquez will take Khan to hell and back. i dont see them putting him in with ortiz either to be honest ortiz carries just a s much power as maidana which would still be very risky for khan. we all no that it will be the smaller older marquez so they can bubble wrap khan some more. marquez was awsome in the diaz fight he is so tough khan will never stop him but on points i see khan winning unfortunately.
