Molina Jr. defeats Lundy
By Jason Kim: Once beaten lightweight contender John Molina Jr. (21-1, 17 KOs) stopped Hank Lundy (18-1-1, 10 KO’s) in the 11th round on Friday night in an exciting action packed fight at the River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Molina, who likes to brawl perhaps a bit too much, had problems earlier in the fight with Lundy’s hand speed and boxing ability.
However, Molina’s power bailed him out, as he was able to drop Lundy in the 8th with a tremendous right hand to the head. Molina Jr. continued to apply a great deal of pressure, staying on top of Lundy and forcing him to fight much harder than he was used to doing in his prior fights. As the rounds wore on, Lundy began to fade ever so slightly until the 11th when Molina opened up with a salvo of big blasts, landing one shot after another until the referee stepped in and halted the fight.
In other action on the card, super middleweight Vladine Biosse (7-0, 4 KOs) defeated Joey McCreedy (11-5-2, 6 KOs) by an eight round unanimous decision. The final judges’ scores were 79-73, 79-73, 78-74.
