Khan and Bradley battle it out on Twitter

By Eric Thomas: Earlier today, World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) went at it against WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (26-0, 11 KO’s) on their Twitter pages, talking trash to each other.
From reading what Khan and Bradley had to say to each other, it’s pretty clear that they genuinely dislike each other intensely.
Khan wants to fight Marquez next, and his promoters from Golden Boy Promotions really like this fight. However, it’s a fight that may not win a lot of respect for Khan in the boxing world, because fans now see Khan as a light welterweight, and may have a hard time understanding why Khan is choosing to fight a lightweight instead of the WBA light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana.
Below is some of what Khan and Bradley had to say on their Twitter pages:
Khan: “I’m sorry but you may look tough but it takes a real man to step into the ring with [me] and last one round! I have left it with my promotion team and gave them a list of good names I want to fight. Nothing has been picked yet but they have my orders. Bro, sorry to say this but if you got in ring with me, you would get knocked out. [Marcos] Maidana has a bad back. I wanted him. You say you want to fight but indirectly you don’t. You over price yourself and say I’m scared. Come on! Remember one thing: I’d beat everyone who you bea.t I’d KO them, in fact.[Timothy Bradley] is dying for a pay day. Tell him get in the queue of better opponents and wait his turn to get knocked out. Your turn will come. Just get in the queue. I want to face the better bunch of opponents first.”
Bradley: “After the [Paulie] Malignaggi fight you said you would fight [Marcus] Maidana and I fight [Devon] Alexander. Well you got to back it up now. I’m not going to talk trash about [Khan]. You’re supposed to be a role model and you’re bragging about money.
Like I said before, HUMBLE YOURSELF! I’m not broke at all. I have money to support my family. It’s a shame your life is driven by money and you have no ambitions. Overprice myself? What is you talking about? Gary Shaw and Richard [Schaefer] haven’t even discussed financial details. Your ego is too big. Humble yourself before someone shatters your glass jaw! You paid Maidana step aside money.
Who’s your mandatory? Maidana. Follow me so I can DM you back. lol Amir, you’re showing your immaturity, dude. It isn’t about a pay day; It’s about unifying the titles and respect. If you face Maidana next, fair enough. He’s your mandatory, but if you face Marquez, you know there will be a backlash against you. You got to be a man and tell Richard Schaefer you want to face legit 140 pounders, not blown up lightweights. Dude, what you talking about? Believe in my own hype? I’ve beaten Holt, [Lamont] Peterson, [Junior] Witter, [Nate] Campbell. I deserve a pay day. Until you face me, you will never get the respect, period! So who you going to face next then? I think the prescott knock out has done more damage to Khan than we thought, Khan does not have the punching power to trouble any of the current lightwelter champs; Khan doesn’t want Bradley he is already talking his way out of it. With or without Freddie roach this man is a regular fighter. Nothing special. He can’t beat Bradley or Alexander and doesn’t have the stones for maidana. Khan is fast and throws allot of powder puff punchers, but no power be hide them, he has a glass chin, or he did have unless Freddy Roach waved a magic wand and toughed it up.
at 140 he tends to overwhelm opponent with punch volume rather than power.

Although Khan is a great fighter and has a good chance of beating Bradley on points theres no way on earth that he could knock him out.
My criticism of Khan is the fact he was Given a million pounds to turn pro,he then avoided the more dangerous domestic and European fighter,and has had a stage manage career ever since,but yes if he fight the top men and beats them yes, but i don’t like him he to Arrogant!! i liked Naz he was a great showman and had dynamite in both hands,Khan needs to keep his big mouth shut and up his game,all the fight fans i know say the same.

I think it would been a good test for Khan as Marques has still got some think left in the tank and has some heavy shots but overall khan has got allot more going for him in hight reach speed and youth but calling some one out and actually fighting them is two different things as Khan has called every body out bar Jackie Chan and that only because he’s dead,the question is how long can they keep him away from the more dangerous opponents,because every one is saying the same thing he a protected fighter.

mark. The big difference between khan and froch is that carl is 33 and is taking the big fights because his career has not long to go. He also isn’t going to improve like a young fighter will.

I agree with Bernard here, I want Khan to do as well as any of my fellow countrymen and take the best out there at the same time, which is why I have a lot of time for Carl Froch, love him or loathe him, there is no name he dosnt want to fight out there.
I seriously think Khan would beat Bradley, both have speed, but Khan has a big edge in power and as questionable as Khans chin is I dont think Bradley will make a stoppage, when was his last one (Nate Campbell dosnt count and was declared a no-contest anyway)
All most genuine participants and followers of the game realy want to see is Khan get in the ring with a decent prospect who posseses a good shot on him,Its nothing to do with hating Khan or any other silly racial comments that some fools kep mentioning.It matters not to genuine people what colour creed or religion tfighters are just as long as they prove their worth by taking on all commers including the very best which up to now camp Khan have deffinately failed to do.

khan at the end said it was all just a laugh. No surprises that isn’t mentioned here. Still it is good that the fighters are getting some publicity and hopefully hbo want this fight to happen this year.
I hope Bradley gets this fight and wipes the floor with Khan but personally i think Maidana or Alexander are the men for the job!

Amir Khan is talking nonesense, telling Bradley to cue up? Bradley is the number one rated fighter at jr welterweight! Bradley has fought far better opposition in his career. Khan should not fight Marquez next he should fight Bradley, Khan said on twitter after the Abregu fight “this is the 1st time Bradley has called me out,i’m going to talk to Golden boy and make the fight happen”. Bradley called Khan out before that fight, him and his promoter Gary Shaw after the Lamont Peterson fight said they would go over to England and “kick Khan’s ass”
The fight needs to happen, if Khan wants respect he needs to fight Bradley plain and simple, whether you think he’s overrated or not he is the number1 at 140, having unified the titles over the past few years.
khan didn’t pay maidana step aside money..no-one has to face 2 mandatories in their first 2 defences. he’s got a year and a half from his win over salita to face maidana.

Whether you like Khan or not – he will beat the impossibly over-rated Bradley. Amir Khan hits hard and fast, Bradley just wouldn’t be able to handle it. And anyone who says otherwise is deluding themselves. Khan would have more of a problem with someone like Maidana though i still think Khan would beat him.
I really hope this light-welter super6 comes off – Bradley, Alexander, Khan, Maidana, Ortiz and another – would be amazing.
