Image: Kalle Sauerland says "The judges won't be needed" for Froch-Abraham boutBy Scott Gilfoid: Kalle Sauerland, the promoter for Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s), doesn’t think the judges will be needed for the September stage 3 Super Six bout between Abraham and former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s). Sauerland said this in response to the bellyaching from Froch, who is overly worried about not being able to win a decision if the Abraham-Froch fight takes place in Germany. Ever since Froch lost his stage 2 Super Six bout to Mikkel Kessler by a 12 round unanimous decision in April in a fight in Kessler’s home country of Denmark, Froch has been stressing about not losing another by what he feels is an unfair decision.

In an interview at Sportal.de, Sauerland said “We are still in talks about the venue, but we believe the judges wont be needed that evening. Arthur [Abraham] was at the Kessler-Froch fight and has identified weaknesses in Froch’s style.” Well, it’s not hard to find a weakness in Froch’s style of fighting. Heck, a blind man could point out all the mistakes Froch makes when he fights, starting with that awful European stand up style of fighting and Froch’s nasty habit of keeping both his hands drooping down in front of him just handing there like low lying fruit.

Kessler took advantage of Froch’s low guard again and again in their April 24th fight, tagging Froch to the head repeatedly throughout the fight. Froch never did put his guard up to protect his head and because of that he lost a lot of rounds he would have had an excellent chance of winning had he just kept his guard up. It wouldn’t matter if Froch was totally uncoordinated and unable to block anything on his own. Just by keeping his guard up, Froch would have blocked at 15 to 25% of the shots that Kessler was throwing at him. Abraham noticed what I have known ages. But I agree with Sauerland.

There won’t be any judges needed in this fight, because Abraham is going to knock Froch out cold. That’s why I didn’t understand what Froch crying about so much with his complaining about the judges and his worrying about this or that venue. The dude just needs to shut his trap, go to Germany like a good one, and then take his beating like a man. That’s all he has to do.

If Froch is smart, he’s learning how to block shots with his gloves. He’s going to need to try and block some of Abraham’s big shots otherwise this fight is going to be over withing the first six rounds. I doubt Froch will focus on his defense at all. He’ll just do what always does and come out trying to slug and pay for it by getting knocked out.
