Hall stops Power, Jeffries and Banbula fight to draw

By Shaun Campbell: Olympian and rising star Tony Jeffries tonight drew to journeyman Michael Banbula over 8 rounds at the Rainton Meadows Arena, Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear. Jeffries failed to overcome the awkward Polish light-heavyweight, but Banbula is better than his record would suggest. He recently defeated former world champion Tony Oakey.

While a draw is not disastrous for Jeffries, it will leave him wondering how far he can go in the business, when if he wants to reach world title level one day, these are the fights he should be winning. But having said that there is plenty of time, and this could make him in to a much better fighter along the line.

In other action:

Stuart Hall TKO 10 Martin Power
Nigel Wright UD 10 Dean Harrison
vacant BBBofC English light welterweight title

The mighty mac?? There was nothing mighty about an unfit one trick pony with no game plan!! Was begining to slightly rate jaffa but preperation or jaffa camp needs to get back to the drawing board and work on fitness and faints!!!!!!!!!

Not a good result for Jefferies but not end of world, Junior Witter drew two of his first eight and Johnnie Nelson lost 4 of his first ten, at the end of the day he hasnt got a first round ko loss like Khan.
As for Stuey Hall though, this guy seems like a real peoples champ and getting better as he gets older, another fight and he could get a go at Jamie McDonnell.

jeffires was awful last night watched and just thought he got found out

  • Mark says:

even at this level Jeffries either is great or awful in a fight

he said he had an injury and hardly trained … but if that is so why didnt he just pull out of the fight ?

it seems he is the first Olympian to flop … same really coz the Light Heavyweight devision is weak in the uk with few big names other then Nathan Clevery

i live half a mile from here and jeffries was garbage!
