Pirog actually had a few very good wins including an early KO over a fighter who not long before went the full 12 with Arthur Abraham!
What a shot that was, a proper over hand punch and it was devastating! Pirog could go far I think with power/skills like that.
How can anybody claim Jacobs was thrown in with the sharks? Look at Pirog’s record prior to the fight. Who had he ever beaten? It was two prospects matched against each other. Now Golden Boy knows what they do/don’t have in Jacobs, and can map out his future accordingly.
What is Kelly Palik doing he should go knocking on Pirogs door kelly aint know new starter.

Another case of rushing a young fighter with lots of promise along too fast. Too bad for Jacobs. Whose next for Pirog, a big puncher with only 17 fights? Maybe Guerrero, McEwan, Lee, Lemieux, Sylvester, or Zbik. Pirog still needs a little more experience before taking on the likes of Sturm, Williams, or Martinez.

i think gb do a good job with their fighters. every fighter must step up. thats the way it is. many fighters were overhyped in the amateurs. they cheat for these guys, no matter what and when the headgear comes off they get exposed. BOTTOM LINE.
Agreed Golden Boy seems to have a problem with sheltering their fighters, then all of a sudden they throw them in with a guy like Pirog without any step up on the way. What they should be dooing is gradualy having their fighters fight tuffer and tuffer guys. But instead they just build up records against soup cans, then throw them in with the sharks. Same exact thing happened to ortiz and he still hasnt gotten his carear back on track.
Don- Thats exactly what happened! Goldenboy have a tendancy to do this with their youngsters. Ortiz is a good example, Orlando Cruz another, and Saul Alvarez very nearly came a cropper in the first round of his fight on the mayweather mosley undercard. It went very wrong last night this time for Jacobs. Also worryingly for jacobs, it seemed that the only thing a fighter needs to beat him is…to not be intimidated and dont be afraid to get stuck into him.

For me Jacobs was used to knocking over c and d level fighters and had no plan b when he came up against a guy who was physically stronger than himself, to his credit he did try his best but golden boy put him straight in from fighting dead bodies to fighting a complete bad ass without stepping it up slowly!
Peterkin may be the next top up and coming fighter from Brownsville, but he better earn it. Peterkin is hard nosed, and he will battle you to the end. Like Pirog, maybe the pros will be his redemption. YOU DONT HAVE 2 BE AN OLYMPIAN TO EXCEL IN BOXING. But you better know how 2 fight, and take a punch. I think Peterkin can. But Jacobs was special. VERY SPECIAL. Can Peterkin reach that? I think so. Thats if he stays focused.
Thats sucks that he got beat but he’s still talented and can make up for this loss he just got caught I had him winning on the cards but with them both they could of ko’d each other at anytime. He’ll be back and better

Jacobs just didn’t settle, never looked too comfortable……to be fair to the guy it was a great punch!!
One of the saddest things I’ve ever seen, very close fight but I had him up 3-1 just like all three judges… Damn….
