Arum says he can put together a fight between Pacquiao and Cotto or Margarito within 10 days

By Jason Kim: For what it’s worth, Floyd Mayweather Jr. still has around 10 days to speak up and agree to a fight with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s Top Rank promoter, said that he can put together a fight between Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margarito in 10 days or less.
Arum now says he’s taking Pacquiao and moving on to negotiate a fight against either Cotto or Margarito. Arum isn’t saying which one he’ll select for Pacquiao to fight next, but some people think it will be Margarito, as Cotto has already had a chance against Pacquiao last year in November and was a miserable failure, getting stopped in the 12th round by Pacquiao in a one-sided fight.
If Arum selects Margarito as Pacquiao’s next opponent, the fight will likely take place in Monterrey, Mexico rather than the United States. Margarito lost his boxing license a year ago after a plaster-like substance was found in his hand wraps before his fight with Shane Mosley.
Margarito had no luck recently when he attempted to get his boxing license back by applying to the Nevada Athletic Commission.
Arum’s mid-July deadline was never responded to by Mayweather, who ignored Arum completely. Arum said that he wasn’t negotiating with Mayweather one on one. It was Ross Greenburg, president of HBO Sports, who was interacting with Mayweather’s management.
If it does take 10 days for Arum to negotiate a fight between Pacquiao and Cotto or Margarito, then there would be an outside chance that Mayweather could still speak up and take the fight with Pacquiao but again it’s not likely to happen. Mayweather seems turned off by the negotiations right now and is doing his own thing.
Hopefully, if Mayweather fails to speak up in the next 10 days, it doesn’t continue into next year in May when Arum has said that he plans on trying to renegotiate a fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather. There’s a ton of money to be made in a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao, and that’s reason enough for Arum to continue to try and put a fight together between Pacquiao and Mayweather.

You may be able to put these fights together ,But only because Mayweather is ducking Pac Man and most fans know this fact. .
Give the fight to bradley, or have bradley fight Cotto for the priveledge.

i dont think u guys realize that arum said the “deadline” was the end of non disclosure, but arum failed to disclose what were the TERMS in the contract!!! at the end of the day everything must be agreed upon by team pac and team may. there must have been something in the contract that floyd didnt agree to. most likely it was the blood tests. arum saw “no problems” with the terms for march (how did that turn out? exactly). arum “no problems” during this negotiation… are you guys seeing the pattern a 3year old could figure out? hint, WHAT WERE THE TERMS? its so easy to make a fight with floyd..terms gotta b right

If there’s ever a third round of negotiation whether Floyd/Pacquiao fights in between, any numbers would be irrelevant. You can kiss the Lion share Pacquaio agreed to and the Drug testing good bye. It’s quite simple why this fight hasnt been made- Roger Mayweather (Floyds Uncle and trainer) has AN IMPENDING TRIAL for battery against a female boxer two years ago. Floyd dosen’t want to commit to a fight and then find out half way through his training camp that his trainer might go to prison. Its understandable but annoying. I’ve also heared rumours that November is not a good date for Mayweather for more complicated US Tax reasons. Hopefully this fight can be made for next May, but us fans are sure as hell getting sick and tired of waiting for a fight that should have been so quickly organized. Shame on boxing.
I just hope Floyd continues with his silence. Although i’m afraid he will come out of his shell and start trash-talking again as soon as Pacquiao has signed to fight someone else. (Hoping it’s not Cotto OR Margacheato).

A fight with Cotto does 2 things:
- Pacquiao goes up in weight and wins an 8th weight division
- An 8th division win would make it harder for anyone to break that record in this lifetime or the next, i.e. history/legacy

Of course Bob Arum can put together Pac-Cotto 2 or Pac-Margachito in ten days, he promotes all ov em, its easy to negotiate with yourself, and create a double wammy, 30% from Pac, 30% from Cotto/Margirito + the “under the table deal” he has with HBO for the rights. Out of all the revenue for these fights Arum gets at least 50% leaving the fighters to, well fight over the rest, then we we get to hear Bob drone on for hours about what a great show it was and hear him say ‘here comes the Champean’like some out of date dinosor. Save it Bob unless Pac fights Floyd you all lose credibility and people see just how the sport is run, by a small group of corrupt little men.
A number ofthe elite fighters is on a queue to have a crack on the PACMAN such as the likes of Berto, Williams and Bradley.
Floyd Jr is the self proclaimed best fighter with his 41:O record (excluding his loss to Serafim Todorov of course).
But a great number of the elite fighters beg to differ as they want to have a piece of the real Fighter of the Decade.
I think Arum should match Pacquiao with Berto. He is a credible opponent. Floyd is waiting right now for Arum to match pacquiao with another opponent and he will match it with the better one, maybe with Williams or Martinez if he still have his manhood. Matching pacquiao with margarito or cotto is not a good idea. It won’t sell.

Boxing NEEDS this fight, we the fans NEED & DEMAND it & if Floyds PPV numbers fell by half to three quarters…this fight WOULD MOST DEFINITELY be on. Mark my words. With the internet, this is a viable proposition…we just need to start a campaign that NO-ONE will once again pay to watch Floyd unless it’s to fight Pacquioa. What do others think?
