Donaire vs. Marquez: Why is Nonito fighting Hernan?

By Eric Thomas: I can’t understand why Nonito Donaire (23-1, 15 KO’s) is fighting Hernan Marquez (27-1, 20 KO’s) on July 10th, at the Colseo Jose Miguel Agrelot, Halo Rey, in Puerto Rico. I mean how is Marquez, 21, being given a shot at the World Boxing Association interim super flyweight title when he was just beaten soundly in one-sided 10 round decision loss to Richie Mepranum in March.
I know Marquez can punch a little, but come on, he was just beaten and made to look like a robot by Mapanum. It’s a such a waste. Doniare needs to put his career in overdrive and look to go after the best fighters in the division or think about moving back down in weight if he can’t get fights.

His KO of Vic was highlight reel worthy, but since then this guy has done jack sh.t

Journeymen have been fighting Nonito Donaire. A straweight took the fight against Donarie on 3 days short notice. A guy who lost to Richie Mepranum is fighting Donarie next. What do you mean no one wants to fight Donaire? Stop reading Ronnie Nathanielsz’s racially biased articles. Nonito Donaire needs to fight someone who is actually a good fighter first. Then he can have a good fight.

Donaire can punch, you will most likely have to box him with caution.
Nonito Donarie should be removed from the ring magazine’s pound for pound rankings. Ever since his win over Vic Darchinyan. He fought four journeymen and a straweight(3 weight divisions below Donaire’s own division). That straweight took the fight on 3 days short notice. His next fight is against a flyweight who lost to a guy who was just knocked out in 5 rounds.

Donaire is being avoided like the plague. Nobody among the named fighters in his weight class is calling him out even though beating Donaire would be a big positive gain to their careers. Darchinyan just ducked him when Donaire answered his call.
