Ortiz shuts out Campbell

By Jim Dower: on the undercard of the Amir Khan vs. Paulie Malignaggi fight, light welterweight contender Victor Ortiz (27-2-1, 21 KOs) dominated 38-year-old Nate Campbell (33-6-1, 25 KOs), beating him by a lopsided 10 round unanimous decision on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden, in New York. The final judges’ scores were 100-89, 100-89, 99-90. Campbell was dropped in the 1st and looked 100 years old.

Campbell looked really bad. But he made some excuses after the fight so I expect him to continue on. I think he is not a legitimate contender anymore.

Back to the topic – Nate Campbell wins this year’s award for pointless agression. I guess if the fight would have taken place in Nottingham, UK he would have stood a great chance at taking the decision. No such luck here Mate!
