Mayweather-Pacquiao: A 52-48 Purse Split in Favor of Floyd Might Get It Done

By Giancarlo Malinconico: It has leaked from several sources that Floyd Mayweather is now demanding a bigger share of the revenue split if a bout is to emerge with Manny Pacquiao. A 52-48 split in favor of Mayweather seems to be the perfect resolution to the purse-split dispute between “Money” and Pacquiao for a mega showdown later this year. Although both parties must still agree on a cutoff date for random blood testing, 52-48 might work because Floyd would be receiving the bigger revenue share while Pacquiao would still earn much more money than he would in a bout with Antonio Margarito, or any other fighter for that matter.
A 52-48 split is the best way to get the bout signed. There are some ways in which Arum could make up some of the 2%: Arum could take a pay cut. A 52-48 purse split works because it allows Floyd to brag about receiving the bigger purse, and it allows Pacquiao to end his career with the biggest bout in boxing history, solidifying his legacy, if he is victorious, as one the greatest of all time if not the greatest.

Freddie Roach is and has been accurate on predicting Manny Pacquiao’s fights. He said Pacquiao is going to KO Mayweather because Mayweather has lost some of his foot work and speed. I believe Roach and I’m myself is also good in analizing the outcome of all the fights of Manny Pacquiao. MY prediction is that Pacquiao is going to KO Mayweather on the second or third round. Manny is too fast and too strong for Mayweather. The only problem is Mayweather, he knows that Pacquiao is going to destroy him inside the ring. Mayweather is a wise guy, he would not let Pacquiao destroy him, so Mayweather will never fight Manny Pacquiao, ever, not even for $40 million Dollars. He would like to be remembered as the greatest unbeaten fighter of all time but… that will not happen, instead he will be remembered as the greatest coward boxer of all time.

Come on guys if you’re a true observant boxing fan its all about work rate, solid punches at the right spot at the right time, and very importantly if the guy can’t take solid punches and uppercuts, as did with Cotto vs Pac, the fight is over. Go back to the fights of the Great Mohamad Ali. In most of his fights, he would have kissed the canvass many times with the amount of solid punches that danced on his face if his chin ain’t made of “steel.” Between MoneyFloyd & MannyPac the make-up of their chins will be the deciding factor. Pacquiao’s win over Clottey was more impressive than Mayweather’s win over Mosley. Clottey had never been dominated in every round before that fight. 1 loss was by DQ in a fight he was winning, one loss against Margarito when he was injured, one loss to Cotto that he barely lost. Clottey never been dominated in the ring til he met Pacquiao. Mosley had been dominated before by Winky Wright. And against Mayweather basically Mosley from round three on refused to punch at all. The fact is even Clottey would’ve knocked out Mosley that night. Floyd would never dominate Clottey the way Pacquiao did. But Pacquiao would’ve knocked Mosley out in 3 rounds that night. Floyd’s one punch at a time will never beat the workrate of Pacquiao. Anyone that thinks Floyd can pick Pacquiao apart is crazy. Like Pacquiao is just gonna stand there and let him do it. You can not beat Pacquiao with one punch at a time especially if you have no power. Once Pacquiao finds that Floyd can’t hurt him he will charge ahead and Mayweather will be holding for dear life. It will end up like the Cotto fight with Mayweather most likely quitting on his stool after about 9 rounds. Hopefully he will be man enough to go out on his shield so we can have the pleasure of seeing him on the canvas. Floyd will do good for about 1 round. Pac will warm up in the second, and become ferocious by the 3rd just like he did against Cotto. There is no way a light hitter can beat Pacquiao. No way. Mosley’s purse from the Mayweather fight was almost the size of Pacquiao’s from the Clottey fight. Mayweather made more from has last fight against Mosley than Pacquiao made in his last 2 fights combined. Mayweather made 40 million in a single fight without Pacquiao. Pacquiao gave him the 14 days ( tho’ I think it should be fully random) – Floyd hasn’t agreed and now is apparently asking for a bigger percentage despite a poor response to his last fight. I’m interested to see if any Flomos would defend this position, it just looks like he’s looking for a way out of this now.
I really don’t understand the argument against steroid testing. If the MLB players union or specific players said I will only take blood test per 5-6 months with a 24day or 14day cutoff the media and the public would massacre him and the same goes for any other sport.
Even if you fault Floyds motivation for strict steroid or PED testing you can’t say boxing doesn’t need it

Most fight fans understand what a “Right-hand Southpaw” fighter is so why you’re banging on about it like it’s a new revelation is beyond me. Pacquiao now hooks with both hands and his straight left is difficult for anyone to deal with because he can follow it up even while taking shots. That’s partly why Floyd now wants to jeopardize $40M to “clean up the sport” instead of just fighting the guy. Pacquiao should have stayed at super-featherweight – then Floyd would have called him out.

You will be amazed with the guys he mention who couldn’t beat him. Just because Mayweather fought more recently doesn’t mean he gets to dictate the terms of the fight. Pacquiao is the Champion and has fought 6 times in the last two years while Mayweather has fought only 2 times. The money should be split down the middle however as this will be the biggest payday ever. Neither fighter should have a problem with the money being equal since they are making it together. Floyd “road block” Mayweather is such difficult person to deal with. Even his longtime CEO of Mayweather Promotions Leonard Ellerbe said Floyd is very difficult person to deal with. When Floyd challenged Manny an earlier fight, with only 2 month to recuperate from a broken ear drum, Manny took the fight. And still agreed with 50/50 split even though Manny is the defending champ, belt on the line, ranked #1 P4P and fought nearly 3 times more than Floyd in the last 3 years Manny still agreed with the 50/50 split. Now Floyd who had more exposure with a more well known fighter wants more than Manny. Floyd got HBO 24/7, longer promotion and hype, at least 2 more months more than Manny got. And still Floyd is demanding more than Manny. Thats insulting and ridiculous. What Floyd needs to realize, there is enough money for everyone and he should more reasonable for the sake of boxing and give a 50/50 split with Manny. It is only fair. It seems Roach is all over the place with his comments. Everyday he sees a new flaw on Floyd style.
Could it be that he really has no game plan or no answer as to what Manny can do to beat Floyd.
So he takes away Floyd’s short right counter, what about the straight right., the short left hook, the jab…
All Floyd has to worry about with Manny is the straight left..Manny right is “telegraphed” according to some very knowledgeable experts.

Anyway Packman is better off not fighting because with the torn stomach muscles, he may carry his intestines in his hands to the hospital. That man is an already damaged goods. Manny has torn stomach walls due to carelesness. That man has been hit so hard but because of the drugs, he does not feel the pain, but now his body is giving up. Sounds like a fair split. I was thinking 60-40, with Floyd getting the bigger share, but I just don’t see this fight happening. Manny will retire into politics, as I believe he will be heavily influenced by his family (mother), especially with his recent trip to the hospital with stomache ulcers. No no no, that is no solution, that is the same as a 50/50 split. The best would be a 70/30 for the winner. This way no one will argue for more money because the driving force will be a win.
