By Eric Thomas: According to Fight News, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) has ordered a title bout between unbeaten WBO light middleweight champion Sergey Dzinziruk (37-0, 23 KO’s) and WBO light middleweight interim champion Alfredo Angulo (18-1, 15 KO’s). The promoters for both Angulo and Dzinziruk have two weeks come up with an agreement for the fight. If not, then the fight will be brought up for a purse bid. Angulo, 27, has a scheduled July 17th fight against number #5 ranked WBO contender Joachim Alcine at the Agua Caliente Casino, in Rancho Mirage, California.

Angulo has looked excellent since losing a 12 round unanimous decision to Kermit Cintron last year in May 2009, winning his last three fights against Gabriel Rosado, Harry Joe Yorgey and Joel Julio, stopping all three of them inside the distance. Angulo looked especially good against the hard hitting Julio. Angulo stalked him all fight long, cutting off the ring and keeping Julio on the run. In the 11th round, Angulo finally caught up to Julio and put him down for good.

Dzinziruk, 34, made his first fight in a year and half, stopping Daniel Dawson in the 10th round last week in a one-sided fight. Dzinziruk’s jab did most of the work against Dawson, as he was able to pound and control him with that weapon alone.

A bout between Angulo and Dzinziruk could basically boil down to being a repeat of Cintron-Angulo. Dzinziruk is a pure boxer and is quite comfortable at fighting on the move. He has one of the best jabs in the light middleweight division and he rarely lets himself get caught in exchanges by big punchers. Angulo will have his work cut out for him against Dzinziruk and he could end up getting outpointed once again.
