Shannon Briggs looks good in stopping Predro

Former Linear and WBO Heavyweight Champion Shannon “The Cannon” Briggs (49-5-1, 43 KOs) returned to action on Tuesday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Resort in Hollywood, Florida, and destroyed normally durable 6′ 7″ veteran Rafael “The Cuban Giant” Pedro (20-9-1, 14 KOs) in 28 awe-inspiring seconds.

Fighting in the evening’s main event, Briggs came in at his lightest weight in his last six fights and quickly showed the blazing hand speed and heart-stopping power that have made him a two-time world champion and fan favorite worldwide.

Pedro, who had been stopped only once before in his career, went down from a battering ram straight right hand to the side of the head and made no serious attempt to rise before the count of ten.

The impressive victory was Briggs’ 28th career first-round KO.

“Shannon is clearly ready for another run at the heavyweight title,” said Briggs’ promoter Greg Cohen of the The Empire Sports and Entertainment. “That picture-perfect right hand would have KO’d any man on the planet. Briggs is back, more focused than ever and a serious threat to any heavyweight belt holder.”Quick correction to today’s press release introducing the Empire Sports and Entertainment Inc.

Briggs had a signed offer from K-2, and his management said no. Briggs didn’t even know about the offer obviously, when he tried to have a go at Wlad at a press conference.

Briggs will fight either brother. Just set a time and place and bring on the papers. The Klit brothers are chicken to fight him and have been ducking him for years. Now is the time!!!

Good, cause its going to be a pleasure to watch one of the K Brothers give him a pizza face!
