Malignaggi rips Kevin Mitchell

By William Mackay: Well it looks like Paulie Malignaggi didn’t take the criticism too well from unbeaten lightweight contender Kevin Mitchell (31-0, 23 KO’s) yesterday when the British fighter commented on Amir Khan facing an easy opponent. Malignaggi, not one to let an insult go by without responding, fired back on his Twitter page, saying “Kevin Mitchell wants to speak my name? You got something to say? Say it to my face. This is the only time, your going to be famous, when Paulie Malignaggi mentions your name! You’ve been cuddled more then Khan has man. Talking about your in a tougher fight, your fighting a human punching bag man, if you can’t beat a punching bag. You might as well retire! Because you suck!! So, watch your mouth Chump! Because wishes do come true ask Amir Khan. But I make dreams, turn into nightmares. So worry about your fight and [Michael] Katsidis.”

The 25-year-old Mitchell will be facing World Boxing Organization lightweight interim champion Katsidis on May 15th in England. This will be Mitchell’s biggest test of his career. He hasn’t faced that many high level top tier opponents as of yet, which makes it kind of strange that Mitchell chose to comment on Khan’s choice of Malignaggi. I could see Mitchell commenting if he had been a champion for awhile and was better known by boxing fans around the world, but he still hasn’t won a belt yet. He has a big test in facing the hard hitting Katsidis. That’s not going to be easy fight and he could end up getting taken out by Katsidis on the 15th. Never the less, if Mitchell beats Katsidis, he’ll known get a name at that point. Right now, he’s still just another contender who hasn’t cut his teeth against a champion yet.

Yeah yanks are propper turn coats us BRITS stick with our own through thick n thin. By the way Kev Mitchell would school pauli m and all american lightweights you watch after HAMMERTIME BIG Kev will bust juan manuel m ; if he even gives kev a chance to do so.

    MIKE

If we want to elevate our fighters then we will. I take it your american? Then its mighty rich coming from you. Jeff Lacy? Kelly Pavlik? Shall i go on?

We only get a handful of fighters to support at a time so, if it’s all the same to you – Khan is going to be P4P No.1 within 2 years, Haye is going to KO the Klitschkos, Kevin Mitchell is the best lightweight in the world and Carl Froch is going to win the super six.

And we do have a sense of humour about it too.

  • Pete says:

Khan is a big name so if Mitchell starts slagging him off then people what to know who he is. Froch did the same with Calzaghe and people wanted to know who Froch was. Its all part of the game.

  • RJT says:

At least British are loyal. Yanks just support whoever is winning. The supreme yank PBF has even said that

  • Fleece Johnson says:

All three are tight butt pssys…

  • Mike says:

    Pauli by UD!

  • Mike says:

LOL I can tell that many of the comments on here are from British people’s! LOL I’m not trying to make fun of you guys but you make it hard not too! You guys elevate people like Haye and Khan like they are proven world beaters which they are NOT! A proven world beater is an undisputed champion,(or a proven talent thats holds an “alphebetic title” and is being ducked by the other holders! (Think back to Bhops days of sharing the middleweight crown!)

I’m not really sure who is going to win but I’ll bet Paulie mmakes Khan miss so much he’ll think he’s punching air! LOL

  • koko says:

oh thank you so much for another article about some overhyped bums and not a word on how hozumi hasegawas 5 year riegn as champion ended in seconds without so much as a knock down

  • marshall says:

    Who’s attitude Marv @Marv

  • marshall says:

Big Kev will hammer paulie and katsidis. If you see Graham Earl vs Katsidis you’ll see Katsidis winning but badly struggling at the hands of the weak punching; average club fighter Earl. I rate mitchell well above G.Earl. Mighty Mitchell has pure fighting pedigree from the east end you have to be tough. Big Kev is ready to step up to WORLD CLASS. He has been guided through the pro ranks steadily and not been thrown to the Wolves so believe me when i tell you MIGHTY BIG KEV MITCHELL is READY.

  • Scotty1 says:

Paulie talks big for a guy whose punches tickle. I cannot wait for Khan to hammer in NY city.

  • big mouth paulie says:

“I make dreams, turn into nightmares” You’ve lost every big fight you’ve ever been in fool. Where are these nightmares u speak about??

  • ADAM T says:

I think Mitchell is entitled to his point of view, like everyone else, doesn’t matter if he is a champion or not… I think Mitchell is a great little boxer, very clever, very focused, executed the plan against Prescott and him and PM would be very interesting!! Kahn will school Malinaggi!

  • deano71 says:

MITCHELL would have too mutch for pm.paulie can take a great shot, cotto hit him with some brutal shots but paulie kept going so i wouldn’t call him a puy,he just doesn’t hit hard enough to stop kev from walking through him.it’d be close just like the khan fight will be,but he’s not as good as he thinks he is thats for sure.

  • punk says:

Malignaggi makes me laugh, he may be tough and slick but HE HAS NO POWER!!! Hatton just walked through his feather fists and made him look like a soft clown, Mitchell would do the same…my grandmother (79 years old) could walk through his “bombs”, what a joke!

  • Karma says:

if Mitchell was a little more experienced, then Malignaggi and Mitchell could make for a good fight, but at the moment Mitchell would get beat if they fought because i don’t think he would deal with the speed of the New Yorker.

  • Mark Fletcher says:

Paulie Mallinaggi is a joke, probably the most over-rated champ ever this shown against Ricky Hatton, All Paulie had against Hatton was handspeed and slicker boxing skills but Hatton even beat him that department, way ahead on all scorecards before stopping him, plus his two fights before them were lucky wins.

  • anoym says:

This is embarrasing both of them are adults and they display themselves like little kids not like warriors

  • biggles says:

khans stupid twitterings, now paulies, these two are as annoying as each other.

  • Dave Best says:

He is a hypejob until he proves other wise.

  • toxic says:

    pAULIE

did an amazing job on juan diaz twice we can’t forget that paulie is back with a vengeance

were all boxing fans and we have to fully understand the way boxing goes….

talking smack is a part of prizefighting

  • yawn says:

ahahaha, paulie is such a wannabe tough guy, but seriously, how insignificant do you have to be to have paulie, of all boxers, just disrespect like you were another brit hypejob.

  • T.H. says:

    trying hard wannabe mayweather
