Edwin Valero commits suicide
Edwin Valero has been found dead in his jail cell in Caracas, Venezuela early this morning, apparently committing suicide with his own clothes. Valero was arrested for killing his wife Jennifer Vierayesterday. It’s unclear why the 28-year-old Valero wasn’t on suicide watch, as this is something that is often done when a person has killed a family member and the prison authorities have a good reason to think that they may harm themselves. Valero was reportedly found by another inmate at the prison.
Before his suicide and the murder of his wife, Valero’s career was looking really promising. Valero had and impressive record of 27-0 with 27 straight knockouts and held the World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight title, which he had defended twice. Valero was being groomed by his promotional company Top Rank to fight Manny Pacquiao in a fight that would have made Valero a millionaire. Valero was going to move up to light welterweight for his next fight against Lamont Peterson.
At the time of his death, Valero still had not fought in the United States due to a brain injury he suffered in a motorcycle accident years ago, as well as a DUI he had picked up not too long ago. Valero was said to be a nice person when he wasn’t drinking, but under the influence of alcohol, he sometimes got violent.

@ GUVO
sorry to burst your bubble buddy, but killing yourself doesn’t make things worse for yourself. Since there is no real afterlife, there are no consequences to the actions we perform here on earth. Theres no dude at the gates with a big book that’ll let you in or not. Valero went crazy, possibly from the motorcycle accident he had in 2001 and killed his wife and himself. Chris Benoit did it. It sucks, but thats life.
Whom is the God of this world? Who was contolling Edwins parth? The bottle?Satan? Probably both.Taking one’s life doe’s not make thing’s better,it makes everything worse.
@Hodgy- you are the moron.
I never said it was a tragedy. It’s got nothing to do with me, none of my buisness whatsoever.
I was only ever interested in Valero when he stepped into the ring.
Anything else has nothing to do with me.
Commenting on things that have nothing to do with you is like trying to scoop air into a big pile, pointless.
You shud have enough to worry about in your own life without commenting on the lives of people you dont know.
Comment on the boxing, not the life.
@ taffia
Ok ok we get your point he was a bad man but surely this site is for boxing fans. take away what happened (if only we could ) he was a future great. He must have had his demands and unfortunatly boxing can attract an evil side to most, but I`m sure he suffered (maybe not enough for you ) with his guilt hence he took his own life. PS CHEERS PETER WELLS.
damn! had they fought this year, he would have given PACMAN a hard time (of course, Pacman would still win AT LEAST until after 3 more years when Valero has already fixed his defense and fought some more champion-caliber boxers.) what a waste! but i don’t feel sorry for him more than I feel sorry for her children and his wife.
first off, there’s no excuse nor justification for what valero had done to his wife.i understand when guys here start calling him ‘scumbag’ and such.but the real fault is with the venezuelan authorities.his manager jose castillo pleaded with them not to set him free because he was so “bad in the head”.they knew he was a troubled man.but because of his status in his country, his ties with their president,he was allowed to go free.and therein lies the crime.valero was a sick man.he should have been detained and given help.the real idea of prison was not punishment,it was athe other side of the idea.prison was invented to isolate the misfits of society from the rest of the populace,so as ot to create havoc nor do anymore harm to the rest of the society.in the past,in england, prisoners were caged in public squares, hence the term “jailbird”…but nowadays,it’s the punishment part which idealizes imprisonment.imprison or confine valero, not as a punishment, but to seclude him from the rest of society,so as not to do any more harm to him nor to anybody else.that is the shortcoming of the authorities in venezuela.even knowing that he was a very sick man.when the tiger escaped from the zoo a few years back, was it the fault of the tiger when he maimed people?no…it was his nature…it was the fault of the zookeepers.restarining order – what good is that?what good did it do?jennifer carolina viera is dead…and their kids will grow up without parents…that is the real tragedy.
@ WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE? the only morons on this site are people like you and the rest who are saying its a tragedy. dude the guy murdered his wife. this is the same guy that beat his own mother and sister just a few months back. the guy was a coward
I wish it was MAYWEATHER who killed Mayweather SR and committed suicide!!!!
Valero was a trainwreck waiting to happen and he slipped off the tracks a number of times but unfortunately he couldn´t get the right help he needed to save him and his wife, hopefully this type of thing can be avoided in other similar situations and it´s just a very sad sad story with a sad ending and regardless of our personal judgements may he find the peace in death that he couldn´t find in life and boy do i feel for those poor girls and the loss of their mother.
one thing its sad is valero never got beaten up.maybe that would have taught him,to be humble, seems the valero in the ring and valero the family man were the same.some people never understand fame. his wife might have tried, only to make matter worst you too are against me . big body small mind = hopeless
Man this is scarey, too many boxers and wrestlers do this stuff, all I can say is life is not easy!!!!!!!
Rest in peace? If you murdrered someone then tried to sleep, how w much do you think you would get?To blind religious people, how does committing suicide allow one to rest in peace?
Think about it!
God does NOT judge st,we do!
R.I.P? How can someone who takes the course of action Valero did rest in peace? None of us should judge him but if one thinks clearly about it he is a troubled soul!Committing suicide,(a choice he made after his brutal action!)will not be an escape but merly an emergence into his own madness!
as I recall most of these same blogger say rest in peace he was a huge good fighter ,were saying before he died he has no defense and he fights nobody’s. joke city retards
f&%k loser, good you took your life, easy way out, good for us we dont have to read more articles or story’s excuses ,he a loser, probably taught he was the king to those around him.how much power did you use hitting mom, sister, wife, were the two little girl next in line ?
@glass joe you must be a real moron to defend a man who has taken away two childrens mother in such a brutal way and didnt have the balls to live with the disgusting thing he did. What possibal thing could warent that, idiot
A 27 yr old man doesn’t not just kill his wife without a reason out of nowhere. She definitely must have done something very terribly to Valero. He never killed before and he was 27 with no signs of mental problems. The wife did something here to provoke this situation. R.I.P. E. Valero
i thought this would happen!!!!
he was a true fighter and had a great record, was like mike tyson at prime. i was shocked that he killed his wife and now he killed himself what a WASTE OF LIFE. idiotttttttttt
i pity the children.
dirt bird stabs wife 2 deth and evry 1 ses r.i.p well i say r. i. h.
taffia is only calling this as it is…….unfortunately, there really is no easy way to say it, but from what I gather from the reports….Valero stabbed his wife to death, and killed her in a very brutal, and ruthless way, and maybe if he would have shown her the pity and compassion that some of you bloggers are showing him……..his wife would probaly still be alive. Who knows what may have pushed Valero over the edge, but he definately displayed a propensity to engage in reckless and dangerous behavior……and we should have prayed for him then…..I dont recall anyone voicing their concerns and compassion about Valero prior to this….so what good is it doing now??? Valero’s kids and his wife’s family are the ones who needs the prayers and compassion now, so now can you guys do the right thing know???….just show compassion for the kids….give them your prayers…..your sympathy and compassion, now while it matters.
he was good but lets face it u dont pray 4 a guy who kos evry body then stabs his wife 2 deth r. i .h
you’re funny taffia. I haven’t heard such garbage since gw bush’s comedy press conferences.
Your high horse is so tall you’re heading for a big fall from it.
Whats this got to do with you?
If you want to rant ignorant half baked tabloid nonsense about something thats got nothing to do with you, do it else where, this sites about boxing.
I feel so sorry for his wife but Im really glad that hes dead.goodbye scumbag.
What makes this so tragic is that we could have saved both souls had the right intervention been pescribed and followed:
read the tread in eastside boxing forum posted april 10, 2010 under testicularforti on what should have been done and the responsible parties involved which failed both his family and the man himself.
God does forgive everyone, not those that die in their sins and did not accept Christ in their lives.
@taffia
You’ve portrayed your distain for Valero too much, too often here, if you read my first post i was actually of the same mindset.
But, upon reflection you cannot judge something you know NOTHING about, i dont judge you or how you interact with your family members, or why one of you parents displays more emotion towards another sibling, or why your Dad drinks..im making this up obviously, but if it were true, would you like a complete stranger who knows nothing of the situation to judge you on it?
Those are smaller examples, but the same applies.
We know relatively nothing germane to this dreadful scenario, i just hope the kids will be ok.
Thats all i hope.
And since when did everybody get so religous all of a sudden?
Well i have to say that some children have lost a loving mother and a father that could of provided them with a wonderful future.
The boxing world has lost an absolutly explosive and exciting power punching fighter.
And a South American prison Mr Big has just lost himself a nice new tight hole.
taffia the law is an ass in most cases and the bible is just alot of ppl putting a big long contradictive story together you will be telling me valero was the devil incarnate next even though any1 could see he was nuts
taffia you cannot compare valero to myra hindley you prat this was domestic hardly a serial killer although you could see in his eyes the man was nuts just a bad situation all round
@taffia..
Funny comment, though im somewhat perpexed as to why you didnt include Gearge W Bush alongside those two?
Just curious..
What would Jesus say? I think if you are religious you realize that God forgives everyone, regardless.
Condolence to his parents, brothers, sisters especially to his children. May the souls of Edwin Valero and his wife be rest peace!
RIP :/
The sad thing though…
If this guy was Middle Class, from a Western country and not a Boxer…he’d probably get more sympathy.
Im not advocating sympathy for him, or that their should be any, im just trying to look outside the box.
Wow what a tragedy, heard about his recent troubles with alcohol, but wasn’t aware he had murdered his poor wife. Feel sorry for his kids not him.
@taffia, hodgy & matt porter.
Great comments from a trio of morons.
It’s a good thing your opinions are utterly worthless, hence posting them on the internet, just the place for them.
Keep up the ignorance.
Just because God is the final arbiter of a man’s soul does not mean that us mortals cannot comment on his idiotic, brutal, inhuman behavior in THIS world.
What does the loss to the boxing world compare to 4 instant orphans?
Eff him and all sadistic, cruel wife beaters/murderers everywhere.
People who are criticizing Valero should keep it shut. You don’t know what caused him to kill his wife. Sometimes killing is justified, and we don’t know the facts of the situation. So, we shouldn’t talk. Were any of you there? Do you know what happened? No–so shut up!
As a boxer Edwin was a great one with a shot to be a legend, as human being theres a lot to make me sick about him… wish the best for his children and i beg for his soul and the soul of his wife (sorry about my crappy english)
P.D: Only in case someone say it… he is not an eternal champion like salvador sanchez or monzon, today titles are paper so you need at least 2 or 3 belts for being a champion.
From the sports perspective, it’s lost a a fantastic fighter and an exciting one to watch, we will never know just how good he could of been. The world on the other hand has lost a wife beating muderer, who by all accounts was very distured and a possible threat to society, so I say we are better off, if he’d gotten away with it, who next in a fit of rage? I feel sorry for the children and only hope previsions are put in place to support them and not just finacially.
Wow shocking only god can judge him now r.i.p to him his wife and god bless his kids
I dont want to give a tribute because of the manor of the situation. Yes he was a great boxer, and a very troubled man. He killed his wife and that cannot be forgotten. I feel sorry for his children and other family and hope they can get their lives together sooner rather than later so they can move on
the fact is the guy clearly had sum mental weakness and nobody should forget that he was clearly troubled and that none of us are in that situation so what happened isnt for us 2 judge.simply put a very troulbed soul killed his wife then realising what he had done killed himself the loss of life is always tragic no matter who that person might be.
Steve E
there are some of his old fights on YouTube and his recent ones
I do agree that boxing overseas should be on uk tv alot more not just big fights
I watch mine online though it isn’t the same as tv
Taffia is respect your point he is a murderer but it is a tragedy to the sport
but my most prayers go to his children and wife but the government should have sorted it out earlier
man wat a pity, cant believe it, he could have gone to new heights and now he has gone and committed suicide! Y would he kill his wife beats me……….
sad for all those involved ie family and friends and also boxing fans it doesn`t throw a good light on the sport I just wish i had more opportunity to see him for what he should be famous for but living in england it`s not easy to see good boxing talent from over the sea`s I can`t wait for the next man to knock out every oponent.
Stamina9008 it’s cool and your right only god knows what happened and he will be judged on that
and thanks for Alexis arguello another champion and he was only in his 50s and s great msn in his home country
Peter Wells.
Alexis Arguello
Peter Wells
True, i reacted hastily their, my emotions got the better of me.
Ultimately, only God can judge the life of another man.
We can’t.
I cant judge you either.
Peace.
Stamina9008 I only found out everything today only him and his wife knew what was going on between them and why he went so agressive
T-bomb ………..he’s a legend? he butchered his wife. There are some absolute tossers posting on this site.
Rest in peace? he just stabbed his wife to death. He is a scummy murderer who took the cowardly way out.
We had a tragic year in 2009 and this year has started of just as bad
I hope that young tragedies like this doesn’t get any worse
still there is no one i feel more upset for than Vernon Forrest
rip all the young champions we have lost over the past few years
Vernon forrst
Edwin valero
arturo gatti
Diego corrales
Darren Sutherland
and those who I havnt mentioned please fill me in
Wife killers dont deserved to be prayed for you sick freaks
What annoys me is that, when it was reported that he confessed to killing his wife and was going to jail, everybody was hating on him – which they should.
Then once everybody fings out that he killed himself, they start calling it a tragedy, and no doubt tribute videos will be made online…but would they have got made if he was still rotting in jail???
Point is; Just because he killed himself doesnt warrant pity because he took the life of someone else, and it wasnt a suicide pact, he took her life away.
He was a murderer, and his kids now have no parents because of him, maybe thats what he wanted…i donno.
Anyway, hope it doesnt harm the Sport. He was very talented, but he left too soon…but like Darren Sutherland, although Sutherland only killed himself.
Boxing is a sport that should be publised more
I don’t know about america but boxing is only publisised in the uk when a big British fighter is fighting or when there’s a super big fight
boxers should also be paid more such as valero
footballers(soccer players) get a run load of money every week for kicking a ball
Fighters deserve more credit as it is a great sport and publicity could stop tragic things happening but in the end valero was just a normal man because of lack of publicity
Valero had so much potential and like so many boxers personal problems outside the ring ruined it
i will pray for valero and his wife and families you may feel he doesn’t deserve forgiveness but he was a troubled man
there are plenty of cold blooded killers in the world you just get a slap and put in a mental home to be released again
rip both of you
god bless
wow…unbelievable.i feel so sorry for his wife and his family.i feel sorry for valero too.that dude was a very tormented soul.maybe those KO’s were maanifestations of his anger and torment.and when he was out of the ring, this anger had to come out, unfortunately, there was no opponent in the other corner,in fact, there was no corner, there was no ring, there was only his mother, his sister…and his wife to vent upon his anger.so sad…but now his legacy will always be,like some posters here already are saying…the ‘what could have been’… to ‘boxing DC’ -beat pacquiao?maybe,…or maybe not,we will never know..TRUTH BE TOLD,useless arguing about it anyway…and to the poster ‘jase t’,who said mayweather will fight him next, man, that was really tasteless…RIP valero…and RIP jennifer viera.
don’t have anything to say he could have been the next pacman…RIP
This reminds me of the saying that before you learn to conquer the world you must conquer yourself. God gave this man power and strength but how he choose to use it and perhaps it was a test for him given the childhood he had. I hope i remebr to the pray to the lord that has children be blessed with wisdom and do not follow the same path. Still life goes on
Just incredibly sad, wow, what a sad day this is
It is a tragic day for boxing wen one of its potential superstars falls like this. I hope that their children and the rest of their family can get thru this trauma. RIP Edwin Valero – for what its worth, ur power and tenacity could of shook the boxing world. may god have mercy on ur soul
all thoghts and prayers at this time go to valeros children and next of kin at this sad time.i cannot begin to imagine the hell he was going through to commit such an act to his wive and himself.all i can think is that his demons must have taken over and he was no longer thinking rationally..RIP
RIP not much else to say
wow
I was getting pretty excited about Valero’s career but after hearing about him beating his wife, also supposedly beating his mom and sister last year I lost all interest in him. Yesterday was sad sad news. I couldn’t believe it. Rest in Peace to his wife and condolences to her family.
Their children and next of kin have a lot of tragedy on their hands right now. It’s hard to pass judgment on Valero, who had so many demons, and a still-visible clot in his brain from his accident. If it was brain damage which led to his irrational behavior, then shame on the doctors. If it was drug and alcohol abuse, then shame on the judges and police officers.
But most of all, shame on Edwin Valero if he acted of his own volition and did these things.
If there is a silver lining here, it is that Edwin will no longer be a danger to himself or others ever again. But as another poster here said, if only he had taken his troubled life a few days before his wife became a victim of his rage.
Thoughts and prayers to the Valero family, mostly the children. Let us hope they have a good support system, solid grandparents aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
A sad day for boxing, but that is so trivial in a time like this.
…ryan
feel sorry for his wifes family more so for there children growing up with no parents tragic somebody around valero must have known he was a ticking time bomb waiting to go off this tragedy could have been avoided there is people around him that should hang there heads in shame.rip to his wife and may god have mercy on your soul edwin
what a sad sad ending to two young lives.
What shame and tragic ending for the Valero family. All those “yes” should have seen this coming and could have helped Edwin and his wife at some point. Three lives are gone and children left without parents. RIP
@T.J, you’re right on point.
Was a lightweight Tyson rip
what a end to such a good carrer 27wins 0loss 27kos r.i.p you legend
What a tragic situation. All those “yes” men should have seen this coming. Now three lives are gone. Your toughest opponent is yourself. @ T.J., you’re right on point.
It’s tragic all the way around. His wife, their child(ren)? and the boxing community. I’m not going to say anything about whether he was a good guy or not. He was a fierce boxer and incredibly fascinating to watch fight. As a boxing fan being the only bridge I had into Valero’s life…that’s where my comment shall stay. In the ring. Boxing loses a guy who could have beaten Manny or Mayweather. Watch all his early sparring sessions with guys like Erik Morales and Urbano Antillon and you saw a guy who had a lot more then just brawl tactics. He knew the sweet science and as a boxing fan…this is a huge loss. Outside of boxing…a terribly sad and tragic incident. RIP to both.
what a waste.
this guy had some intense anger management issues and needed long term inpatient therapy. unfortunately, his family kept covering up for his assaultive behavior and he went so quickly down a path to ruin.
i feel most sorry for his 2 young girls who have lost both their parents in a matter of days.
Death is only a flipside to a coin!
One does NOT find peace when they die in such a manner! He didn’t deal with his problems and took the worse course of action he could!
His demons are still with him and will be untill he deals with them!
It’s a tragedy for all the people concerned. May Edwin Valero now find the peace he didn’t find in life, he was obviously tormented, poor soul, and of course, his wife. RIP.
Too many “yes ” men could have helped him and his family towards the end. What a tragic ending.
This guy’s legacy, reputation and fanbase will only grow larger, because of his knockout ratio. He will be an even bigger youtube star and sensation.
Theres a fine line between genius and insanity guys a fine line spard a thought 4 the young un bless her
He has no legacy with what he has done nothing will be remembered, he could have been the best but we will never know, he made everything seem so easy in the ring but his biggest and hardest fight was with himself, one which he lost. I used to love the guy, reading and watching him was a joy, I’m telling my self none of is true yet I know it is…. RIP
Why edwin why u had it all man 4 get boxin ppl and spare a thought 4 mrs valero and the poor lil child who now has no parents theres a fine line between genius and insanity ripx x x
God knows what made him go and do all this?
Its like Monzon. Didnt he kill his wife aswel and then die?
He definatly must have been insane. shocking
@jase t(england) ……….. LOL!!
Its a gud job his young un dunt know wots happened bless him rip mrs valero edwin why man why u had it all gutted
I feel bad foe everybody in this story. The guy just lost it.
WikiPedia states- It was reported on September 27, 2009 that Edwin Valero had been arrested on assault charges. A man alleged that the boxer attacked his mother and sister over a feud.[4] Valero, however, denied the allegations and considers them an attempt to harm his reputation. His mother even came forward to tell the media that no foul play was involved.
On March 25, 2010, Valero was again accused of assault, this time by allegedly attacking his wife who was sent to hospital for bruises and a damaged lung.[5] Valero denied any wrong-doing, stating his wife stumbled from a stairway but investigators doubted him.[6] But just like in the first assault case, Valero won as his wife told authorities that her injuries were indeed caused by an accident while on some stairs, despite the fact that she had been treated for similar injuries twice before at the hospital.[7] Because of the vicious personality he showed at the hospital where his wife was treated, Valero was sent to spend six months of psychiatric rehabilitation.[8]
and guys dont you all think that it is a very poor judgement in taste to be lamenting about Valero not fighting Paquiao because of this???? All boxing fans know that Valero was 27-0 with 27 ko’s, but right now, that is so small on the grand scale of things that it is even foolish to talk about all that at this point.
It actually did cross my mind that he might die himself somehow, after i heard what he did to his wife yesterday.
Shocking news all round
Yea,were all sad for someone none of us know at all! He was an undeniable talent but from many reports he was NOT a nice guy! My sympathies goes out to his family,NOT Valero himself,he made his choice!
Wow……….this is some crazy mess. No man, if possible, should ever put his hands on a woman. I was married to a lady that became very violent and unpredictable when we had arguments, but I never reciprocated her behavior back to her….I just knew I had to get out of that relationship, which I did. How can ANYBODY praise Velero for being a “knockout artist”, when he used his “knockout artist” strength to beat and kill his wife? Didnt he and his wife have a small child too? Velero obviously had some powerful inner demons that he was wrestling with, and he didnt seek or get the proper help to deal with them…….now he has not only taken the life of a defenseless person, but he also destroyed his own…….it is very sad indeed.
@jase t
CLASSIC!
what a shame he could have been great beating pacquaio mayweather the lot but we will never know now also very sad about his wife
What a waste of a talent for boxing 27-0 with 27 KO’s but more importatnly what a waste of a life he had it all and even a possible bout with Pacquiao.
Well thats that then. Another guy who couldnt handle the money and fame or his temper like so many before him.
Not got much sympathy for him theres thousands of people that have coped with that talent and fame and even more that would love the chance to have it.
So a vacant belt, With Mitchell and Katsidis fighting so soon who could nip in for this?
Takes all sorts to make the world go round and god has a say in none of it.He would of made some serious coin had he been aloud to fight in the states never mind.NEXT.
A sad day in boxing. He had the chance at being great.
THIS IS SOME SAD NEWS, VALERO WAS A TRUE WARRIOR IN THE RING, HE HAD THE BEST WIN:KO RATIO, ALL HE NEEDED WAS TO GET A FIGHT WITH AN ELITE BOXER TO PROVE THAT HE WAS GREAT, BUT THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN, PEOPLE WILL NOW SAY THAT HE WAS OK, SINCE HE NEVER HAD A TRUE OPPONENT. BUT VALERO HAD MUCH TO OFFER THE BOXING WORLD, HE WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT. AND TRUTH BE TOLD, HE WOULD HAVE DESTROYED PAC
RIP VALERO
very bad news, may God bless her and hes family.
just heard floyd will fight him next now!
Damn I just couldn’t believe it
I feel soo sorry for this guy … wasting his talent
this just proves hes a coward who took the easy route rather than living with what he did, death is far easy for him,a life time of hurt is what he deserved
When they said valero killed his wife I couldn’t believe till I read this, this so sad. Such a waste of career. Rip..
What a stupid fool…
He had so much potential but he threw it all away.
RIP to his wife (hope she’s in heaven now).
May God have mercy on Valero (for what it’s worth).
woooow shocking news, great fighter rest in peace.
27 WINS 1 LOSS 27 KO’S
HE BEAT EVERY BODY EXCEPT HIS DEMON’S
*RIP*
I was looking forward to….
PRISON PRIZEFIGHTER!
8 inmates battle it out for a shot at the lightweight belt against Valero!!!!
Valero-Pacquiao from Venezuala prison would have been awesome, the crowd is the inmates only…that would, without doubt, have been the highest selling fight of all time.
UNDEFEATED RECORD OF 27 WINS
PURFECT KNOCKOUT RATIO OF 27 KO’S
NO LOSSES
THERE’S NO FIGHTER TODAY WITH THAT KIND OF
RECORD.
VALERO WILL BE REMEMBERED IN THE RING AS A
GREAT FIGHTER. A KNOCKOUT ARTIST WITH A PURFECT RECORD. A TOUGH AND EXCITING BRAWLER.
HOW VALERO BE REMEMBERED OUT OF THE RING… IS ANOTHER STORY.
may him and his wife rest in peace. only god can judge him. very very sad story..
Edwin Valero was a great talent, a two weight world champion, 27 wins, 27 KO’s, on the brink of greatness and the opposite happens. I’m shocked, saddened and replused.
Alcohol is a very dangerous drug that often leads to self destruction. Such a disappointing story to read. It seems all to often this sport is plagued with tragic news. I love boxing because it provides so many stories of rags to riches, but it also includes many who make it and continue to self destruct. God Bless the Viera and Valero families!
little sympathy for the loss of Edwin, I have a lot of sympathy for his dead wife and her family… my heartfelt thoughts go out to them.
If i was the family of the wife, i would sue the Judge for putting him on the street instead of getting him help
“The Attorney General’s Office said in a statement that Valero was detained March 25 on suspicion of assaulting his wife, but his wife told a police officer her injuries were due to a fall. When the boxer arrived moments later, he forbade Viera from speaking to the police officer, and spoke threateningly to the officer, prosecutors said in a statement.
The Attorney General’s Office said a prosecutor had asked a court to order Valero jailed but that the judge instead placed him under a restraining order that barred him from going near his wife, a condition he repeatedly violated.”
27 WINS 27 KNOCKOUTS AMAZING TALENT. THE
BEST KNOCKOUT ARTIST EVER!!!
TOO BAD… ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE VALERO FIGHT PACMAN… THAT WILL BE EXCITING.!! JUST WISHFUL
THINKING… IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN…ITS OVER…SOO
SAD…RIP…GOODBYE.!!!
*RIP* FOR THE VALERO FAMILY MAY GOD FOR GIVE THIS MAN AND WITH JESUS HIS WIFE BE. HE COULD OF BEEN THE BEST BOXER IN HISTORY BUT HE COULD NOT KO HIS DEMONS IN HIM *RIP*
Stupid move by valero he had potential to become big and forget about those stupid little problems but well what can I say happens but I just feel for the fam
He had a long history of abuse against his wife. He was a ticking bomb waiting to happen. The law enforcement are as much to blame for the death of his wife. They should have stepped in long before this all happened and possibly two people would be alive today and Valero might have gotten some help.
His celebrity status allowed him to get away with much
VERY SAD!!! REST IN PEACE.
heard about him being arrested yesterday and just heard about his death. ive got no sympathy for him. he was a troubled guy but he did what he did. no one forced him. sorry for his family, but not him. I will not say RIP
Good riddons.
Crazy s!!!! Almost cryptic in nature how this truly is another Carlos monzon. Rip Mr and mrs valero and may God have mercy on edwins soul!
thats a sad end to a sad life, promising talent gone.
Maybe he was such an embarrasment to the Chavez regine, that they got rid of him. This guy wore a hugo Chavez tattoo….
Shocking.
too bad he didnt do that before he killed that girl
the boxing world lost a future great fighter. he may rest in peace.
im sad for him but under ther circumstances very angry for what hes done to his wife and him self RIP the valero family
No way !
to hell and back with him its his wife we should feel sorry for not him . to many guys beating women f345ing cowards . they dont fight the best in their division they just go home and beat the wife . what a loser
r.i.p man
Such a waste. He’s a potential cash cow and he ruined it. RIP!
WHY WOULD EVERYONE FEEL SORRY FOR EDWIN? WHAT EVERYONE WITNESS WAS WASTED TALENT. IT IS POSSIBLE. AND WHAT HIS WIFE? WHAT PROVOKE WHAT? WHERE THE NEXT LIGHT WEIGHT CHAMP?
sad dan terrible news
shocking news. what a fighter.
Terrible news!
