Berto protege Elegele to fight this Saturday night

SUNRISE, FL (April 9, 2010) Sensational junior welterweight prospect Joseph Elegele will be featured this Saturday night, April 10th, on the undercard to the FIGHTING FOR HAITI event at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida.

FIGHTING FOR HAITI is headlined by a welterweight showdown between WBC champion Andre Berto and former champion Carlos Quintana.

After an amateur career which saw him compile a record of 69-8, Melbourne, Florida native Elegele turned professional in November 2009 where the 25 year old has quickly become a must-see prospect, winning his first five fights, three by knockout.

A constant presence in the training camps of Andre Berto, under the tutelage of trainer Tony Morgan, Elegele has gotten a first hand look at the road to a championship.

“Andre and I have been training together for many years, starting when we both were amateurs. We’ve sparred quite a bit, especially when he was preparing for Luis Collazo. With us working together, he’s been a huge help in my growth as a fighter.

“It’s truly inspirational for me to see him become a world champion and achieve so much success. I’m happy with the way my pro career has started and I’m convinced I have what it takes to follow Andre to the top.”

Elegele will face off against fellow southpaw Mario Hayes, 4-5-0, of St. Petersburg , Florida in a scheduled four round bout on Saturday night.

Along with trainer Tony Morgan, Elegele is guided by award winning manager Cameron Dunkin and promoted by TKO Boxing Promotions.
