Adamek wins by majority decision over Arreola
By Sam Gregory: In the main event of the April 24th edition of HBO’s Boxing After Dark from Citizens Business Bank Arena, Ontario, California, 29 year old Chris Arreola 28-1 with 25 KO’s takes on the former IBF cruiserweight champion Tomasz Adamek 40-1 with 27 KO’s who is fighting his third fight in the heavyweight division. This is a scheduled 12 round bout in the heavyweight division for the IBF international heavyweight title.
By the second round Adamek doubled up on his jab landing the crisper more solid punches. For the first three rounds Adamek was fighting a very disciplined fight and clearly looked in control easily winning the first three rounds.
Going into the fourth round Arreola threw and landed some big shots and had Adamek on the ropes. Adamek took some big shots but countered with solid combinations to the head and body. In the fourth round Arreola caught Adamek on the top of his head with a punch that threw him off balance.
At the start of the fifth round Arreola had some visible swelling around his eyes. In the fifth round Arreola caught Adamek with a solid left jab to the face that threw him off balance. Adamek landed some good combinations but Arreola carried both the fourth and fifth rounds.
Going into the fifth and sixth rounds Arreola was starting to impose himself physically muscling Adamek into the ropes. In the sixth round Adamek received his second warning for throwing a low blow.
Between rounds Arreola was ahead on the unofficial scorecard 4 rounds to 2
By the seventh round Arreola was outmuscling Adamek and pushing him into the ropes; Adamek was able to spin out and counter with a combination that didn’t appear to affect Arreola. Going into the eighth round Adamek was getting off the cleaner punches but Arreola was still outmuscling his opponent.
At the start of the ninth round Arreola came out throwing a big overhand right that was countered with a combination to the body. It was at this point in the fight that Adamek turned the fight back in his favor outpunching and landing combinations to the body of Arreola. Again Adamek was warned for throwing a low blow.
Between rounds Adamek was ahead on the unofficial scorecard 5 rounds to 4
In the tenth round Arreola landed a big combination to the body pushing Adamek into the ropes. Midway through the round Arreola looked in control of the round but Adamek was able to spin his way off the ropes and take the fight to the center of the ring. By the end of the tenth and going into the eleventh rounds of the fight Adamek had taken back control of the fight. Before the end of the eleventh round Adamek landed a big three punch combination.
In the twelfth round Adamek circled Arreola and threw single jabs; both men fought cautiously circling and throwing single jabs. The final round was uneventful and when it was over the fight went to the judge’s scorecards.
Michael Buffer announced the scores as: 114-114, 115-113, and 117-111 all for the winner by unanimous decision Tomasz Adamek.
Adamek improved his unbeaten record to 41-1 with 27 KO’s while Chris Arreola fell to 28-2 with 25 KO’s

I believe Arreola hurt both hands, if not maybe it could’ve been different. Spent too much time chasing. Stop chasing and make the runner step to you.
haye and amadek should share their steroids with arreola, its only fair…dont kid yourself nobody gains 30 pounds of muscle in a lifetime, much less in 2 years…so who is the disgrace, the cheater or the man who is overweight?
there is no such thing as an american fighter…we are immigrants…arreola wasnt born in the usa, neither was solis, vlad lives in california, vitali in florida…who cares where a fighter is from….
so
mayeweather is going to dominate mosley he is older and past his prime. but it would be good to see maeweather lose his first fight
Good I’m glad Adamek won…. Hopefully more cruiserweights move up and rid the heavyweight division of big fat, lazy, disgusting bums like Arreola and company!!!!!!
I think Haye / Amadek is the next logical fight, neither of them is quite ready for a k brother…and regardless of what they say they both know it…who would win Haye against Amadek…depends on whether or not Haye trains for a change…he needs to either ko him early or have much better stamina than he has in the past….he doesnt seem to do roadwork and Amadek was in supberb condition.
I had to tellyou,I watched this fight on replay scoring subjectively.I had two rounds even with Aereola winning by a point. Punches landed may have been in adameks favor but he realy was retreating alot and Chris attacked much of the time landing heavy sometimes glancing blows, but this fight was in no stretch of the mind117to111. Areola has nothing to be ashamed of.I think Harold Letterman was a bit off too.Giving adamek the first two rounds were incorrect in my oppinion.Goodfight.
Arreola is simply not that good (not yet smart enough), but he sure does have a good work ethnic. He still has another shot though…

@Big G
Real mature, did you stay up all night thinking about that genius comment? Grow up
Not now of course but why not Wlad? Most of you said that Arreola will win this fight. Adamek needs a few fights more. I fear that promotions will charge him into something stupid. He can beat all the guys out there but Not now. Arreola gave it all out there. Great, great fight
fat yank beat again
so does this really make the best American heavyweight we have to offer Deontay Wilder? Who is atleast 8-10 fights away from challenging for a world title??? how sad….
Arreola had a problem with his right hand after the 9th round when he landed a right hand on Adamek’s forehead and likely broke his wrist or hand. He was clearly in excruciating pain with that hand.
But no excuses for him: Arreola is way too heavy to move around effectively in a pro boxing ring. he was slow at chasing and pinning down Adamek and that’s why he suffered so much against a smarter fighter. he would be a much better fighter without all that fat, and it shouldn’t be hard for a serious fighter to lose that weight. Eat less, run more, train more seriously if you want to be a champ!
For those talking about Michael Buffer… I watched the fight. He didn’t say Unanimous he said Majority.. Some people will try to find fault anywhere!
Adamek is a very good fighter, who fights like is bigger than he is.. I think he would give Haye a very good fight, and I would pay to see that one! I don’t kow that he is big or good enough to mix it up with Klitchko though… I respect Arreola accepting the judges scoring and outcome of the fight, albeit with unprofessional language that he needs to work on. A good fight..
I thought Adamek clearly won the fight. 117-111 is not so far off, but 114-114 is outrageous! Look at Arreola’s face during and after the fight, he was literally a punching bag. As far as Arreola winning rounds, that seemed to stop after Adamek’s corner taped up that shoe. It’s hard to stick and move when your shoe is falling apart. One last thing, Chris looked like a ball of fat rolling around that ring. If he wants to be a champion (or at least respected) he needs to lose weight! He could barely even throw is jab out!
Congrats to adamek, but 117-1-11 is arunnaway, which it was not. was the extreme judge Polish?Shortly after that fight ,I compared klitchcos near obvious shutout of chris to this. And the only thing that impressed me, was Adameks ability to move so evasevely for most of the fight,He moved his head out of harms way.I realy have a hard time seeing Klitchco having this problem with the smaller fighter., However good, Lets see a Pavetkin adamek fight ,to see who gets next title crack.Adamek would get battered by Vitali, roughed up good.
i don’t khow how i become the opponent in heavyweight division?
do you have courage fight me?
Adamek intend to fight KL. i think he is getting mad. Pl crush his s himself before to fight KL or beat his head onto a rock on the way go home.
I cant stand a fighter who comes into the fight over weight. you can see his blubber or like we mexicans call it “lonjas” He cusses all the time, he has no class, also i dont understand why he comes in with a Los Angeles Dodger hat on…
He’s not from LA or from LA County, he is from Riverside! a different county! He should have a hat on that says IE (Inland Empire)
Arreola cant fight with the top guys in the heavyweight division.. if Adamek fights him again Adamek will wear him down and maybe even stop him.. Arreola too slow, lack of condition, heavy on his feet, doesnt throw combinations. his throw a jab and a right hand, thats pretty much it. doesnt do any work to the body, his right hand looks like he is throwing a basbeball its not short, its not crisp.
Just upset that a Mexican American fighter makes us look bad. By the way he speaks, shows up to fights and the way he carries himself in and out the boxing ring!
Come Arreola your a professional! come to the fight in shape and ready to go. thats why no one wants to see you!
Congrats to Adamek, he deserved a victory. But great respect for Arreola for respecting the decision. Great fight.
So, now Adamek – Haye ?
It was a good fight for the Pole he was so much better ……
ARREOLA IS A BUM FIGHT…AN ALLEY FIGHTER..NO DEFENSE AND WILL HAVE BRAIN DAMAGE AT THE END OF HIS CAREER
adamek is way better than haye.haye wouldnt even be able to handle areola.pssy haye wont fight a klitschko but she might think she somehow has a shot at adamek.she doesnt
“Michael Buffer announced the scores as: 114-114, 115-113, and 117-111 all for the winner by unanimous decision Tomasz Adamek.” hahaha rediculous. does this clown know the rules about boxing?
Areola his to fat but he can figt
in the fight there meet against each other: strenght and technique, the second won. congrats Adamek
I made a very obvious typo in this article. In the last sentence I wrote “Adamek improved his unbeaten record to 41-1”…obviously he isn’t unbeaten; as I’m sure everyone here knows his single loss came at the hands of Chad Dawson.
My apologies!
Sam
“Michael Buffer announced the scores as: 114-114, 115-113, and 117-111 all for the winner by unanimous decision Tomasz Adamek.”
That is a MAJORITY DECISION, (not) a unanimous decision.
Fitness prevailed over fatness. Again we see biased scoring in California.
Adamek has done well at heavy so far, but the guy needs a good rest now after beating Estrada and Arreola this year. Next up, some kind of title shot?
Haye-Adamek looks good to me. Both around the same size and both cruiser champs.
Dude it wasn’t a unanimous dicision,it was by majority dicision that Adamek won, because on the score card was on draw!
Well well well another hypejob gets exposed hahaha! Lets revaluate this then, Estrada, Toney, Ruiz all better than arreola and chambers
Great i hope ppl on this page will stop biggin up this overweight, overrated boxer.
David Haye was right when he said he Arreola was a disgrace to boxing.
Michael Buffer announced the scores as: 114-114, 115-113, and 117-111 all for the winner by unanimous decision Tomasz Adamek.
LOL
“He Beat Me” – said Cris Arreola
so American fans please shut the f@ck up, YOU HAVE NO HEAVYWEIGHTS
Haye brillint?
I suppose he’ll prove it in next few fights.
Until then he is not.
Vluev lost to Holly, Chagaev.
I expect him to pick a challenge in the next fight.
Im trying so hard to find a way to watch a replay of this fight with no success at the moment.
Is everybody agreed as to who the winner was? Did Arreola land anything significant?
I expected Adamek to do most the work and pick up rounds but wasnt sure how hed cope if or when Arreola got through with some big power shots.
hnnssyy you mad i didnt write that yesterday and for the record haye is gonna clean up. he went mad against ruiz had a gameplan on valuev . if he fought valuev again i dont think he will run . if he ever faced one or both klitschko he would be a fool to trade . he is a highly skilled boxer/puncher who through no fault of his own has beat weaker guys and so was a bit careless because he could be. watch him raise his game wen he has to. true legend in tha making how sweet english heavyweight champion of the world. bit of a name change cus theres obviously another trueboxingfan but im numba 1 got it.
Haye is a brilliant fighter and would spark both these guys out. I hope Adamek fights Haye so we can trully measure the talent of the Hayemaker.
throwing punches: adamek – 631/197 (37%); arreola 532/127 (24%).
power shots: adamek – 309/128; arreola – 213/67
“Adamek did what he wanted, and I did what I wanted,” said Arreola, who agreed with the decision. “I thought I had him in the fifth round. He head-butted me a lot. I got buzzed by his head butts. He beat me. He did what he wanted to do in the ring. I hurt my hand in the fifth round, but I kept going.”
“Adamek improved his unbeaten record to 41-1″
lolwut?
Congrats to both guys.Arreola displayed his heart once again.First it was walking into Klitschko’s jabs until his corner stopped the fight, this one was potentially breaking his hand.He doesn’t quit, huge heart. I’m yet to see Adamek fight as a heavyweight but i’m looking forward to youtubing it.
That 117-111 score was popular last night, huh? Froch-Kessler had one too.
Wow what a fight rematch anyone?
Kłyczko (Klistschko) maybe not but glass-jaw Haye he would knockout easily.
Adamek whould never beat Haye or any of the K bros! Hell I didnt see him win the Arreola fight!
Congratulations to Adamek, he deserved a win. He has also shown that he can achieve a lot in a heavy-weight category. Arreola isn’t the best in the world, that’s true, but he’s definitely better than Haye. And kudos to Arreola for showing great sportsmanship. Even though he lost he did it with a style.
TRUEBOXINFAN, yesterday arreola was to powerful for adamek. now we’re talking this same about haye. sorry, but adamek is a good technical boxer and haye isnt. adamek has a strong chin – what aboyt haye? did you see areeola’s face?
i belive in technical boxing. i redommend you to look on mateusz masternak. in next 2 years he will be a famous polish boxer.
Arreola has a big heart! Even though he was drained he put on a show even after he busted up his hand! My Respects to both men But the true fans need a rematch!!!
WTF how did Adamek win either one of them won!!!! It was a Draw!!!
I hate Fat Boy Arreola but you got to give the guy some credit he fought with a F#*%ed up hand and went for all 12 rounds!
Rematch!!!
what happennd to arreola the tit being to big for adamek. haye would smash arreola but scotty gilfoid doesnt agree. adamek vs haye for july would be intrestin but haye to powerful 4 the pole.
speed is the name of the game!
Adamek did a great job! Arreola can’t blame no one but him self!
If Arreola would stay at 250 pounds or less when hes not sceduled to fight then he wouldnt need to drain him self from 295 to 250 in just a few months! Not only is it not healthy for you but you also lose muscle in the process!
Just finished catchin it on hbo and yes I gotta agree wit ya craig
another hyped up american figher who is trash
