Wladimir Klitschko in training camp/quotes for Chambers bout

Going/Austria (March 4, 2010) – Wladimir Klitschko (53-3, 47 KOs), of Kiev (Ukraine) and Hamburg (Germany), participated yesterday in a media work out in his training camp in Austria. He discussed his upcoming WBO, International Boxing Federation and IBO heavyweight title defense against WBO-No. 1-ranked mandatory challenger Eddie Chambers (35-1, 18 KOs), of Philadelphia.

The eagerly anticipated heavyweight championship will take place on Saturday, March 20, at ESPRIT arena Düsseldorf, Germany.

The 12-round heavyweight world championship will be accessible exclusively live on pay-per-view webTV via www.KLITSCHKO.com at a price of $14.95 USD to viewers in the US, Canada & Puerto Rico. Subscriptions will be available via www.KLITSCHKO.com starting March 8th.

WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO:

About Eddie Chambers

“Eddie Chambers is the best American heavyweight boxer right now. He is much stronger than David Haye. He is definitely the fastest heavyweight in the Top 10 of the ratings, therefore I will not underestimate him.”

About his preparation

“My preparation is going very well so far. I already have more than 80 rounds of sparring and am in very good shape. I will keep on training very hard in the next 2 weeks and will especially work on my speed.”

About the fight in the soccer stadium in Düsseldorf, Germany, in front of 51,000 people.

“I am looking forward to fighting in a big arena again. I had this experience last year in Schalke in front of 61,000 spectators. The Esprit arena is fantastic, I attended a soccer game there recently and I can tell you the fans are also great. I cannot wait to step in the ring again.”

About future fights

“I do not think about future fights right now. I have a very hard and difficult fight before me and my full concentration is on beating Eddie Chambers.”

vlad is the hardest guy in boxing to counter…he used to lean forward, over his left, like haye does now, and throw wide punches, like haye does now, and have stamina issues, like haye does now…and does have a chin that can be hurt, but is much better than haye’s…vlad would never be staggered by a cruiserweight…haye staggered by 4 for them…but now vlad stands behind a ram-rod straight, hard jab—harder than most right hands, which he throws 30-40 times a round…he is quick with both hands and has the best left hook and the straightest, hardest right hand in the heavies, he can turn his jab into a hook mid-punch, and he rarely throws a body punch or upper cut or any punch that can be countered. he has the best footwork in the heavies as well…this is quoting lewis as a color commentator…he is strong and ties up his opponants well and has learned to fight tall, with better balance and less upper body weight. how is that easy to counter…where did you guys learn boxing, or do you just watch it and make things up?

Hype job Haye will not succeed in his heavyweight quest. Why don’t all of you Haye fans note this prediction down. For it will come to pass. Haye will regret having moved to the h/w’s as soon as he gets tagged by a big punching heavyweight. That day will come. The other heavyweights are also getting sick of Haye and his mouth. They are gunning to KO Haye.

The word around the Klitschko camp is that he’s still a couple o kilos above his optimum weight. Could it this be Chambers’s lucky night?

Look at world-class trainer Manny Steward, doing the champ’s nails. That guy really takes care of his fighters. You what they say…a boxer’s hands are his tools…

  • KAL 'EL says:

This will be Klitschko’s last title defense before he gets dusted my David “The Hayemaker” Haye… Haye will knock Klitschko into retirement!!!

    @ Klitschko fan

Sure Haye has made more noise out of the ring then he has in it, I admit that and perhaps Haye would too. Though when he rocked Valuev (with his “weaker” hand) I think the Klitschko’s looked at one another and thought – So he has the power to hurt us but we know we can hurt him.

Both the Klitschko brothers would be favourite to win against Haye. I don’t think that’s up for debate. I think the excitement with Haye is that he actually has the tools to beat these guys.

People say Vitali is quick but compared with Haye, Vitali is very slow. Haye can win by decision in this fight and counter at will but I would be very surprised albeit amazed if he knocked the big man down.

Wladimir is a little quicker but is easier to counter. We know that Wladimir has the weaker chin and Haye will clock him quick and clean. This fight has KO written all over it.

David Who? Has anbybody outside the UK even heard of this guy. Does anybody outside the UK even care.

Chambers is easy fodder for Wlad. Look for a late KO.

  • rob says:

the klitschos are making a mockery of the title. safety safety safety – its pathetic!

  • Pete says:

Chambers looked awful against Povetkin – fastest heavyweight my foot.

Chambers has beaten no-one of worth and Klitschko has beaten everyone. Thats the way its going to continue.

I know you don’t want to hear it but only David Haye has the tools to beat the Klitschkos and Povetkin. Obviously Haye can be beaten by them but no-one else will come as close. Speed is everything in this game and Haye has it, Chambers doesn’t.

  • stevo says:

is that manny steward in the picture?

  • S.R.ROBINSON the true champ says:

fast eddie 2 win by lopsided decision and SHOCK THE WORLD mark my word’s the robot is done
