Soto decisions Diaz

By Eric Thomas: In a fight that was more competitive than many people thought it would be, Humberto Soto (51-7-2, 32 KOs) defeated former lightweight champion David Diaz (35-3-1, 17 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision for the vacant World Boxing Council lightweight title on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Joshua Clottey fight on Saturday night at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium, in Arlington, Texas.

The final judges scores were 115-111, 117-109, 117-109. Diaz was knocked down twice, once in the 1st and another time in the 12th. However, he was never hurt in either case. Soto built up a big lead early and then let off the pedal in the later rounds and cruised to victory.

Matt he dosn’t fight like Clotty but he throws 20 to 30 punches a round like Clotty. Floyd most of the time is behind after 6 rounds he takes over after fighters are tired after he has been just using defense. Pac dosn’t get tired and Mayweather will have to open up to catch up that is when Pac will really strt taging him. People think that Pac throws a punch floy counter ain’t going to work like that. Pac put Mayweather on ropes Pac wins exchanges. of 6to 8 punches vs 2 to Floyd. Do the math Pac throws more Floyd throws less,Pac dosn’t tire = Victory.

soto is now a 3 div champ, but … who cares

Bob – No chance in hell will Mayweather fight like clottey, ever, in any boxing ring. Pac was predictable yday, in then out throw combos. Mayweather will take his time and counter. Im not saying Pac hasn’t got a chance. But don’t put Clottey in his league. Clottey enjoyed picking up his paycheck and that’s all he was there for.

lol, anyone still wonder why Pac’s team cherrypicked David Diaz at 135?

    The guy sucks.

  • Bob says:

Mayweather can’t beat Pac!!! He won’t be able to match the 100 punch a round. Maywaether throws what 20 to 30 he will get out hustled similar to Clottey. Mayweather might win 3 or 4 rounds but thats it.

“Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang, you dont want to throw anything back bang, bang, bang, bang, here you go three, four punches bang, bang, bang, bang” LOL Jim Lampley
Never in my life have i seen a commentator get so frustrated at a fighter that he starts screaming bang, bang, bang! LMAO This fight was a joke, Pacquiao fought a punching bag. How do you out punch your opponent by 832 punches! LOL
There was no animosity before the fight not even at the weight in, where Clottey and Pacquiao couldnt even stare each other down without laughing. Clottey was just happy to be there and get his pday!!
    All 4 fights sucked!
    i want my money back!
