Roach: “He’s [Pacquiao] going to overwhelm him” [Clottey]

By Sean McDaniel: Freddie Roach as usual is predicting a knockout for his fighter WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, saying in an article at the Manila Times, “He’s [Pacquiao] going to overwhelm him” [Clottey]. With Manny’s speed and his combinations, I do believe he will be the first person to stop Clottey before the 12th round. I know Clottey is a big strong guy and a great fighter and we respect him as a real tough guy, but we also know his characteristic, we know his mistakes and we know his bad habits, which we can exploit to the hilt.” I agree with Roach.
Clottey tends to plod forward slowly, so it’s unlikely that he’ll be able to chase after Pacquiao and land anything when he backs away after landing his own shots. Clottey has little power with his right hand and tends to push with it while leaning forward. Pacquiao will eat him up with shots when Clottey does try and throw with this hand.
If Pacquiao doesn’t stop Clottey with a flurry of shots early on, he’ll get him later in the fight when Clottey runs out of gas by the 9th round. Although Clottey always looks in shape for his fights and talks about the long runs he makes during training, he fades fast and is largely ineffective after the 6th. This is the perfect opponent for Pacquiao to look good against.
The fight will be taking place at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium, where it’s expected to be filled with as many as 45,000 fans. This is a major victory for Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum, who showed that Pacquiao can get good numbers even against an obscure opponent like Clottey. Pacquiao doesn’t even need to take on a well known fighter to bring in large amounts of people.
If Pacquiao can continue to get good numbers like this against opponents that boxing fans have little knowledge of, there’s no point in risking his neck against the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley, who would have a good chance of beating Pacquiao and upsetting the gravy train. Arum has talked about having future fights at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium.
However, it’s doubtful that it will involve Pacquiao facing Mayweather, because Floyd wants Pacquiao to agree to random blood tests to ensure he’s not taking any performance enhancing drugs, but Pacquiao prefers to follow the guidelines of the Athletic Commission for whatever state he’s fighting in. As of now, Texas and Nevada, two of the states where Pacquiao could possibly be fighting next, only require urine to be tested and not blood. This is why it’s unlikely that Pacquiao will be facing Mayweather in the future unless he agrees to some form of blood tests that Mayweather will find acceptable.

pacman will knockout floyd MOUTHWEATHER JR,pacman’s punches speak louder than MOUTHWEATHER’s talking.but i doubt pacman will consider a fight against the mouth,just like me,pacman now is also curious of the MOUTH’s true gender.

When it was all said and done Cotto and Clottey were pretty evenly matched. Look for Pacquiao/Clottey to go like Pacquiao/Cotto.

What a joke of a fight. Bum Clottey and Quack Quack Duck Pac….. LAME….. Jerry Jones taking a huge loss on this fight, I bet he wish he could sell back the 20 thousand tickets he personally purchased and get his money back. You are better off taking the family out to dinner or something special and save your 50.00 for PPV, just stream it online or catch the re-run because we already know who the winner is going to be.
just thought about something Pac is on the juice. For one look at the size of his head it has grew hecka big since his first fight on HBO with the blond or brown stiriped hair. I dont care how much weight u left that doesn’t make your head get bigger. Also how u say i will take a drug test but don’t want it random? That like a job saying we gonna drug test you we will let you know when we will come by so u can get clean before we take your blood. That fool is GUILTY i will walk threw Clottey but i would like for him to loose but then again I would like to see him win so he could either loose to Mayweather of Mosley cause eighter one would beat him Mosley will knock him out and Mayweather would take him to school.
Clottey could very well chop Pacquiao down to a level that will shock the world!

Mayweather wont fight in Tx because the stuff he uses on his hamds to numb them during a fight is illegal everywhere EXCEPT LAS VEGAS!
Manny will pick him apart round by round probably drop him early then the punishment comes and by 11th ref stoppage. pac is just to fast and hits to hard for Clottey to take al 12 rounds. Pac by 11th round stopppage!
Oh, and by the way; there’s a huge population of Mexicans that live in Texas that bought 20,000 tickets to support Clottey…..not Pacquaio.

Talk about Clottey’s preferred trainer being refused entry into the country for this fight! That’s a story worth reading! Talk about how Bob Arum could’ve made 1 phonecall and straightened everything out; but how that would’ve leveled the playing field too much. Or about the request from Pacquaio to change the glove size-and the ring size! Talk about how everything to this point has been geared toward providing a mental edge for Pacquaio; but yet you still have a very confident fighter in Joshua Clottey that can’t wait for this opportunity. Clottey is in dynamite shape as always and has added a few twist to this training camp in preparation for Pacquaio. I personally am very interested to see what happens once Pacquaio is forced into a boxing match with a guy that is stronger than him and also a technically superior boxer. Pacquaio has had big problems in his past with boxers and good counterpunchers, Clottey happens to excel in both areas! Noone has ever seen Clottey so much as buzzed in a fight let alone in trouble so we know he can take a good shot and continue to fire back.
After March 13th the P4P title wil be up for grabs…Thanks to Freddie Roach and Bob Arum picking the wrong guy to fight.
pacman will chop every challenger 1 by 1.after clottey, it could be mayweather or mosley but i prefer mayweather because i want to see this loudmouth being chop to pieces.then 1 last fight before retirement would be for the 8th world title..

it will have some action but in the favor of pac…only reason why it will look like clottey has some what of a chance in the beginning ebcause pac defense isnt that great and will take some shots but none that will beat him easy fight for pac…and i want the mayweather pac fight happneing but pac will not take blood test..but arum sounds like he is soften up a little on the issue because he saying again if floyd wants to fight manny we can talk ..so if their was no chance then arum would say so special after floyd amde it clear he wil not fight manny unless he takes blood test…so lets hope the fight happens

IN BOXING, THERE IS ALWAYS A WINNER AND A LOSER. IN THE CASE OF PACMAN AND CLOTTEY, ALTHOUGH PACQUIAO IS AT EDGE, WE CAN’T 100% PREDICT THAT HE IS A SURE VICTORIOUS. REMEMBER ONCE IN A WHILE WE HEAR THIS WORD – AN UPSETTING DEFEAT IN THE HANDS OF AN UNDERDOG. THIS COULD HAPPEN TO ANY CHAMPION.

i can see it as a very entertaining fight..whoever pacman is fighting, there is always excitement and really a good value for what you’ve paid…unlike floyd jr where it’s all hype before the fight but comes fight night, all you see him is run run..boring!!

manny’s gonna win ,,clottey’s a very good fighter tho , i’d defo have him in my top5 welters,,moving on 2 Mayweather ,, he wont fight pacman in texas not a chance in fact id be surprised if he fights manny at all
