There is a recession happening and people don’t waste their money. The internet has taken the super-mega ppv numbers of the equation. Ask your acquaintances how many boxing events they have purchased. If it ain’t a live gate why buy it? Mosley / Mayweather will be “extremely” successful it they reach 1 million buys. Mosley is already old and neither Mayweather nor Mosley have a huge Mexican fan base which is where Margarito and Marquez drew in the crowds for the respective fight. Which is why Mayweather is looking to exploit May 1, Cinco De Mayo day, but I don’t think Mexican fans will buy it in volume because they typically don’t like watching outside boxers. While this fight appeals to the boxing fans it is not a cross-over event. When the numbers come in you’ll be scratching your head how come. If you don’t believe it, look up the hits live streaming is getting for good match-ups and the number of downloads fights are getting.

If you look at Dela Hoya’s ppv numbers against Mosley and Hopkins, why would Mayweather against Mosley why would you think Mosley/Mayweather be a better draw? Unless you believe Mayweather is a bigger draw than Dela Hoya. Dela Hoya was a cross-over star Mayweather is not! Hatton brought in his fans and Marquez brought in his. Mosley / Mayweather is a huge fight but I doubt it will break the 1 Million PPV mark. The only appeal for this fight is if Mayweather will lose.

i certainly doubt it….sorry…envious people always have something to say…but the facts apart from numbers speak the truth…

When people buy Manny’s fight they have big party, many people are watching in one PPV buy. They are enjoying the true pugilist!

When people are buying Floydie’s fight they are alone, with a pillow and a bud light to drown the sorrow of buying the most boring fighter (dancer) ever stepped in the ring. Those fans usually wake up in the end when Larry Merchant is asking Floydie “why so boring”…

Basically Floydie do have more PPV because his fans doesn’t want to invite people… they are embarrass to watch Floydie’s fights with friends and family.

We just found out that Manny is a draw but not the biggest draw in Boxing. He needs help to reach a million. After all the Mayweather and Cowboys stadium hype he still couldn’t crack the million.

So tell me again how Manny is the biggest draw in boxing.

Just so you know, Floyd went through 2 out of the 3 fighters you just listed before Manny did, and he fought a non-drained De La Hoya and an undefeated Hatton. Not only this, but overall sales rate Floyd as the bigger cash cow. That goes on a per-fight and per-year basis, look at the numbers because numbers don’t lie. Manny had the chance to deliver a show to the 3rd largest venue and he failed, outright. If you don’t see that, then you need to get your vision checked.

On the other hand, the PPV sales from Floyd’s fight against a bloated Marquez argue against you. If people didn’t miss Floyd, then why did he generate a larger fight revenue? People watch Floyd because they want to see how long his streak will last and because they want to see a defensive genius at work. That’s what draws people to see Floyd’s fights.

But nobody in this day and age will be better than Sugar Ray Robinson, so the title will go to Sugar first and Manny (going by your logic) next.

Floyd was never missed by the boxing world when he decided to retire. Life went on without Floyd and Pac played and still plays the main man in reviving boxing, by himself with little help from great fighters in the likes of DLH, Hatton & Cotto to name a few. Suddenly Floyd came back to the scence and proclaim himself as the greatest. Floyd was and never will be the greatest fighter until he defeats, which is very unlikely, the #1 P4P King and the Fighter of the Decade who is PACMAN.

I will still watch Floyd’s fight. Because I’m a fan of boxing and not a fan of a particular fighter.
