Mayweather-Mosley Nearly Sold-Out!

By Alexander Fugate: Tickets for the May 1st mega-fight between Floyd Maywather Jr. and Shane Mosley went on sale today, Tuesday March 9 at 1 pm EST. Ticket sales were limited to 10 per person and a limit of 2 per person for the cheapest seats available. Its been estimated that the MGM Grand will seat 17,000 for this fight and tickets are flying off the hook.

According to Stubhub.com there are only 814 tickets still available as of 6 pm EST. In just five hours over approximately 16,000 tickets have already been purchased. If anyone wants to see this fight live, they better hurry and get them while there are still some available. With these numbers it appears very likely that Mayweather-Mosley will be sold out in a matter of hours. These sales are all the more phenomenal considering the 10 ticket overall limit and the 2 ticket limit for the cheapest seats. It is becoming clear why Mayweather is known as “Money May.”

P4P rankings are just like college football polls,u move up or down according to who you fight/play.Now if #1 P4P fights #8,and a fighter not rank in the top ten and #2 fights #3 and #5,he will in my opinion be ranked #1 P4P.Now does the fighter not in the top ten jump to #1 if he beats #1 P4P,no.P4P is just rankings or opinions nothing legit.

  • dayyammmm says:

lol, wowzabean still going on with that nonsense? Manny never beat the P4P #1, he inherited the ranking after Mayweather retired. Now that Floyd’s back and taking on the #1 WW and #3 P4P contender, then yeah, a solid victory over Shane probably puts him at the #1 P4P ranking, especially if Pac looks crappy against Clottey, who’s not even close to being a P4P contender.

By Wowzabean’s ridiculous math, if Clottey beats Pac, he’s the new #1 P4P contender. LOL, what a dunce.

It is becoming clear why Mayweather is known as “Money May.”

This is B.S. Nobody really cares to see Mayweather fight, they just want to see him lose. That’s why his fights have big numbers. They are cetainly not because of his fans. So it’s unfair to say that of Mayweather-i gurantee Mosley has more fans than Mayweather.

Regardless of what the resoning is for people wanting to watch Mayweather fights the facts are that he sells alot of PPV and those who fight him get there biggest Pay-days ever. Everyone wants to say they saw when Floyd suffered his first lost. I want pay for the fight bc i will be getting it for free bc i am deployed. But if i was home in the states, i would buy both fights because i am a true boxing fan and i appreciate all aspects of it..

Lots of people in here knows nothing about business, first of all if Golden Boy wanted to sell 100k ticket trust me, they would of setup the fight in a stadium too, but the amount of tickets has no value, is the quality of the tickets, in this case “the price”. What Vegas will offer and provide for this fight, no stadium in the world can.

Everybody can sell 100k tickets for a fight if the ticket prices are below average. Golden Boy/Floyd they chose for the $$$ target market/segment and Arum chose another “the people” and “differentiating” themselves.

I’m the idiot? You have to beat number 1 to be number 1, I’m pretty sure that’s how it works in boxing, basketball, football, baseball and any other facet of life.

When you deal with rankings, especially once when you are comparing apples and oranges you can’t say he has to beat the number 1. so, if B-Hop wants to be the true P4P champion he can request to fight Pacaquaiao. Is that what you are say..Those just look at the body of work you have accumulated.

  • Caine says:

He has beaten the #1… LIGHTWEIGHT!

  • Caine says:

@JAYSMOOTH, it’s common sense, which you seem not to have. It’s P4P, ranking fighters regardless of weight class. They’re both WW, so the weight factor cancels out and whatever ranking they have on WW should also be their P4P rank as well. Well, anyway, we’ll see who’s the real #2 after May 1st.

  • Fergal says:

Let’s just get back to the issue Mosley is going to make mayweather look stupid and weak.

  • jetRock says:

Its no surprise it will get sold out as MGM only holds 17,000 seats with little tvs in little corners….the Texas Stadium holds over 100,000 and a HDTV the size of a 3 Story Building!!
I dont see why Pacman vs. Clottey cant make over 3 million PPV….the March 13 fight provides a very exciting fight its exciting as Pacman is very exciting to watch !! non-stop ANNIHILATION !!! I wouldnt be surprised if MMA, Kick Boxing and Martials Arts enthusiast will be watching the Pacman -Clottey fight !

It’s funny how the Ring ranks Floyd at #2 P4P overall, but #3 next to Manny & Mosley in WW.

Whats so funny about that? Thats the way it should be. He hasn’t fought a WW since coming from retirement so he couldn’t be ranked higher than them n the division until he fights and beats someone in WW division. Thats basic logic and understand..Something i see some of you lack alot of…

  • JAYSMOOTH says:

    @JesusJones says:

Once again, i see you didn’t read the entire post. You have selective reading and selective understand. Quit taking bits and pieces of my post and trying to flip it. I don’t remember exactly what i said. But i am certain you have it saved somewhere bc you have no life. I was making a comparison between Manny, Tiger, MJ, Kobe and LBJ. I was saying that Manny wasn’t a big fish like those guys were in the media. I didn’t go into the details of his life or relationship or affairs or anythings else. No, i am not trying to school you because you don’t see things through logic or reality. so for me to even try to talk to you is like talking to a tree. So, yes i am talking to you if you can understand me..If you are lost, i will be glad to explain in dept to you..

lovboxing@ floyd has been beaten in amateur his record 84 win and 6 defeats ,he has been beaten .manny didnt do amateur but he lost 2 lose 48ko 50 win 2 draws.
both of them have loses ,only shawn porter has been undefeated in 276 amateur fight and 9 pro fight so he undefeted in a 285 fights total..
    ……………………………………………………..

are you serious right now? I am totally convinced that most of you guys are dumb, ignorant, and fake boxing fans. Amateur boxing is just was the name says amateur. Since when do you take college stats and carry them over to the NFL, MLB or NBA. Do you know that when you box amateur that you box between 3-6 rounds on some occassions 8. So, to use that to say he lost Amateur fights is petti. It just another way for you and the likes of you to try to find a flaw in floyd and give your boi Pacquiao an advantage when there isn’t one. Get a life and like WOWWWEBEAN or what ever his name is, the two of you need to go to a playground and play with kids and stop trying to conversate with grown MEN because you are way out off your league.

You are just as ignorant as the guy u are trying to defend. This isnt a 1 vs 4 match up in Clottey vs Pacquaio. Now, i am curious to know as well who has he beaten to be considered #1.

    Diesel,

BTW, you won’t find the #1 P4P after May 1st, you’ll just see who locks in the #2 seed. Sorry but a #2 can’t beat a #3 and be #1. It’s like if Orlando Magic beats the Celtics, they’re ranked above the Cavs, doesn’t make sense now does it………………………………………………….

You are really stupid. You say you can’t become #1 by beating a number #3. Yes, he can if the #1 is fighting a number (not ranked) then the #2 could move up because he has fought better competition. I he convincely beat Shane then i don’t see why he wouldn’t move up..Like i said if…When they determine P4P rankings they actually use caliber of fighter as a gauging criteria. Its call your strength of schedule in other sports. So, in reality and for people who understand logic you can move up without beating #1. Besides Shane is the #1 Welterweight and he has a Belt. you are really a joke

Mayweather and Mosly sold out for 17,000 tickets.
Pacquiao and Clottey sold out for 45,000 tickets.
    Lets do the math.
    Who sold more tickets?
Now we only have to wait who could sell more on PPV.
Facts Mayweather and Mosly are both Americans fighting in American soil.
Pacquiao and Clottey are both outsider and fighting here in America.
I wonder if Pacquiao and Clottey is Americans, they probably sell all 80,000 sits in the Texas Stadium!
    …………………………………………………….

Yeah stupid, they did sell more tickets bc they were in a “FOOTBALL STADIUM”. Which hold over 100,000 plus people compared to the casino where Mayweather and Mosley will fight it only hold around 20,000 people. Now you go back and do some more make. Problem solving to be exact. I f*^K dumb and ignorant can some of you people be. I think even a kindergartener could have figured out if you have more settingyou are going to get more people.

Money May is definitely going to need a large sum of money for the defamation lawsuit with Manny Pacquiao. Now one of his entourage has been apprehended from the skating rink incident last August. If you can recall the 24/7 last year with Mayweather roller skating in the ring with his kids. He’s going to need that money to keep his boy from dropping dime. He’s looking at 94 years. Man, it’s going to be a lump sum of money to keep him quiet…. And on another criminal note, 1 felony count was drop for Uncle Roger Mayweather. Alright, just a few more to go and it’s gravy train again.

Pressure is all on Money May come May 1st 2010. Will he lose cause theirs just too much on his plate, or will he win it cause he knows he needs the money or else.

In any case for all you Floyd fans. It’s all down hill from here. That little bird will sing a song like no tomorrow. Hope they got the very best Vegas Detectives has to offer on this one. Floyd is going to need xy-lo-caine injected in his head when he hears the bad news.

You are very very ignorant. This is a boxing page, the intent here is to talk about boxing and not peoples personal life. If you want to do that go to some gossip form and post those comments. If you can’t talk intelligent boxing, this isn’t the place for you.. i am more than certain they are things that we could say personally about every boxer out there. Just like Morrisson getting arrested for weed. But it not called for. The defamation lawsuit is legit to talk about but have you seen anything lately on this matter. If so please enlighten me on it.

Quit with the low blows and keep it Clean….

This isn’t news, it’s 17,000 seats! I know that this is in response to the articles about Pac’s fight selling out, but that is 45,000 seats and it is the first fight ever in Cowboy Stadium! That is news because of the number of seats and the venue. Don’t get me wrong, Mosely-Mayweather is by far the better fight; Pac-Clottey is a bigger “event” than it is a fight IMO.

LOL…are you seriously going to try to compare the capacity of a football stadium which hold 100,000+ people to a casino which is only set up to hold what 17,000 people. The Mayweather vs Mosley fight has nearly sold out in one day with seats ranging from 150-1250 dollars. It took the Pac-Clottey fight to get to 40,000+ with the $50 sets. I am pretty sure if shane and Floyd fought in bigger location they would have sold more tickets. 17,000 is the most they are going to allow to sit. Unlike the Dallas BS that keep extendin they seating.

  • kray says:

@mr.sweetsci- But, what was Manny’s PFP ranking after he beat those HOF’s, when Floyd was still active?

  • Bicol Express says:

I’m still astonished that a lot of people are still in denial that Floyd in no longer the no 1 P4P, Floyd is not the Fighter of the Year nor the Fighter of the Decade. Respected Boxing analysts have made the decision that PACMAN is the no 1 P4P. Deal with it.

  • mr.sweetsci says:

Lil giant…..here’s your answer, name any hall of famers from super featherweight all the way up to welterweight. and please don’t make any excuses for these hall of famers he beat. can you name at least one? here’s one for you….Marco Antonio Barrera. want one more? Erik Morales.

  • Caine says:

It’s funny how the Ring ranks Floyd at #2 P4P overall, but #3 next to Manny & Mosley in WW.

lol @Bri, so you mean he should fight Hopkins? That would be great! For the record, Hopkins ducked Pacquiao ;)

  • LuvBoxing says:

    @rat-tat

Floyd was never beaten after being named the muthical “P4P” champion. Furthermore, he has never lost as a professional, which is what matters.

  • rat-a-too says:

Aye Bri, what the hell happened to Pacland? It seems like they’ve actually calmed down. Bet we are gonna have to hear it if Clottey don’t throw no punches.

  • jason says:

In Pac’s defense, Cotto was his first dip into the welterweight pool, so we couldn’t really expect him to take on Mosley right off top. Now if he get’s past Clottey he should be ready to step up.

  • bri says:

hait to kill your theory cain but clottey is rated #20 p4p in the world. its more like the lakers matchin up with orlando and cleveland matchin up with the bobcats. everyone manny faced has come off a sizable loss. delahoya — floyd. hatton — floyd cotto —- antonio clottey —– cotto. and next opponent is suppose to be antonio who lost to —- mosley. had not matched up with #2 or #3 p4p and they are both in his weiht class. should have matched up with mosley instead of cotto. mosley was willin to drop to 140 manny said no. said no money in matchin up with mosley. mosley floyd seem to be doin ok

  • LuvBoxing says:

Floyd is still the P4P champ since he has never been beaten. If anything Pac is the “interim” champ.

Of course Pac earned more in 09′ since he had two fights to Mayweathers 1. We know that Mayweather earned around $20 mil for his fight with JMM and I think Manny made about $30 in his two fights.

No one should be bragging about this selling out, but no one should be bragging about “45,000″ either. Everyone knows that is a sham since Jerry Jones is footing the bill on a lot of them. Furthermore, they are charging around $50 for most of the seats.

If Mayweather v Mosley was in Cowboys Stadium they would probably sell 70K+, without the Jones sham.

Look at the sponsors for Mayweather v Mosley. Arum could never sniff sponsors like that.

  • Caine says:

He beat them all… just like Cavs beats most of the teams in the NBA, so they’re #1. These fight is just like the NBA playoffs, #1 vs #4 & #2 vs #3… Hopefully we’ll see the winners of both fights go against each other after these bouts for the Championship!

No one is mad you just be on this site riding nuts. We get it you are a Manny fan and you don’t like May. But Manny is get rapped by Arum and Top Rank trust. Manny is a good fighter and that is the only thing I care about what he does in the ring. Same for PBF. This will be Manny’s first test in a couple of years (since Marquez) and I would love to see how u reacts. His last 4 fights have been against hand picked fighters coming off loses. these are just facts. Well Clottey is coming off a lost two but everyone knows he won that fight.

  • Lets hope so says:

Well, given that Mayweather and Mosley are top tier fighters . . I expect them to attract a sizeable audience. And hopefully, they get a good PPV . . Golden Boy is already boasting 3 million PPVs . . sounds like the cart is going ahead of the horse.

Pac against Clotty (not a well known fighter except for hard core afficionados) had almost 20,000 tickets sold (versus 16,000 above) on the first day . . which is amazing considering these fighters are non-americans and its really Pacquiao driving the ticket sales. (cavaet though is that tickets in Dallas are cheaper compared to Vegas).

Nonetheless, its off to Dallas . . and hopefully another alternative mecca to boxing!
