HBO BAD This Saturday: Urango vs Alexander
HBO’s hit late-night boxing series features a junior welterweight unification showdown when HBO BOXING AFTER DARK: DEVON ALEXANDER VS. JUAN URANGO is seen SATURDAY, MARCH 6 at 9:30 p.m. (live ET/tape-delayed PT), from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., exclusively on HBO. The HBO Sports team of Bob Papa, Lennox Lewis and Max Kellerman will be ringside for the event, which will be available in HDTV, closed-captioned for the hearing-impaired and presented in Spanish on HBO Latino.
Undefeated titleholder Devon Alexander (19-0, 12 KOs) from St. Louis takes on fellow titleholder Juan Urango (22-2-1, 17 KOs), originally from Monteria, Colombia and now living in south Florida, in a scheduled 12-round bout. Making his HBO debut and first title defense, the 22-year-old Alexander has risen quickly in the division, using fast hands and quick feet to win his title. Two-time 140-pound champ Urango, 29, is known for his hard hitting and iron chin, and has previously battled the likes of Ricky Hatton and Andre Berto.
This HBO BOXING AFTER DARK presentation is part of an evening of great sports programming on March 6. Debuting just before the bout at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT), the 90-minute documentary “Magic & Bird: A Courtship of Rivals” examines the historic rivalry and friendship of NBA greats “Magic” Johnson and Larry Bird. Debuting immediately following the bout at 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT), the 30-minute special “Road to Dallas: Pacquiao vs. Clottey” previews the March 13 welterweight title showdown, to be presented on HBO Pay-Per-View from the new Cowboys Stadium.
