Hatton’s future to be announced in a press conference on Friday

By Peter Wells: After the breaking news that Ricky Hatton had said he was retiring from the sport, I have just found out the full details of what has gone on. On the weekend just gone Ricky Hatton told some of his mates at a pub in Tenerife that he was ready to hang up the gloves for good. His family are now trying to clear up what has been said and what Ricky’s decision is.

Hatton was due to return June 26th on Sky, and had just started light training. After 3 days he stopped going to the gym and went to his mates stag weekend. Hatton’s had a great career and would be best for him to quit now. He has 4 stone to lose to get down to 140lbs.

The full details of Ricky Hatton’s future will be announced at a press conference in London on Friday.

HATTONS GOT SO MUCH LEFT! THAT WASNT THE BEST RICKY HATTON, IF IT WAS HE WOULDNT BE COMING BACK.

THE HITMAN SHOULD CONTINUE. THE DAGGERS ARE OUT AND HE CAN PROVE EVERYONE WRONG ONCE AGAIN. JUST NEEDS TO GET HIS ARSE IN THE GYM AND DO IT. OTHERWISE HE’LL BE REMEMBERED BEING FLAT ON HIS BACK! COME ON RICKY!!

Great choice Hitman. You gave me and others an amazing journey, you even got me into this sport. You made a nation proud and you only fell short to 2 of the best fighters that ever lived. That was your best quality, being fearless, and always climbing to the top. Thanks mate, your a true legend. Jordan Stoddart, Boxing Fan.

@ Lucas: Old legends should fight? I guess you are looking forward to Hopkins/ Jones fight? BTW, I don’t think Hatton is old, maybe Marquez.

  • JACK FLORES says:

IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR HIM TO RETIRE EARLY TO ESCAPE MORE PUNISHMENT AND KNOCKOUT FROM YOUNG GENERATION OF FIGHTERS IN THE RING. HE HAS ACCOMPLISHED A LOT DURING HIS PRIME AND IT IS HIGH TIME TO TAKE A COMPLETE REST FROM BOXING AND ENJOY THE FULNESS OF LIFE.

Ricky parties like a rock star. I’ve been seeing pictures of him and he’s big as a house. Boxing is full time. There is no off season. He had a good run. Much respect to him and his family…

  • Lucas says:

That really really sucks. I really wanted to see him fight Marquez. Look, the bottom line is that Marquez is washed up too and they are both OLD legends. Old legends should fight each other and thats the bottom line. Man, this really sucks. Or I would have liked to see Hatton vs Cotto.

  • Tim says:

Good – He should retire, what more can he achieve?
