Froch not worried if Calzaghe helps Kessler
By Nate Anderson: World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-0, 20 KO’s) isn’t concerned whether Joe Calzaghe (46-0, 32 KO’s) ends up helping his April 24th Super Six tournament opponent Mikkel Kessler. In an article at ESPN, the 32-year-old Froch says “Calzaghe was no man enough to fight me and maybe feels a bit more secure whispering in another fighter’s ear than taking my punches himself. He never had the bottle to fight me, so how can he know how to beat me?”
Calzaghe never fought Froch, but he would still be an excellent choice for help because of Calzaghe’s extensive boxing knowledge. Calzaghe has an uncanny ability to dissect opponents and find out their weak points and then attack it. Calzaghe is well familiar with Froch’s fighting style having seen many of his bouts in the past. He would obviously be a great help for Kessler if the Danish star is really open to having him assist for this fight.
It used to bother Froch that Calzaghe, while he was still fighting, never showed any interest whatsoever in fighting Froch, despite Carl having an unbeaten record and sharing the same weight division. While Froch was knocking out one opponent after another, Calzaghe instead was facing the likes of Jeff Lacy, Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones Jr., Peter Manfredo Jr. and Mikkel Kessler late in his career.
In fairness to Calzaghe, the public interest just wasn’t there at that point in Froch’s boxing career for Calzaghe to want to fight Froch. The money fights were against Jones, Hopkins, Lacy and Kessler. Froch still hadn’t built up the kind of name at that point for a fight between Calzaghe and him to be a big success. However, by the time that Froch gets through with the Super Six tournament, depending on how well he does, he could then be a big enough star for a fight between Calzaghe and him to be huge in the UK. Regrettably, Calzaghe is retired now, so even if Froch ends up winning the Super Six tournament, a fight between Froch and Calzaghe would seem remote.

what you all going to do when froch wins the whole thing?
webber you said it at home in the ring in his home town are not to far awayhe like a girl rather than bad mouth froch fight him sell out millenium stadium, wembley , m.e.n or he can keep hiding behind his pension plan
I dont like froch but i think he has a point here, it might make a difference if joe had fought froch in the past. Then again having help from a great cant hurt.
Calzaghe would rip Frochs head off and out box him Froch will come unstuck in this tournament, both arthur also limited and the highly skillfull ward will beat him. I dont dislike froch and I would hope he does well, and he has got heart is taking on the big fights and wants to do well he is quite steely and good luck to him, he is fit for 12 rounds has a the big punch and a good chin… its just he was getting whopped by taylor a former middle weight was down in the fight and was outboxed against dirrell but they let him off the hook, and he got a dodgy decision, the other fighters at the top level will not do that so he will face a points loss. Jury is out on Kessler of today either ward was outstanding of Kessler had an off night, I am not sure its the same kessler that fought andrede or who fought so well but lost against calzaghe. If kessler can discover that form he should put a beating on Froch. Either way Calzaghes the man I hope he stays retired though because I get the feeling he will be offered 10mill for a comeback against the supersix winner and if its a come forward brawler like arthur that gets through calzaghe will find it hard to resist, Arthur is made for calzaghe that would be a total lacy style demolition. Calzaghe is a fighter one of only a few that generally feels at home jn the ring he really wants to be there and comes to fight, and he may miss it. I hope he stays retired though just for him and his legacy and enjoys his stella 46/0.
Calzaghe usually figures out the fighters in the ring but his ability to disect opponents could prove very useful to kessler. Froch better be worried.
Froch is going to batter the Dane around the ring!
Joe Calzaghe was a great fighter and any words of advice would be helpfull to any current fighter but I don’t think Kessler can change his style and suddenly start throwing 1000 punches with blurring hand speed and deadly accuracy!!
Mikkel Kessler is what he is a very good brawler with decent skills and no amount of good advice is going to change that.
I think it’s a close fight this one but I am going for Kessler becouse I think Froch is just too easy to hit and the slower of the two but you can’t deny his heart though!!
Why should Froch worry?
Froch is completely eluded, during the first few rounds an out of shape taylor made Froch look slow and amtuerish, Joe is relentlish for all 12 rounds. Froch would get annilated.
Froch talks too much. Funny he thinks that calzaghe was scared of him. Lives in his own little world
god damn froch is an idiot. he thinks he is far better than he actually is. calzaghe would have walked over him & not even broke a sweat.
he should be very worried
