Ariza wants Amir Khan to “destroy” Malignaggi for his comments about Pacquiao

By William Mackay: Alex Ariza, the strength and conditioning coach who works with trainer Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao, wants World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan to destroy Paulie Malignaggi when the two fighters meet up in two months in a title match on May 15th, at the Madison Square Garden. Ariza, according to Insidesports.ph, is upset with some of the comments that Malignaggi made Pacquiao in the past. Ariza says “I want him [Khan] to destroy Malignaggi for what he’s said” [about Pacquiao].
Ariza probably doesn’t need to go to any extremes of putt Khan through a hard camp of exercises, because this is a fight that Khan should be able to win without too many problems just with a normal training camp. Malignaggi can’t punch his way through a wet paper bag, and is more of a finesse fighter. He’s lost two out of his last four fights and seems to be on the downside of his career.
Beating Malignaggi shouldn’t be a problem for Khan, unless Amir’s chin is weaker than I thought it was. This is a fight that was selected by Golden Boy Promotions, the promoters of Khan, to get him a name with the American public. Malignaggi was selected because he’s well known with the hardcore boxing fans and somewhat known to casual boxing fans on the East coast of the United States.
Malignaggi isn’t considered dangerous like some of the arguably much better light welterweights in the division like Timothy Bradley, Devon Alexander, Marcos Maidana, and Victor Ortiz, to name a few, and hence Malignaggi was picked over those fighters to be the opponent for Khan. Amir says he wants to fight the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao within the next 18 months.
The only question that needs to be answered is who Khan will be fighting in the next 18 months to build up to fighters like Mayweather and Pacquiao. There are only so many Malignaggi, Dmitri Salita and Marco Antonio Barrera types to go around before Khan would have to eventually fight someone that is young and dangerous.
One would hope that Khan will finally be put in with a live body before he gets to the point where he’s set up with a mega fight against some of the big stars of the sport. Khan may not have to, though, because he’s a huge star in the UK, and seems to be popular regardless of who he fights or doesn’t fight. His fans just like to see him fight, period.

I think paulie will suprise khan, he will have his eyebrows waxed, have 20 pony tails and with many frills in his boxing shorts. BEWARE KHAN!! He can’t knockout a 12 yr old girl but his surname sounds like PASTA!!!
Paulie is crazy but I think he will beat Kahn. Whatever happens this will be a fun fight to watch.

Ariza needs to be under investigation. He’s the “source” of these exotic substances that allow Manny to throw 100 punches a round for 12 rounds when his average used to be 60-65.

Kahn is young good prospect, he’s over his head I think with Paulie is too slick and experienced. This sounds like a Pavlic vs Hopkins thing all over again, I may be wrong but anyway I am looking forward to it.

It’s hard to knock out defensive boxers because they don’t want to engage. They pot shot and run away especially if they have the reach advantage. It’s a guerilla technique. It takes years to defeat the guerillas while defensive boxers ony got 12 rounds(30 minutes?) to survive. The best way to change boxing is not through random blood test but to make the boxing ring small enough for the boxers to just punch each other to death. Now that’s what should make boxing exciting again.
People are not paying to watch boxers dance around the ring. There’s a place for that we call “Dancing with the Stars” and as far as I know, “Dancing with the Stars” does not belong to any boxing ring. And again, as far as I know, I have never seen a true warrior who joined “Dancing with the Stars”. Name me a legendary boxer/warrior who joined “Dancing with the Stars”? Mike Tyson? Hagler? Hearns? Duran? Fraizer? Norton? Sugar Ray Leonard? Julio Cesar Chavez Sr?

Basing this article off of the numbers alone without reading any fine print.
Malignaggi lost to Hatton, because he was obviousy not be trained properly. His style of fighting took a 180 (and Im talking about his actual style, not his feather fisted-ness, so dont jump on that) since he swtiched trainers.
His only other loss (besides Cotto a POUND 4 POUND CONTENDER), was a 100% B.S. totally crooked WRONG decision to Juan Diaz, which he immediately got a chance to correct, and did so with flying colors.
Malignaggi may not be a knockout artist, but he is quick moving, has some of the best ring awareness I have seen, and can still get a few combos in there.
Khan, on the other hand, got hit with, what idiot enthusiasts calls, a lucky shot, and was knocked out in the first round of a fight.
I will say it was unlike him to go down in such a fashion, but if there is another person that can mimic the type of hitting that will get him frustrated and to a point of not fighting properly. It’s Malignaggi.
The kid is 23 years old. He has the experience of a toddler. Anger and Frustration will still flow through him like water. Malignaggi knows that, and he will exploit it.
Look into SOME facts before you blab your mouth off.
Malginaggi should be 29-1 at WORST 28-2 because there was nothing he could do about Hatton.

My advice to Khan is careful what you eat or take when you go for that training camp. Be responsible, if you are not sure what they are giving you, please ask.
Otherwise have a good camp, and I hope you will be at your best when you meet the Magic Man.

Paulie is an amazing guy just becuase he lack power doesnt mean he’s rubbish, Floyd wins some fights by “just boxing” as well. This is a step in the right direction… just dont take it easy cos Malignagi is looking mint lately
How is Paulie on the downside? He looked pretty good against Diaz and he staggered him. I wouldn’t be surprised if Paulie beats Amir. Paulie can take a punch, plays defense, and can frustrate a guy who is expecting to win by knockout. Don’t expect to kayo a guy who has never been kayo’d.
