Would Pacquiao get dominated by Mayweather?

By Esteban Garduno: I think it’s for the best that Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. ended up not fighting. If they had fought, I have a strong feeling that the Pacquiao hype machine would end on that night with Mayweather making Pacquiao look ridiculous in beating him either by knockout or a hopelessly one-sided decision. Pacquiao is just too wide open and flawed with his fighting ability to beat a skilled boxer like Mayweather, in my view. Pacquiao is great at beating fighters that come at him and the type that are there for him to hit, but he looks bad if he has someone that can counter punch and move.
Pacquiao would likely have no chance against Mayweather, and would probably get picked apart. It’s good that Pacquiao was spared having to face that kind of a boxer, because by not fighting Mayweather – or even Shane Mosley or Timothy Bradley – Pacquiao can probably retire on a strong note by maybe beating up Miguel Cotto again for the WBA light middleweight title.
There’s also a fight against Edwin Valero, a straight ahead fighter that seems to be made for Pacquiao’s style of fighting. Mayweather, though, would probably be a living nightmare for Pacquiao. Both bigger and faster than Pacquiao, Mayweather would have almost every advantage you could think of in a fight against Pacquiao.
It wouldn’t matter what Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach came up with to beat Mayweather, it wouldn’t likely work at all. Mayweather would beat Pacquiao down, hitting him each time Pacquiao tried to throw one of his shots. Pacquiao wouldn’t be able to take advantage of any of Mayweather’s mistakes, because he wouldn’t be making any.
Mayweather wouldn’t be initiating the action like Pacquiao victims Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto. Instead, it would be Pacquiao who be forced to come at Mayweather and take his pin point shots to the head. I think it would be just an awful fight for Pacquiao. And what would be really bad is all the people that would see the fight.
The entire world would watch it, and remember it long after. Roach wouldn’t have a clue what to do to help Pacquiao out in this one. It’s beyond what Roach could come up. Mayweather has been trained since he was a small child at boxing, and has learned the craft quite well. And his physical tools make him even better. This fight would be like teacher beating up pupil.
I think it would be a massive slaughter with Pacquiao getting backside kicked by Mayweather. It’s a good thing that they don’t fight. Pacquiao is better off facing Cotto again, winning his 8th world title, and then maybe beating up Edwin Valero for his final fight. Those two fights would be an excellent way for Pacquiao to retire. He doesn’t need Mayweather.

Who is to say what will happen when Mayweather and Pacquiao meet. That is the thrill of boxing. Any fighter with loaded power in both hands can swing a fight in their favor on any given night. Who will win, who knows? That is why boxing fans will pay for the PPV if it ever happens. Which I do not forsee contracts signed. Yes, Mayweather has a great defensive game, and NO KNOCKOUT POWER. In essence, Pacquiao is a much more developed fighter than the last time he saw Marquez, as if they met now, Marquez would be that much more tattered than before. I foresee Floyd giving problems to Manny, but, his hand speed, lateral movement, GUTS AND HEART, will perhaps land him with a split decision in the 12th round. Anything can happen in boxing, no matter how great a boxer is. Anyone can be beaten on any given night. Manny has grown alot over the years, and Floyd has the best defense I have ever seen in the sport. I see Manny coming out on top if he sticks to a game plan. As for Mosely, he could possibly see a knockdown in the fight, but, I pick Floyd on a 12 round decision. Floyd is a better counter-puncher than Shane, and Mosley has problems in the later rounds.

I wish Paqcuaio can give up his ROIDS for a fight with Mayweather. I wonder when Pacquaio is finally going to face a slick boxer, and not some flat footed, come straight forward, brawling Mexican. Clottey is no different, he has no movement and he is basicly a statue in the ring, just like all of Pacquaio’s cherry picked opponents. He complained that Yuri Foreman was too tall and ducked him, but I remember Mayweather fighting a taller Diego Corralles, and flooring him like 8 times. And they say that Mayweather cherry picks?????

Writer is great fanof PBF. But we all know that Floyd never fought anyone in his full power. He ducked all fighters that could do damage to him. And for sure it would be just oposite. We would see Manny demolishing Floyd. He would have nowhere to escape. I just hope this fight will happen but chances are very small. With all Mayweather advantages why the fuss with random drug testing if its going to be that easy? Thats the part I dont understand.
Mayweather calls himself “money” but puts up a road block that ultimately gets the fight cancelled. With 40 million dollars on the table, I would let Pacquiao fight me with a baseball bat.
Its clear that mayweather has a superior style advantage, but one of his biggest fears is getting knocked out from a stupid punch. Pacquaio posses that power to deliver that blow where he cant see it coming.
I dont see Mayweather knocking out Pacquaio, but if he wins it would be 12th round decision. If Pacquaio wins, its going to be the knockout heard around the world..

floyd haters/ pac asian nughuggers make me laugh. get off floyd nuts and go concentrate on the garbage unknown clottey vs pac fight which is barely making pay per view event. may i say? boringggggggggggg!!!!!! floyd is the best of our time 40-0. keep hating cause hes young and rich and UNDEFEATED! pacquio has steroid drug test to worry about right now,, shane is a beast too and i hope floyd can take a win and solidify his status as legendary. floyd fight is gona be way too big for a pacquiao who is ducking not only floyd but also shane.. shane came to wild card gym to challenge manny twice, and even after accepting all the terms, roach turned it down saying “ur too much of a good fighter” hahaha.

Hatton fought at 147lbs once against Luis Collazo but got his butt kicked so he went back to 140lbs but he got the decision because of the potential “Undefeated” fight with Floyd…..but at the time he fought Collazo, Floyd was still at 140lbs himself still trying to fight Arturo Gatti……lol shows how much you know

Pacquiao was still holding onto his superfeatherweight and lightweight title when he fought De La Hoya at welterweight. De La hoya said he was in good shape before he fought Pacquiao. Maybe De La Hoya didn’t train hard enough. Most people thought the move from superfeatherweight to lightweight to welterweight will make Pacquiao sluggish. But Pacquiao trained hard. Each pound he added to his weight, he converted to muscle, not flab.

Not a significant height difference between Zab and Pacquiao. Pacquiao has staying power and a more powerful punch.

Manny stated in a press release on Dec. 26 he wouldn’t give blood inside of 30 days of a fight because he felt it would weaken him. It was pointed out to him, that he gave blood on video 24 days before his fight with Hatton 9 months earlier. He then said he wouldn’t give blood anywhere inside of 24 days because it would weaken him. He then signed to fight Clottey. Now he’s on video giving blood just 20 days before his fight with Clottey. He had a superstition about that just over a month ago, when Mayweather was trying to fight him. I guess his superstition disappeared as soon as he knew it wouldn’t be Mayweather facing him. PACDUCK STRIKES AGAIN! MOSLEY, MARQUEZ, AND NOW MAYWEATHER! QUACK QUACK QUACK, why is Manny fighting Clottey??? Because he is scared to fight the best! i’m sorry i wasn’t specific when i wrote manny never giving marquez a third bout. i was talking immediateley after the rematch. the whole boxing world including you would have preferred a third marquez bout over david diaz anyday. are you saying that marquez would have sacrificed a third manny bout for random blood testing? that’s a floyd issue, not golden boy’s problem. marquez has been chasing manny since the rematch and would have taken the fight if it was offered. but it wasn’t. and if manny was to have fought at 140 in march, he should have chose bradley. but your OPINION that manny would destroy marquez in a junior welterweight contest is funny! i never seen a better manny than the one against marquez in the rematch. you may think he’s gotten better but since but his game is just the same. the opponents are not!

Manny couldn’t give Marquez a third fight because he’s w/GBP and he said he’d demand the same kind of testing. Now if he took testing for JMM and not for PBF everyone would view it as a duck. i’m tired of everyone thinking the first castillo fight was a robbery. it was a close fight that floyd pulled out in the late rounds by standing toe to toe with the champ and earning rounds with the most accomplished lightweight of the 2000′s. you can talk all you want about what judah and oscar did to floyd but you failed to mention that both are nothing like manny. oscar was a boxer with a great jab and hook. judah was a boxer puncher who loved to counterpunched. oscar won the first half of the floyd fight with his jab but guess who shut it down. floyd knew that judah was a frontrunner so he purposely waited for the storm to run its course. ricky may have won 2 rounds against floyd and that’s a stretch. the point being is this. floyd is best against pressure fighters. he can pick them apart all night. that is certain. and the other truth is that manny cannot beat an elite counter puncher. that’s why manny never gave marquez a third fight. manny gave a third fight to morales cause he knew he had his number. he never figured out marquez. at least floyd rematched with his hardest fight in castillo and boxed his ears off.

Mosley wants the fight, and he knows he won’t get it if he asks for blood-testing.
That’s actually true for everyone except for FLoyd Mayweather. If Marquez wasn’t with GBP, he would have fought Pac with no testing. As bad as he wants Pac, he would let something dumb like that get in the way.

Look the best way to beat PBF is to pressure him, reflectively PBF does well against pressure fighters. It’s a catch 22, so it seems like you can’t win. What Manny would have to do is dominate the earlier rounds and try to get a knock down. He’d just have to eat Floyd’s jabs and dig into him. The issue w/other boxers, ala the ODLH fight, is that they gas out trying to pressure the guy. Manny doesn’t gas out. If he can pile on 24/7 pressure w/4-6 punch combinations from VARYING angles, he can pull of the W.

I have a lot of respect for both Mayweather and Pacman. Both of them are great fighters. Floyd is a master of defensive work and Pacman is a pleasure to watch as he will fight anyone. I don’t see Floyd dominating Pacman. I really see it the other way around. The guy that will beat Mayweather will be a pressure fighter. Castillo showed the way in the first fight, Floyd got a gift big time. Oscar would have beaten Floyd if he hadn’t have gassed by round 8, and Floyd scraped through with a split decision. Judah gave Floyd all kinds of problems early on but didn’t have the brain to carry it on. The Hatton fight was pretty even for the first 6 rounds or so until Ricky got frustrated. Pacman would beat Mayweather as he wouldn’t gas and Roach would have the perfect game plan for the fight. Floyd is not unbeatable by any means and if he thinks Mosley will be a walk in the park then he is going to be in for a rude awakening.
I firmly believe that Pac would get spanked but I think he has a small chance to knock Money down early and create more excitment. Pac fans say PBF has trouble with lefties, Pac has trouble with Boxers. The only difference is Pac hasn’t shown what he’s learned from fighting boxers because he hasn’t fought one since JMM. But anyway…I think Shane would win against Manny, as he destroyed an excellant fighter who is more coordinated, has better footwork, and is a slicker boxer, AND is a southpaw like Manny…Luis Colazzo. I think this was a case of styles making fights, because Colazzo still has my utmost respect as a fighter, because he rocked Berto (then got robbed). But you see my point; Manny had bad habbits. His footwork is bad (almost like he’s off balance, he drops his rt to throw the left, and reaches to throw the jab, almost as if he bends at the waiste. And as we know..he cannot afford to give up anymore hight.
Now having said that, Idon’t think that on his best day, and Floyd’s worst, that Manny can beat Floyd. Manny’s entertaining, but that don’t equal the speed, counterpunching, accuracy, and adjustability of FMJ. I agree that Mayweather has faught some soft comp, but now Fighting Mosley is a great strategy, as Manny is fighting a journeyman in a few weeks.

Mayweather was welterweight at that time already. Pacquiao went up in weight to fight De La Hoya. In that fight, Pacquiao is the one believed to be out of his depth. So De La Hoya should have destroyed Pacquiao,like he gave Mayweather a fight. Against a smaller man, De la Hoya should have done better. But how could he, Pacquiao was better than Mayweather.
When Hatton fought Mayweather, Hatton was out of his optimum weight. You can’t say weight doesn’t matter because what else are weight limits for. Otherwise let Klitschko brothers fight Hatton.
When Mayweather fought Marquez, he was over the weight limit. Those extra weight gives a you a chance to absorb punches. Mayweather even weighed more during the fight itself. People were joking Marquez was fighting a heavyweight. On the otherhand, Marquez put on weight but did not put on muscle. Thus it slowed him down. (Although he caught Mayweather several times as well).

No shakeeb. Khan will NOT prepare Manny for Mayweather. He does not have enough experience. And while he seems to have sound fundamentals, he does not have Mayweather’s boxing IQ. Mayweather does not fight two different fighters, the same way. Some fighters come forward all the time, some fighters box more, some fighters try to muscle you, some try to beat you with speed, etc. He has faced all these styles, and has adjusted to each and every one of them. You can’t really teach that, it’s innate. But, Pacman has a puncher’s chance of beating PBF.

Yet Manny refused to give blood inside of 24 days if his opponent was Floyd Mayweather Jr. So, Manny will be weakened if he gives blood that soon before a fight with Mayweather, but its not a problem when his opponent is Clottey?!? What?!? The fight we all want to see. I believe it will happen this fall. Mayweather was cool with 14 days testing. Well that eliminates the purpose of random testing. Pacquiao filed a defamation lawsuit. What ever happened to that? I think they were just creating hype and controversy to increase public interest and push the fight back to the fall for more money. As for who’s going to win, I have Mayweather as a slight favorite to win by decision. Pacquiao is a very aggressive fighter but he leaves himself open. It’s no secret that he gets hit a lot. Mayweather is the master at avoiding punches and accurately countering. Pacquiao has never faced anyone on Mayweather’s skill level. However, Mayweather has never faced anyone like Pacquiao. He’s fearless, accurate, in and out, throws punches in bunches. Speed, stamina, and a good chin is something both of them possess. I can’t wait to see them fight. I have Mayweather as the slight favorite but if there is any boxer out there with a puncher’s chance to give him a loss it’s Pacquiao.

Mayweather is neither a coward (would a coward take a match with Mosley?)nor a cherry picker, any moreso than other long time champs. He is a terrific athlete with an exquisite set of boxing skills who chooses his opponents wisely. However, I do think he unintentionally botched the match with Pacquiao by making a big deal of the blood tests. I think he was simply trying to gain a psychological edge by bullying Pacquiao into a pre-fight concession. My guess is that he was surprised when Pacquiao did not accede to his blood testing demands.
However, it may be true that Pacquiao is ‘juicing’ and Mayweather really is trying to get him busted. If Pacquiao is using PED’s, he deserves a lifetime ban from boxing and must relinquish all his belts and his titles should be removed from the record books.
If MP is not using PED’s and he refused PBF’s additional testing demands out of pride, then we might have missed the fight of a lifetime for no good reason.

I think Manny also has the power advantage in the matchup so in the end we might be treated to a pretty good fight. Will Manny be able to chase down PBF? Manny can counter 2-3 combos but Floyd cannot counter 8-9-10 combos. In the end power-offense will dominate power-defense, my 2 cents.
Before Pac went up the weights, he was fighting the best technicians in boxing. His wars with the Mexican legends are classics. Mayweather is just bigger and he had been fighting stiffs. Pac will dislocate Flo’s shoulder if ever they will fight. No wonder Flo will do everything for his advantage before he fights Pac.

Caveat: Judging from what I saw in Floydie boy’s fight with Jose Luis Castillo…it looked more like Castillo beat Mayweather, except that the judges were either daydreaming or cross-eyed. Just where in the world do the judges award the fight to the fighter who lands fewer punches and fewer power punches (as proven by Punchstat)?! Castillo beat Mayweather, but was robbed! BTW, Castillo helped prep PacMan for the Cotto fight, and the former champ said that Manny’s punches do have a sting.
Granted, Floydie is more skillful and faster than the PacMan. However, it’s not in the realm of probability that he’d be able to duck all of the PacMan’s punches. And…he could get hit by the same left hook that put Hatton to sleep!

The Pacquiao-Clottey bout has to be off or at least postponed. Pacquiao is on video giving blood for his physical with less than 20 days before the scheduled bout with Clottey. Surely, since the reason he isn’t fighting Mayweather is because he won’t give blood any closer than 24 days before a fight, than Manny will postpone or cancel this fight. I train my nephew he won the Jr Olympic Natiional title because he was a flywieght he had a difficult time with sparring partners so I have to work with him. I use only speed because of my wieght but the funny thing is I’m faster than him and faster than most people he has fought. He’s no joke either. 2007 Ringside Champion,2009 Jr Olympic national Champ.2006, 2008, Desert Show down champ. Hector Luna is his name he’s on youtube. The only problem is he hurt his shoulder at the 2009 Jr Golden gloves and is awaiting surgery. So any Flywieght at the Under 19 or Louie Byrd is lucky he’s injured and out. In 2008 at 15 he was beating the crap oout of Franklin the the 2008 Olympic Alternate. They want nothing to do with him when it comes to sparring so he has to spar lightwieghts.

I my view the prime Jose Luis Castillo was one of the most underrated fighters of all time at lightweight. He was strong, learned from Chavez and defended his title 7 times before taking on Floyd. He has victories over Casamayor, Corrales, Freitas. Castillo is a HOF in my view. He he have problems at the 135 lbs to a young Floyd, who expected. Only fighter ever to give Floyd problem. Castillo was technically sound, short punches, hand ups, lethal counter straight right and left hook. The Castillo who fought Floyd was a great lightweight.

Everybody blood isnt the real issue to why he didnt want to fight Floyd. The issue is plan and simple, he just wasnt not ready to lose yet. Yes, you are probably fast for people your age and maybe people your size. I am certain once you started to gain weight your body reacted by becoming tired and sluggish. YOu don’t get quicker or faster overtime, you get crafter and technically sound with time. You don’t become faster than eveyone with time you out smart them. That is something Pacman doesn’t do, he just comes at you and don’t get tired.. some of the all time greats when they had their sluggfest, the were winded and drained. Just read up on fasttwitch muscles and the human anatomy and you will understand what i am saying. Its since. Why do football players get tired in football games when they don’t play the entire game. Why do basketball players get tired when they are on the court. Thats human nature. These guys are athletes but they get tired. I think a fight between PAC and Floyd would playout like Roy Jones vs. Calzaghe or Hopkins vs Calzaghe. Pacmans work rate would be to much for Floyd. The more punches Floyd throws will only open him up to more punishment. I can also see a cut or two opening up on Floyd by the 4th round or sooner which would make matters worse. Shocking article – Pacquiao has lost before so I don’t think he would be that bothered. He is fighting Floyd Mayweather after all. The problem we have is that Mayweather has made it impossible for this fight to take place and seems happy to be regarded as the 2nd best fighter of his generation. Pacquiao wins by default.

Why ask for random drug testing with manny? Because when in history have you seen a fighter that goes up in weight and doesn’t get tired because of the extra weight. I boxed from age 10-14.. I also ran track from age 10-22. I ran track in highschool and college. I use to run 6 miles in 32 minutes but i was only 125lbs when i ran that time. The more weight i put on the slower i got and i also got tired quicker bc my body was not use to carrying that weight around. I ran the mile in 4:32 in highschool and college i ran a 4:55 and was winded easier then i was in highschool. I put on 20 lbs of muscle my first year in college and i felt every pound i gain. It slowed my down. My body wasn’t use to carring that weight around.

If you want to talk about character, and wrong and right, you have to admit that it was wrong for Cotto to have to defend his title at a catch weight, but he still decided to fight because of the money even though it was a slight disadvantage for him; same goes with Marquez.

According to James Toney in his interview by Ace Freeman,Floyd is like a rabbit that is cornered and faints,Toney believe that Pacquiao will knock out Floyd and he is putting his money on Pacquiao,He said that if you claim to be the best,just fight no excuses,saying that Floyd will dominate Pacquiao is absurd.

Its like the same arguments get recycled or something. I don’t know about everybody else, but the only fight I doubted Pacquiao would win since moving up to welter weight was agianst Dela Hoya; every other fight I figured he would win.
Mayweather is just a totally different style fighter than the guys Pacquiao has faced recently, and its tough to try to compare. The only good counter puncher we can remember Pacquiao facing was Marquez, and you can decide what you thought about those fights, but Floyd is a much greater counter puncher than Marquez so I guess we’ll see what happens if they ever fight.
Beside, if you agree on something the least you can do is to adhere to it, am I correct. That’s what you call character. Would you respect someone who has agreed on a particular term but came in anyway overweight, regardless of the penalty.

Yes, I get your point but you do not allow your opponent to go beyond what is the agreed weight, whether its catchweight or the max. division weight. This will give your opponent an undue advantage in size and power.

You put 4 pounds in exclamation but Pacquaio comes in every fight aside from Hatton lighter than his opponents by 4lbs easy. Remember the weigh-in is the day before the actual fight. Clottey will be around 160 the night he faces Pacquaio. My thing is if the lil guy wants to face the bigger guy why should the big guy come down in weight to fight him. Manny’s the “WELTERWEIGHT” champ how about he start fighting at 147 instead of making people dehydrate themselves. People often wonder why fighters go up in weight as they get older, as the bones get denser making the weight you normally fought it because more difficult so you have no choice but to move up.

I will answer for Irish boy. If you watched the official weigh-in for the Mayweather-Marquez fight, Floyd was 2pounds above the catchweigh limit of 144lbs. While Marquez was came in at 142lbs. Mayweather was 4pounds heavier than Marquez! Since he was 2pounds over the limit he paid the fine. He was not man enough to adhere to his contractual obligations. Yeah, he paid the measly fine but still it placed Marquez at a disadvantage.
Also, Pacquiao was willing to fight Mayweather at full 147lbs. You can argue that Mayweather will not go beyond 147. Well, you never know. He may opt to go heavier. He may not be eligible to win the WBO belt if he does so but it will definitely give him an advantage in size over Pacquiao, making sure his precious zero is safe.

Why did Pacquaio ask for a 10 MILLION dollar fee for EVERY pound over the weight limit and before you give the generic response that Mayweather “cheated” in his last fight against Marquez by weighing two pounds over the limit. Mayweather trains year round and is always in shape, looking at him that night did he look like he had an extra 2 lbs to shed. Also that weight thing won’t be a problem if the welterweight champ Manny Pacquaio actually fights at the welterweight limit at 147. So people temporarily freeze and if he sees the ref about to step in and you’re not throwing he’ll back up hit you two times while you’re standing there expecting the ref to stop the clinch. There’s many reasons why people say he’s the best and smartest fighter around, he uses many old school tactics that these young fighters know of but can’t use effectively. If Pacman fought Mayweather, Pacman would win because his likley to have Khan as his sparring partner. Khan is alot faster and more technical than mayweather, so this would only benefit Pacman.

As for him ducking and using his elbows there’s that certain grey area in boxing that people use to their advantage. The ducking move is nothing new it’s a way to clinch but more importantly it’s to drive ur shoulder into a guys stomach to weaken him. Floyd’s not the only person to use it, but he’s the best at doing it, his timing with it is incredible, others don’t try it because you leave yourself wide open. But most people on these forums are casual boxing fans but die-hard Pacquaio fans and don’t know ish. Another trick fighters use one mastered by Emmanuel Steward fighters is if you’re taller to clinch and bend you’re opponent over. This adds up to slowing a guys upper body movement. Don’t believe me go back and look and Lewis vs. Tyson. Every time Lewis clinched he bent Tyson towards him after about 5 round Tyson wasn’t even moving side to side anymore
Aside from the writings bias towards Mayweather, actually can’t fault him this website is quite entertaining in that 30% of what they report is actual news while the rest is their personal opinions. That aside I think a lot of people who dislike Mayweather dislike what he’s done to boxing. When I say that I mean how he talks trash leading up to the fight and then carefully masters his opponent once he’s in there with them. Now had he fought these same opponents and went to war and came out bloody people would endear him even more as a great fighter. That’s the thing he used to fight like that at lower weights but once moving up to welterweight he realized he doesn’t have to. He can easily beat these guys without even getting a scratch on him.

Floyd will set up a punch by opning his face with hands down and then when the opponent strikes he will counter with his left and throwing his whole body to the opponent and elbows the neck.

Believe me after the scheduled fights a lot of questions will have to be answered. If there is one person with less credibility than Michael Marley, its this scoop character. There have been numerous sites, articles, and forums that state how big a snake this guy is. All before this latest lie. There are also many people close to Manny that have stated they knew Manny would never fight Floyd on March 13. People close to Manny have stated he would need more time to heal from his previous fight and then train for an opponent like Mayweather, that they knew this before the Cotto fight. It does seem odd to me that Manny would schedule a fight against a top guy so soon but apparently thats why Manny picked clottey.
I agree, Floyd would dominate Pacquiao just like he’s going to dominate Sugar Shane Mosley. Pacquiao has glaring flaws (esp defence) which would be exploited by Floyd. I’m sick and tired of people saying Floyd scuppered the bout whereas it was Pacman who did. If PBF weathers the storm of SSM–who’s bigger and stronger than Pac and still pretty fast, in his own right–he should be more than prepared to face Pacman. Clottey, on the other hand, does not provide Pacman with suitable preparation, to face PBF. A fight against someone, like Timothy Bradley, might’ve served him better, in this regard. Not that Clottey’s a “tomato can”. He’s just a different type of fighter. Clottey has a, relatively, stationary defense, while PBF moves around, slips punches, sets traps, boxes going backwards. He will pick up on any flaws, which Pacman reveals, in the ring, and capitalize, while he, on the other hand, makes very few mistakes. He will also have a height and reach advantage, and maybe a speed advantage. I only give Manny a puncher’s chance to win this fight, should there ever be a fight…
Nice article! However, I disagree with your analysis that Floyd would cruise on to an easy win against Manny. You must understand that Floyd is not much of a striker. He picks his shots & does it very well with speed & perfect timing with great footwork. Then runs for him to not get hit by his opponent’s counter.
I also agree that Manny will get hit with Floyd’s very few punches but rest assured that Manny will hit him back! Manny would stalk him in the ring just like what he did to Cotto from d’ 5th round ’til d’ last and hit him with his 5-7 punch combo! Floyd may be able to dodge d’ first 2 or 3 but d’ next 2-3 punches will definitely land on it’s mark (Floyd’s face)!
Best example to this is d’ Mayweather-Judah fight. He had problems with a southpaw like Judah. D’ thing with Zab is he ran out of gas in his tank. This won’t happen to Manny on their fight because Manny doesn’t get tired! Do u remember what Floyd SR said in an interview after watching Pac destroy Cotto? He doesn’t want his son to fyt Pac anymore. He saw what Pac would do to Floyd JR if he stay on the ropes & do his “Shoulder Roll” thing! I gez they realized that it doesn’t work on southpaws. Especially with Pacquiao who hits you from angles unheard of!
Lastly, if they would fight, the sparring partner to prepare Floyd against Pacquiao isn’t born yet. He would have to do with his buddy Zab to help him out. But u know that wont help either.

Who’s on PED again? Pacquiao? Is there any proof on that? ABSOLUTELY NONE! Except for drug dealer Mayweather Sr’s word, which amounts to nothing. I do believe Mayweather Jr. is the more technically sound fighter in terms of defense. On the other hand Pacquiao throws so much volume of punches at lightning speed and unusual angales that Floyd’s defenses will truly be tested. But, we will never know. Mayweather’s demands will kill any future posibility for a mega fight.

i think it could go either way but pacquiao’s aggressive style works well for mayweather’s defensive style..i still think pac could get him just because he likes to fight and could overwhelm mayweather with those everything-but-the-kithen-sink barrages
