No steroid testing for Pacquiao-Clottey fight? – News

By Sean McDaniel: According to Wallace Matthews of the Boston Herald, there won’t be any steroid testing for World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao or Joshua Clottey for their March 13th bout at the Dallas Cowboy stadium, in Arlington, Texas. Matthews says that a spokeswomen reported to him that “Texas does not test boxers for steroids unless there is a probably cause.” Clottey, 32, isn’t pushing the issue with Pacquiao unlike Floyd Mayweather Jr, who insisted on random blood testing to be conducted before he would fight Pacquiao.
It’s unclear if a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao can be made in the future because Mayweather will likely not be as accommodating about testing for performance enhancing drugs. If Pacquiao wants to leave it up to the Nevada Athletic Commission to decide what testing methods should be used, it’s unlikely that they will rule in Mayweather’s favor by directing that random blood tests be used to check for drugs such as human growth hormone.
In that case, there probably won’t be a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao in the future. It might not matter financially, because Pacquiao will do well no matter who he fights. As we see with his bout against Clottey, the bout could end up selling 45,000 tickets for the Dallas Cowboy Stadium and will probably really well in pay-per-view as well. The only problem is that Pacquiao would miss out on a fight that would shape his legacy by not facing Mayweather, and obviously Pacquiao would like to finish his career with a win over Floyd.
There’s talk of Pacquiao possibly retiring after the Clottey bout if he can’t get a fight with Mayweather. Pacquiao has political aspirations and if he wins office, this could be it for him. Mayweather, with Pacquiao out of the picture in the sport, would then take over and regain his status as the number #1 fighter in all of boxing and would likely dominate the welterweight division without too many problems.
Beyond Shane Mosley and Pacquiao, there’s really no one in or around the welterweight division that can give Mayweather any kind of trouble.

Hey Dummy’s what the writer is trying to do is stirr up the simpleton Mayweather fans. There will be no Mayweather Amatuer type testing but the traditional testing boxing has today. So Manny will not bend for Mayweather, do you peanut brains understand?

I think you guys are forgetting the fact that PAC agreed to be tested right after the fight (that same night at the dressing room. Yes i was disappointed too that the fight did not happen because he refused the to be bullied by Floyd but it does not mean that he is juicing. He has been tested in the past and always been negative. These allegations are groundless. NO FACT JUST FICTION. And I am a real boxing fan. i love anybody who steps inside the ring. They got balls.

I would really like to believe Pac is a brave ang gutsy fighter, but all his words, action and reaction towards this unfortunate fight with PBF, Pac really reeks of cowardice. Floyd is willing to undergo the same random test, so what is the big deal?

Pacquaio lets face it, is the biggest modern day drugged up to the eyeballs cheat walking the face of this planet. He is on a substance called ‘A side meth’ and anybody that pretends to not know this his got their head burried up their ass they. I think if Mayweather did take the fight however Mayweather would knock the pac mans teeth so far down his throat he’s gunna need to shove a tooth brush up his ass to clean them.

Because every fighter has to take a diease test but that blood isn’t being used to detect PEDs. The PEDs test is totally different bc they are using certain chemicals to detect PEDs and not dieases. But if you could provide something that showes that they did i would consider it true.
Theres just the usual testing here, the one that most boxers, promotors and trainers are happy with.
There wont be anything like what Mayweather was demanding because it isnt really neccessary and Clottey aint a dirty fraud bumhole like Floyd.

Ok, I am going to throw a few names at you and you tell me if these names are better than who you named: Judah, Baldimoir, Gatti, Oscar and Ricky Hatton (undefeated)
With the exception of Mosley non of the guys u mentioned were established. They were all up and coming and they didn’t have the fan base to make a money fight. Cotto eventually got to that point because they hyped him up but it was after Floyd had retired.
Cotto started fight fighter with names right around the time Mayweather retired.
Clottey was a journeymen and no one really knew who he was. The two fights he lost prior to losing to Cotto was Baldimoir someone Floyd had already beaten and Marguarito who didn’t fight anybody worth talking about until 2008 (once again when Floyd was retired). Clottey as fought and beat an Over he hill Diego Corrals someone Floyd had destroyed early.
Marguarito like i stated didn’t start fight known fighters until 2008.
So, i say again these fighter who you called up and coming came after Floyd was retired and they didn’t want any parts of Floyd before he retired and if they did, they didn’t make it noticable enough and call him out.
Shane flat out dodged him for years and there is video to prove it..

Paul williams is not a true welterweight. He is a light middleweight Thats 154 and welterweight is 147.
To those who say that Texas is right up Manny`s ally, and of course he wants to fight in Texas:
Just remember the reason that Floyd will not and can not fight in Texas is that Zylocaine is illegal in Texas. Without Xylocaine floyd couldn`t fight a feathereight.

The boxing commission is the appropriate authority to impose drug testing requirements. If the opposing boxers comply with these requirements then neither boxer has any right to require additional tests, otherwise it makes the commission look inutile and powerless. In the case of Mayweather, he thinks that he is larger and better than the boxing commission and what he wants must be followed by all parties. Pacquiao was right in not giving in to Mayweather’s demand for random blood testing over and above what the NSAC requires.
Pac either:
1. uses PEDs.
2. ducked Floyd.
There simply isn’t any other reason for all the BS talk and excuses for why he can’t take a drug test.
Take your pick – he’s either dirty or he’s a coward.
Still not too bright I see… The man asked for RANDOM BLOOD tests…. That urine test means nothing… Who has been caught by urine testing before? Yes, floyd is the saviour of modern boxing. It’s good for modern boxing if pacman retires after March 13 becoz floyd will retake his no 1 pound 4 pound ranking. floyd will impose everything he wants being the cash cow in boxing just to make it clean, entertaining and civilize perse in todays modern world. He wants us to leave behind the stone age style of boxing which is full of savagery and embrace the scientific, safety first, and to hit and not to be hit style of boxing. @x-man — They were asked by the commission to do an “out-of-competition” URINE test. Both fighters tested positive for that…whoop de doo.. =/ Where does it say the BLOOD was submitted? And you don’t make ALLEGATIONS in a contract, you make REQUESTS. He REQUESTED that he and Manny, partake in mutually applied OSDT. I am aware of what has been said by Floyd’s dad, uncle, and other figures in the sport, outside of the negotiations. But, nothing Floyd himself has said, will hold up in court, as an ALLEGATION.
yeah, guess it does make all the sense in the world that he would be fighting in TEXAS. No drug testing? damn thats right up PAC’s alley. It would have been a great fight if MAnny and Floyd fought. Personally I would give it to Floyd, he’s the kind of fighter MAnny has troubles with like MArquez, but Floyd is younger faster, stronger, and has better ring IQ pretty much a faster, and stronegr version of MArquez. and if he really is not Juicing then why is he so hesitant to take a test that could get him a fight that would define his career. I mean a win over Floyd would be epic, but the fact is PAC walked away from the fight his demands were met, but when Floyd made one demand PAC wussed out of the biggest fight of this generation. So before people keep blaming MONEY for the fight falling through, remember PAC walked away from the fight cause he was either scared of getting caught or scared of losing, either way PAC looks pretty fishy.
None of this crap talk with people defending Floyd chickenwing will matter after May 1st. Watch and see.

I seriously doubt it was random but is a step in the right direction. But if you understood PEDs 20 days is still a lot of time to use EPO. I don’t really care how they do it but the sport needs to be cleaned up. Fighters shouldn’t get praised for passing a drug test. I just hope Clottey doesn’t jump on the juice. Clottey tires in the late rounds. He could get on the juice right now.

Pacquiao doesn’t need the money. Of course you’d take the blood test cause you don’t have the money. Will you do it for $20 then fight Mayweather? I don’t think so. If I was Pacquiao, this guy Mayweather was the top boxer 3 years ago. But I don’t need to fight him. He beat a fat and old lightweight in the last 3 years to become top 2 P4P. He gets a shot at me and the p4p title and makes this demands. He retired when Clottey, Cotto, Margarito, and Mosley was fighting each other. Now, he comes back after they fought each other. Can you imagine Mayweather fighting 2 or 3 of those fighters? I don’t think so. Look at Cotto’s resume at welter, he lost to Margarito and Pacquiao and beat Mosley and Clottey. That’s what you call fighting the best without cherry picking.
Lil Giant@manny just took a blood steroid test last month ,the boxing association just made them both take a surprise blood test when floyd made these allegation in negotiation contract .with both of these guys fighting each other,and both floyd and manny past the test clean.

The only people in the world who don’t want random blood testing to determine if athletes are using PEDS are Manny fans. Manny fans do you think this is a problem. I mean come on. Have you ever thought what if Clottey were to be using steriods, HGH and EPO for this upcoming fight against Manny. Clottey would have an unfair advanatage. I hate that it’s Pacman that has to deal with all the PED’s talk but I do want him and everybody else to be tested too! I’m Mayweather all day but I am not a Pac hater. If its ok for people to assume Margarito cheated before Shane then it’s only right for people to think its fishy that Pac refused the testing! Both are assumption yet to be proved.
I know people are going to say Marg cheated so its ok to say he’s been a cheat from day one but it’s not. I bet all of Marg’s next opponents will pay waaaaay more attention to those wraps now(if he gets reinstated).

Actually Paul Williams and Kermit Cintron are negotiating for a fight at 147. We all know Manny will never fight the winner of that fight, but it seems like Mayweather will if he gets past Mosley and Pacquiao is still scared of tests for PEDs.
Pacquiao is willing to give 30 ml of blood 20 days before a fight as long as it isn’t tested for PEDs. But he won’t give one tablespoon if they test if for PEDs. Manny insists he will miss 3 days of training if they take ONE TENTH of the amount he just gave and didn’t miss any training, if they test it for PEDs. I don’t care how big a Pacfan anyone is, this just doesn’t make any sense if you’re clean. Yea, you can take as much as blood as you want and it won’t affect me on fight night or during training, but if you take any blood to test for PEDs then I can’t train for 3 days and will be too weak to fight. What’s the difference??? The only difference is that they test for PEDs and take a lot less blood to do so.

They have to do this fight. I don’t care by what means, but it would be so disappointing if it doesn’t push through. I’m sure there would be some form of recourse in the fall, let’s hope anyways.
At a time when all the other professional sports organization is trying to tighten their drug testing protocol Boxing isn’t. For a person who loves the sport of boxing this is a huge black eye for the sport. Due to the brutality of the sport boxing should be leading this fight to secure a level playing field in its athletes. I love boxing but when I watch the Clottey and Pac fight I will still be wondering if Pac or Clottey are clean fighters. Then on May 1 I will know for sure that both fighters are clean.
