Mosley: “I don’t know if he’s [Mayweather] a coward or not”

By Chris Williams: World Boxing Association welterweight champion Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO’s) gave his thoughts about his May 1st opponent Floyd Mayweather Jr. in an article at ABS-CBN News, saying “I don’t know if he’s a coward or not but what I know for this fight, he was forced to fight me. Aside from Manny [Pacquiao], this is the only big money for him [Mayweather] out there. If he’s afraid to fight Manny, “I’m not.” For Mosley to fight Pacquiao, he’s going to have to find a way to beat Mayweather on May 1st at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 38-year-old Mosley isn’t expected to beat Mayweather, despite his brave talk. Mayweather looks to be the better fighter at this point. Mosley hasn’t fought in over a year as he’s wasted time hoping that a big money fight would open up for him. Mosley had settled for a unification bout against WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto, but that fight fell through recently when Berto pulled out due to the loss of some of his extended family in the Haiti earthquake.

Mosley says “Beating him [Floyd Mayweather] will put me to where I want to be placed in my career. That’s why, I’ll beat Floyd, then hopefully Manny will fight me.” If Mosley beats Mayweather, there’s little question that Pacquiao will fight Mosley.

The only question will be whether Mosley will ask for random blood testing like Mayweather did from Pacquiao. If that’s the case, Mosley might have to kiss goodbye any hopes of fighting Pacquiao unless he’s willing to accept a cut off period of 30 days or so for the fight. I doubt Pacquiao and his team will want to agree to blood testing within 30 days, if at all for a fight against Mosley.

Mayweather is going to win this fight hands down, he has too..
Sugar Shane is 38 for crying out loud.. hahahaha What kind of stamina is he going to have chasing around Floyd?? Floyd is going to run circles around this old man.. Its going to be a good fight up until the 6th-7th round.. After the Old Man run out of gas, Floyd going to put him through the clinic..

Floyd Mayweather “Senior Citizen Killer”.. hahahhaa

  • mike says:

    mayweather has no losses…

  • heavy G says:

Its ridiculous. Mayweather is certainly NOT a coward. He has superior skills and does not need to lead with his face, a la Hatton. For that he is a coward?

  • mukhang ita says:

The main reason why Floyd Mayweather’s camp always do a foul mouthed propaganda is for the people to recognize them…. Everyone would agree that if Mayweather’s camp don’t do this kind of trash talk to media he would be “FLOYD WHO?”

  • inferno says:

agree with you mosley on that! too bad you’re fighting pretty boy not on your prime. had this fight happened two or three years ago i would have bet on you. but that doesnt stop me from expecting a miracle.

  • kingalex says:

Coward or not, PBF will win and outbox Mosley. This is something like DLH-PBF again, and easier because Mosley doesn’t jab that much to bother PBF. When Floyd wins it was because Mosley was old, so it doesn’t matter what kind of decision PBF gets, he will not get any credit. Mosley ducked him twice, so he will be guilty of his performance against Floyd(he will not be able to compete that night against PBF).

  • truthxpozer says:

lol flyod mayweather and pacqroids nut huggers make me laugh. most asians and flip fans of pac are overemotional dont know much about boxing but talk nonsence all day long. shame on u.. u make pac legacy look bad

mosley dont want it with best P4p mayweather

  • jeff says:

mosley, yes he a coward ,a coward with a big mouth.

  • Duke says:

james toney must be punch-drunk letting his ties with freddie roach and the wild card get in the way of his homestate roots. toney is just butthurt he can’t get a big bout and has to resort to talking smack and trying mma. oh how the mighty have fallen.

  • santiperes says:

Floyd Jr. is an embarassment to the black community of America. Black guys knows a coward when they see one over smokes and screens. James Toney said Floyd is like a rabbit cornered, it faints and that my friends is Floyd Jr.

  • GariJ07 says:

Shane Mosley will smack that arrogant smile off Mayweather’s face and make a fool of Mayweather.

  • mukhang ita says:

The only exciting thing out of Mayweather camp are their foul mouthed and below the belt antics…. Other than that he is a boring fighter and a coward…. He would go down against Sugar Shane Mosley ….

If Sugar Shane’s bout with Berto was not cancelled Mayweather would still be hiding under his drug dealing Dad… Or even thinking about fighting someone from the minimum weight……

Mayweather is like an old nagging lady who craves from something he will never get!

  • irish boy says:

Floyd Mayweather recently stated that Pacquiao is an ordinary fighter. 3 yrs. ago he stated that Pacquiao is an extraordinary fighter. Inconsistent.

  • MbfromPhilly says:

Floyd almost crapped his pants on the spot when Mosely approached him after the Marquez fight! “Shane Mosely is a great fighter and Im not trying to take that away from him” quote/unquote Mayweather! Nothing to the man’s face about his unworthiness as an opponent in competition, then once he’s safe at home he sings an entirely different song! And while he’s talking; we’re all waiting for him to put his “Money” where his mouth is and sign the contract! But luckily for us the pressure was too great and consequences too permanent for Mayweather to find a way out. He’s facing a skilled, aggressive, hard hitting and confident fighter on May 1st. Don’t forget that these two know each other personally and have even played a couple scrimmage games of Bball together, Im sure Mosely has sized this guy up and knows he can physically dominate Mayweather.

  • Haku313 says:

Man! This dude Shane Mosley is the biggest liar! This dude is all over Youtube turning down fights from Mayweather on two different accounts! Then, his own promoter is quoted saying he turned down the fight with floyd before Oscar and floyd signed. I cant wait for May 1. Floyd is gonna whoop this clown! He beats Margarito who was a bum and now he thinks hes unstoppable!? what a joke!

  • C-rock says:

Mosley Mosley…… He will lose the fight with Floyd. But it will not be a walk in the park

  • ozzy osborne says:

    @ Bob:

maybe mayweather is on roids too !! the difference is he aint afraid to back it up !!

  • MbfromPhilly says:

I give credit where I believe it’s due and Shane Mosely represents what real boxing fans expect from our celebrated warriors. Mosely didn’t have to fight tough fights when he was P4P; but he did! Against Forrest and Winky Wright(both of whom would’ve never gotten title shots if not for Mosely) and Mosely lost to both fighters. But rather than find excuses or campaign at a lighter weight; Mosely re-matched both guys! Imo Mayweather has been the biggest joke in boxing since his “comeback” and I will admit that he is probably the most naturally talented boxer on Earth today, but I also think he lacks true inner confidence in himself-which is why he handpicked opponents and took an early out once the Welterweight division became loaded with potential losses. Floyd still has plenty to prove to me; him showing up and truly fighting like he wants to win against Mosely would be a good start. All things being equal; may the strongest-most determined warrior win!

  • willymacmoore says:

Fool me 1ce shame on me! I will not be fooled again. I bought the Mayweather/Marquez fight and was disappointed. Mayweather had all the advantages and still didn’t k.o him. What kinda s#1T is that? Pacquiao vs Clottey will definitely get my $$$$$ because it’s guaranteed to be entertaining. I will watch both fights but only pay for one.

  • Bob says:

I think Mayweather is the steroid user he was a skinny scrawny guy before he fought Delahoya than he packed on Muscle and his Egg head grew from the size of a Chicken to a Dinasour egg

  • BNME says:

Can’t wait til Floyd puts this guy and his big mouth to rest. May 1st Mosley goes to sleep. Just lik his partner he always falls short in his big fights. Enjoy ur last pay day Mosley

  • Fighter says:

Mayweather AND Pacquiao are scared. Scared of eachother. Scared to take any real threat. Mosley ain’t.

  • Ukansodoff says:

Yeah you do know Shane, you know he is.

  • aussieboxfan says:

Why do these “writers” insist on continually writing about blood testing up to the fight as though it is a standard boxing procedure?
RBT up to the fight was simply one boxers unprecidented request, in one fight only. It has since grown a life of its own and is now way out of hand. Writers and fans should leave testing procedures and debates where it has always been… With the boxing comission…. Its an ugly, ugly buisness, that in my opinion only serves to degrade boxing within the wider community. PEOPLE… Let us set an example for those that see our beautiful sport as dirty, corrupt and distasteful. Boxing was once THE prestige sport. Our champions were the toast of the sporting world, not the laughing stock that they seem to have now become.
Change always starts at the begining or foundation, and that foundation just happens to be US, THE FANS! So lets all stop smearing into the mud, the names and reputations of all these wonderful champions that bring us so much entertainment. I do mean all, especially the fighers we may love to hate as they often give us greater entertainment than those we cheer for.

By all means fellow fans, commend or critisize any boxer you see fit. But do so based on their technique, character and attitude. Not on unfounded, slanderous and very nasty RUMORS!
Its distasteful, and only serves to prove the broader community right in their assumptions on our wonderful sport as a whole.
We are all responsible for the current state of boxing, and we can all make a difference! Its up to us, but are we up to it???

  • Batangastig says:

at poor noynoy and the thing about catchweight. Fact, Manny has only had one catchweight fight his whole career, which was Cotto. Fact Mayweather also fought Marquez at a catchweight. Initially Marquez wanted to fight at a catchweight, but Floyd was requesting Marquez to fight at 154. Remember Marquez had only fought at 135.

Floyd then faked a rib injury so that he’ll be able to go down in weight, which is why after he supposedly recovered, he all of a sudden agreed to the catchweight. While Cotto merely had 2 pounds difference from the weight he was use to, Marquez had an amazing 8 pound difference. Not only that, but Floyd didn’t even honor the catchweight and came in heavy.

  • vinz420 says:

@ Pete. Very true. This Pac-Floyd debate can go on forever but as it stands:

    - Mayweather HASN’T GOT ANY EVIDENCE of Pacman being on any type of PED, purely a wild unprofessional accusation
    - Pacquiao hasn’t proven that he is not on any PEDs

So, with both having not done any extra effort to get the fight to happen – well, time to listen to your fans! The internet alone has proven how both camp’s fans want this brilliant match to happen! This proposed fight will be a match to be marked in every boxing fans history!!!

PACQUIAO IS A CHEATER!!! ANYONE ELSE WANTS TO BE CHEATED???? WHAT ABOUT FLOYD CHICKEN? • asif says:

Shane mosley is excellent against fighters that go foreward but terrible against fighters that can use good range and box. Mayweather is the best boxer in the world. Shane mosely is great, but floyd is on another level altogether. Mosely is also 38 yrs old. At that age boxers retire. Trust me mosley is going to look bad.

  • JAYSMOOTH says:

    @Fight Fan

You said he retired when the best boxers in the division were fighting each other. Ricky Hatton( undefeated), Oscar(tough fighter), Zab Judah(34-3), C. Baldomir (unbeaten in 8 yrs), and Shamba Mitchell(56-4) on of the best fighters in the welterweight division when he fought him. So, who were the other best fighters at the time? I know who you are going to say. Shane- he called him out but shane had a tooth ache. Paul Williams- he had just lost to Quaintana. Cotto- he was still trying to make a name for himself. So, who were the fighters he should have fought?

  • JAYSMOOTH says:

    @boxing_ego

are you dumb or something? If you can recall, Floyd was retired for almost 2 years. So, he will not make the list for 2009 because he was doing his job during that year.

  • JAYSMOOTH says:

    @THINKABOUTIT

Manny Fought 55 fights and Floyd fought 40. Thats a 15 fight differences. your are exactly right and when its all said and done Floyd will have 15 years to enjoy his kids and live a comfortable lifestyle and not need someone to come and help take care of him because he has brain damage. BOB Arum is going to push him to the side if he loses this fight and doesn’t retire or continue the production he is doing now. That is why they are handling Valero like they are. He is going to take mannys place when he starts to loose. Bob don’t care about Manny one bit..All he wants is that money just like Money Mayweather. That is why Floyd left him and he is upset with Floyd.

  • JAYSMOOTH says:

    @Jet R

Why is Floyd asking for the blood test if its cycled out of ur body in 24-48 hours? This is the reason. Bc even though it cycle out of your urinary system it could possible still be traced in your blood. I dont know if you have been reading the Sport News lately. But, as of yesterday, the Anti-doping Agency had it first positive test revealed. It was a UK rugby player. How did they detect the HGH? NO, it wasnt by urine but from blood. Here is an insert from that article:
The 31-year-old was banned for two years and this week had his Wakefield contract cancelled after testing positive in an out-of-competition test in November 2009 — the first positive test for HGH in any sport from a blood sample.

The key words in this insert First Positive test for HGH in any SPort was from From a Blood test.

Having this be known, it should let you know why blood testing is important. To add on to that, MLB is implementing a blood test in there Minor leagues.

  • Pete says:

Look everyone – if you like Mayweather you do not have to hate Manny. If you love Pacquiao you don’t have to hate Mayweather. THEY BOTH GREAT BOXERS AND GREAT CHAMPIONS.

Lets just hope they sort themselves out and get this fight on.

  • cody says:

ryan, has you should know pacman has lost a couple of fights, both of these fights have be to smaller fighters and in his early days, he seems not to have so much trouble with the bigger blokes as you suggest, but more with the smaller guys,

  • Poor noynoys says:

That’s great Ryan, write an entire diatribe which I can summarize in one paragraph:

Manny Pacquiao is a cherry picker who only fights guys who’s styles are easy prey for his offense-first attack, and if any of these guys have dangerous knockout power, Manny Pacquiao also cherrypicks a catchweight so that his opponents come in weak and drained.

But in the land of Pacquiao supporters, where logic left a long time ago and nuthuggery is not just a disease but a lifestyle, that’s somehow justified as ‘protecting my fighter.’

The funny thing is that while both Pacquiao and Mayweather want to avoid becoming like Ali or other boxers who took one too many punches to the head, Floyd Mayweather actually uses his talents and skills to adjust to the dangers and challenges of the higher weights. From a ridiculously accurate offensive machine at the lower weights, to a defensive chess master at the higher weights, Floyd tailored his fight game to not only remain undefeated at the higher weights but to also avoid unnecessary punishment and ending up like his father.

Manny Pacquiao on the other hand does no such thing – the more dangerous fighters at the higher weights get crippled and handicapped into a lower catchweight, while the less dangerous opponents (Clottey who’s had only one knockout in his last 11 fights) get to fight at a full WW limit.

Both guys are HOF material, but Mayweather is BY FAR the greater candidate for ATG.

(And please stop cherrypicking the Cotto catchweight. If 2 pounds was so inconsequential, why did Pacquiao even ask for it? Just fight him at 147 and be done with it. But the truth is that the weight was a factor, or else Roach wouldn’t have started the demands all the way down at 142. And if you’ve read your history as you should have, you know WITHOUT DOUBT that Miguel Cotto struggled with the 140 limit. Forcing him to drop back down below 147 wasn’t some minor detail – the fight HINGED on that one issue – Miguel either came down in weight or Manny wouldn’t fight him.)

  • Ryan Dunn says:

    @ray-a-too

You’re right about Mosley and Pacquiao… NOW. I’m saying, I think Manny is just now gaining the confidence to believe he can fight and defeat these bigger guys. It started with ODLH, grew with Hatton, grew more with Cotto, and if he can beat Clottey, he’ll have fought and beat four bigger guys.

    @Roger Flo

I’m not defensive against Floyd, I’m just tired of dealing with people like you and LuvBoxing who use name calling to spark a discussion. Change my tampon… really? That’s what you thought up to write back? I’m not sure you can tell me to change a tampon and then have the credence to call ME pathetic.

Can’t we talk like adults? Even if some of us aren’t? Even if it’s just for pretend.

  • vince vegas says:

Shane has a shot. He’s good & he’ll come to win, not just collect a check. Shane’s a few years past it but Floyd’s last couple fights have not shown me a lot.

He beat Hatton, undefeated @ 140 but showed early on when he moved up to WW he was out of his league.

Marquez? Sorry, I can’t offer Floyd a standing ovation on that one. Marquez is a brilliant fighter but too small to fight a true WW, especially one who held the P4P claim to fame, any other outcome would be unthinkable.

If Floyd dominates Shane in convincing fashion he should recieve credit where it’s due & not a bunch of back talk for taking on an older guy.

I for one will stand & take notice, Pac should probably do the same.

  • x-man says:

I allso belive arum saying manny will take blood test anytime even the day earier of the fightthat only if the boxing association ask them to do,it the part about floyd going over the association thinking he boss that the problem.

  • mr.sweetsci says:

@mayweather die hard fan…..do you know the difference between blood testing and urine testing? i guess not. let’s assume they are equal. manny pacquiao agreed to unlimited/random urine testing. meaning whoever do the test, they can administer it everyday eve 3x a day if they want to. that way, there’s no way he would be able to do PEDs. am I right? so please quit bashing about manny refusing the drug testing. i don’t know if floyd used that blood testing not to fight manny. go figure.

  • x-man says:

chale man@ who had the ww belt at the time? cotto ,and pac collect belts.I like mosley too but he ask after cotto fight was ready to be sign.they will fight next pac has ask for it.read back a bit.

  • x-man says:

love it, floyd trys to change history saying healways fight the best he run from no one .and mosley allway keep saying floyd was forced to take this fight. this is destroying floyd pride, ha,
yes floyd the pressure on ,you also better do 50% better ppv with hbo than pac and cottley or your words are total grass.

  • chale man says:

cotto beat mosley before the margarito fight, oh and he still had his uncle as his trainer, if the whole trainer and margarito thing didnt happen and PAC didnt request a catchweight i’m thinking it would have been a more interesting and closer fight. That night was cotto heading to the sloughter house. PAC and ROACH knew he was right for the picking, and yes PAC did duck mosley, just like everyone is saying floyd ducked him, but the thing with PAC ducking mosley was that mosely was wiiling to fight PAC at 143 or 142, pretty much giving PAC all the advantages, but PAC decided to DUCK him, to me that looks more cowardly. what has PAC done that mayweather cant? I personally think floyd would beat PAC.

  • x-man says:

all I want to know is why did floyd retire for two full years? when he only takes a fight a year, that a vacation itself, this own advisor al hammon said that he would not let floyd fight magarito ,cotto maybe later in the year.and what you know al hammon came up with the blood test, arnt magarito and mandy similar non stop tireless fighter?

  • ray-a-too says:

Ryan Dunn@ pac and mosley will fight if mosley wins. pac has aready ask for the fight in febuary 5 their was

so its look like a unification fight will happen, dont worry as pac fight twice a year, mosley and pac are likely to happen as mosley should win.

  • Ryan Dunn says:

    And that was @Poornoynoys

    …ryan

  • Ryan Dunn says:

“Pacquiao had the chance to fight BOTH Mosley and Mayweather and the little cherry picker ran away from both fights with his little cherry picking basket tucked between his legs.”

    - If you haven’t noticed, Pacquiao has been in the process of coming up in weight recently. Two years ago, he was fighting Marquez at 129. The top welterweights were out of Manny’s league as far as Roach was concerned, and he has said in the ring that he doesn’t want to fight over 145 again if he can help it.

“Hell, Shane even offered to take the lesser of a 60/40 split AND come down to 145.”

    - Just because a fighter is hungry and wants to fight you does not mean you are obligated to fight him, and it also doesn’t mean you are ducking him by not fighting him. Mosley has been looking for a payday like Chris Rock in New Jack City for some time now. He’s getting his shot, but you don’t know how promotions work if you think you just call someone out and then fight. It doesn’t work like that.

“Freddie Roach “I have to protect my fighter” and demanded Shane come down to 142.”

    - See my previous point. But why would you criticize Roach for observing that Shane is a bigger fighter with a lot of speed and power? Why put your fighter in the ring with someone who is too big and strong? At the time Roach didn’t even know Manny’s ceiling. He attributed Manny’s fight night weight gain to overeating. But the truth was Manny was just dehydrating his normal body weight too much to make 130 and coming up in weight was a more natural process than Freddie had expected.

    “Cotto at 145?”

    - Listen, bud. When a fight is negotiated, both fighters agree on a weight. Manny has a limit to how much of a disadvantage he will put himself at before a fight becomes a mismatch. You wouldn’t expect Cotto to fight Roy Jones in his prime would you? That’s why there’s weight classes, man. Cotto didn’t have to take the fight at 145. But when his last four fights were at 147, do you REALLY think coming down two pounds was going to render him useless? Come on now.

“And the fight with Mayweather? Superstitious? Afraid of needles? A 24 day cutoff?”

    - I have an article about to go on this site which will enlighten you and the rest of the Mayweather supporters on the TRUTH behind blood vs. urine. I think the results will surprise you all.

“But if he fights a nobody like Joshua Clottey, all of a sudden it’s okay to fight at 147.”

    - Again, styles make fights. It is up to Manny and Freddie and Arum and the rest of Manny’s camp who they will fight, not you or anyone else. They know their fighter better than you do. Manny gets to say what he is willing to do. If he wanted to go up to fight Foreman because Yuri doesn’t have power in his hands, that’s his choice, not yours. Stop ridiculing a fighter for choosing who he wants to fight.

“And he’s okay giving blood at 20 days before the fight?”

    - Again, my article will reveal to you that a three-test regime for blood testing is more than adequate given the current state of anti-doping testing measures, and this entire argument is totally MOOT.

“Why the demands for catchweights for guys like Mosley and Cotto? Why the blatant red herring about ‘feeling weak’ with blood drawing, and asking for a 30 day cutoff, yet now he’s giving blood at 20 days?”

    - When you’re not too busy calling people Pactards, you should realize that Mosley and Cotto pose MUCH more immediate threats to a smaller fighter than someone like Floyd or Clottey. When your opponent has known power to knock their opponents out viciously, a smaller fighter coming up in weight has to know their limits and be smart. Otherwise they run the risk of ending up like Roger or Floyd Sr., or Ali or Leon Spinks.

Would you want to have mush for brains just for a payday? All the money in the world doesn’t pay for your children having to explain to their first grade friends why their daddy slurs when he talks.

“You Pactards can’t even tell the difference between your mouth and your ass.”

    - I’ll leave my responses with that final quote from you, and you can count yourself lucky that someone on here took the time to give you an educated response. Hopefully you find a way to step up your game and come back with some educated, and more mature commentary on this site. And when you do, let your friends on here know they are welcome to do the same, and then we can all have educated debates on the sport of boxing. Instead of namecalling and negative energy uselessly thrown about.

  • Elijah says:

    @ Poornoynoys
VERY WELL SAID!!! i will bet you will not get an answer to those questions because of lack of Common Sense and logic.

  • Simon says:

Quoted below is James Toney has to say about his body Floyd:

FOUR-DIVISION world champion James “Lights Out” Toney thinks Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao will beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. decisively should the top two finally come to a showdown between the world’s top fighters.

“I’d put my money on Manny Pacquiao to knock Floyd Mayweather out,” Toney told Ace Freeman of FightFan.com, a video of which was posted Sunday (Monday in Manila) in the popular boxing website.

“I grew up with Floyd Mayweather; we all came from the same block in [Grand Rapids] Michigan. Me, the Mayweather family, Buster Mathis, Tony Tucker—the ‘Hall of Fame’ block,” said Toney, whose illustrious ring career was somewhat diminished by steroids charges as a heavyweight.

“I love Floyd and I’m glad he’s doing what he’s doing. But if you claim to be the best fighter in the world in the world pound-for-pound—fight! Don’t make excuses.”
“Pacquiao’s going to knock Floyd out, and Floyd knows it. Floyd’s my man and I love him but I’m going to call it like I see it,” Toney said.

“The thing is this: Do you know what a rabbit does when it gets backed into a corner? It faints. And that’s what Floyd’s doing.”

Well said from a good friend. Nothing bias just a simple and outright truth.

  • Elijah says:

So now when Freddy Roach says something we should not take him literally? R u serious. MAYBE HE WAS BEING HUMEROUS? Maybe your response is humerous. I wish Paqcuaio can give up his ROIDS for a fight with Mayweather. I wonder when Pacquaio is finally going to face a slick boxer, and not some flat footed, come straight forward, brawling Mexican. Clottey is no different, he has no movement and he is basicly a statue in the ring, just like all of Pacquaio’s cherry picked opponents. He complained that Yuri Foreman was too tall and ducked him, but I remember Mayweather fighting a taller Diego Corralles, and flooring him like 8 times. And they say that Mayweather cherry picks?????

  • kevvy kev says:

Cotto was chosen over Mosely because of more money, Mosely was the backup. After the Cotto fight naturally everybody including your momma wanted pacman vs mayweather.

mayweather is backed into a corner by having to fight mosely or pacman. the pressure is on mayweather.

  • RealFAN says:

Filipinos love Manny but he has not fought any person that Mayweather hasn’t. Also what is wrong with a drug test if you are not doping. You take the test you get Mayweather’s ass and you end all the drama. I know why do something that is not in the rules. Simple because you want the fight and nothing else really matters after that. Right now Mayweather is fighting a guy that could possibly beat him but Manny is not. Manny’s fight is to ensure his very loyal Filipino fans that he is not afraid of an African American boxer. But you have to fight a good one clearly not the case here.

Pacquiao has to fight Mayweather there is no way around it and if Mayweather defeats Mosley. The pressure will not be on Mayweather but Pacquao. White men can’t jump Filipions can’t fight.

  • kevvy kev says:

Mayweather didn’t “get” CAUGHT cheating by not meeting the agreed upon weight vs. Marquez. He had no intention in moving down in weight and just flat out CHEATED Marquez and boxing fans. Thats why there’s a weight clause vs Pacman.
He will pull as fast one.

On the other hand Pacman weight drained himself to get down to 130lbs but still fought fighters like Marquez. Now he’s fighting at a closer walking weight at 140+ and people think he’s on steroids? Mayweather is bigger than Pacman so he should be on steroids too. Both started at 106lbs LOL. Stop drinking the Mayweather juice and use you head.

  • kevvy kev says:

Pacman is the P4P king by default? Nope he took that crown by fighting exciting fights and demolishing boxers while Floyd was busy dancing with stars. Holyfield, Tyson, Lennox Lewis quoted Pacman as the P4P king. Even was named boxer of the decade. Those who disagree are who? Malignaggi and some Floyd fans lol. Even James Toney and Mosely think Floyd is scared of Pacman.

  • cali says:

i think mannys in and out style is a nightmare for any boxer especially when he puts his 3-7 punches in the mix. he makes fighters regret slugging with him cuz he moves into spots that fighters cant hurt him at. its an awesome skill he has picked up. his footwork is tremendous in the sense that mayweathers defense is great. mosley is fast and strong. but he is right hand happy pac will move behind mosleys left shoulder. and pop him with lefts and rights.
against mayweather mosleys overhand right will crushmay all thru the night!

  • cali says:

ok so castillo had 5 losses b4 mayweather so that means castillo was shot. mosley has 5 losses so hes shot! it is up to the fighters to come back and become great its not the trainers or the opposition. to me cotto looked great in trying to fight pac in the first 3 rds. pac found where and how to make cotto open and took advantage of it. dont take anything away from fighters wins cuz it can jsut be turned around to all fighters.

  • aficionado says:

Manny would get his square head boxed off by either Mayweather or Mosley

  • Tray R says:

    @ Bloopers
Shane will not only beat Pac Man, he will stop him.

  • cali says:

i think mosley will walk him down and be the tuffest aggressor may has ever met. ss will win by points 8rds to 4. its not may that will do the adjusting i believe mosley will put him in the deffensive. and ull see mosley walk thru lightweight power. then manny and shane for the best welter fight in history!

  • Duvo says:

    Cotto:
    A. Had a fallout with his uncle/trainer and hired some cheerleader for his corner
    B. Came off of a 12 round drubbing by Margarito and his plastered fists
    C. Came off terrible performance against Clottey with serious lacerations to his eyebrow
    D. Was drained 2 lbs

…..if Cotto wasn’t ripe for the picking I don’t know what you call it. Freddie Roach has said so himslef

  • cali says:

oh and cotto was cherri picked, but didnt cotto beat mosley? learn ur stuff

  • cali says:

too bad roach already said that if manny fights again after this, they will fight the winner of mosley/may! this will probably happen more than fighting for tittle 8. they will fight winner i believe that will be his last fight.

  • cali says:

ok say he got it by default but floyd decided to retire, manny was fighting all the best that he could. and mayweather was ducking dlh2, mosley, williams, margorito, cotto, clottey. there were fights out there he just does not care for boxing, he said so himslef. he is a business man!

  • ZKO says:

    @ Mansterrr

Nice write-up of the fight scenario. I think if Floyd goes down, he will get back up and heighten his defensive skills to survive the round.

I do see Shane giving him problems in this fight. Shane has a great chin and he needs to go into this fight with the mentality of taking some pot shots to deliver his combinations and wear Floyd down. Let’s see what happens.

  • BLOOPERS 101 says:

I don’t think that Mosley and Pacquiao will be a good match, Pacquiao beat Cotto to the ground and Mosley had never gave Clottey a beating just a slap like a girl in the face…

Is there any a good opponent for Pacquiao? C’mon Americans, bring your A fighter game!

  • Doc Holiday says:

Can we atleast get one thing right about Pacman if we screw everything up?….HE GOT THE P4P TITLE BY DEFAULT!!!!!!

  • zeke says:

barry bonds never got caught either but I bet half of you will swear he is juicing. no one has a history of cheating until they get caught come on people. aside from that floyd isn’t the only one that said anything about paquiao using ped’s so why is he the only one getting all the flack. why isn’t manny suing malinagi or cotto who has said that they think something is up with manny.

  • roys says:

very visual, wonder if referee cortez , floyd favor is chosen.if he is, the fight is fixed.

  • x-man says:

how come no answer to my question? on why did floyd retired for 2 years? as he fight once a year, that a vacation itself, as manny fights twice a year,so if mosley and floyd dont fight again this year ,we would have seen pac fight 3 fight vs 1 fight from both mosley and floyd ,so who delivers regularly ? pac.

  • x-man says:

Duke@ enough of pee boy,I say that if some goes on tv saying I drink my own pee, they deserve to be called pee boy.pac then was mosley a left hook guy then, between the 2 fight he put p.b. down 4 or 5 times ,and that only using the hook.now pac has the right ko and he also has left or right uppercut that also ko you, plus who want to see that fight again,

  • cali says:

move on then but he only fact u got rite was the fact that roach said that he is too good for pac rite now…. this could of been said to float his boat or just be nice to shane. the real importance of y not fight to fight the top the top the top welter right then is because manny just moved up! so did that welcome pack come with any common sense in sports

  • ILLSWAGIZZLE says:

I LIKE MOSLEY AND THINK HES A GREAT FIGHTER BUT I THINK THERE IS SOME LYING GOING OVER HERE. FLOYD FORCED? WOW, HES IS A BIG NAME HERE, NOT SHANE WHO SUFFERS FROM POPULARITY EVEN BEING A GREAT SKILLED FIGHTER. IF ANYTHING MAYWEATHER HAS CHASED HIM FOR FEW YEARS TILL MAYWEATHER BECAME BIGGER THAN HIM WHICH MADE SHANE ENVIOUS AND BITTER. SO NOW HE SAYING HE WANTS TO FIGHT FLOYD, HE GOT A TASTE OF HIS OWN MEDICINE. EITHER WAY I HOPE FLOYD DESTROYS HIM..

  • SmoovOne says:

Now that I think about it, there should also be an asterick by Pac’s victory over a “Weight Drained” DLH too.

  • SmoovOne says:

Pacquiao beat Cotto at a “Catchweight”, so really there is an asterick on that victory.

  • Elijah says:

@Cali you totally didnt answer the question So im moving on.

@rat-a-too thats all good and well but why didnt roach want Manny to fight Shane when he ran up in the gym and asked for the challenge?

the problem is all thats been going on from the pacquiao camp is TALK. Before all of this i loved Pacquiao and hated Mayweather. Now because of all these sneeky moves and constant contradictions. I find myselg siding with mayweather. Something i thought i would never do lol.

  • Duke says:

    @ crackmorris
the only reason why manny gave morales a third fight was because he had his number. manny never gave barrera a third bout cause he destroyed him twice. marquez never got a third fight cause manny knew marquez was his equal. how could marquez be a backward step. everyone KNOWS that its gonna be a tough fight. we all THOUGHT cotto, hatton and oscar were gonna be tough. but we were wrong. i’d rather see manny vs marquez over all three of the previously mentioned fights. manny ran up and away from marquez and he did the same with floyd when it came down to it.

  • MannyPacquiaoDoesSteroids says:

Manny Pacquiao is scared of Floyd Mayweather. He and his team know that he can’t beat Floyd so they are going to avoid him at all costs.

    No one likes a cheater.

  • lex_fugitive says:

    cali;
I didn’t make an argument, I simply stated what the facts are. But I agree, if you are a Pacduck supporter than the facts about him and his lies and ducking does suck. It sucks for boxing fans period. That Manny ducks the best is really disappointing. hopefully, he changes his ways and fights the winner or May 1 but he’s ducked them both already, so I doubt he will ever step up to the challenge. He could fight Mosley if Shane loses and looks old and shot all of a sudden. I can’t train for 3 days if I give blood!!! Oh, wait, if I’m scheduled to fight anyone not named Mayweather I can keep training without missing a beat and not be too weak to fight even though I gave blood less than 24 days before the bout. But if its Mayweather, than giving blood would effect me differently. Why doesn’t everyone believe me??? Its obvious giving blood has different effects depending on who your opponent is!! Pacduck never had any superstition, he just has a genuine fear of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and blatantly lied to get out of fighting him. Manny said he can’t train for 3 days after giving blood. He didn’t miss any training. A quote from Manny “Liars go to Hell”

  • x-man says:

anybody knows why floyd retired for 2 years, wasn’t he still young ?was their no challenge then ,cant see that as he only fight once a years, no one to fight then? I seen his statement on the retirement.I came to peace with myself, bab bab had to do bab bab

  • WTF says:

Has anyone watched the HBO show (real sports with bryant gumbel)? They just had a show about Olympic style drug testing and the USADA. It was kinda funny how not one person interviewed ever said anything about random blood tests. It was all urine test ! Why would HBO being the big boxing promoters of the world and knowing this was going on with GBP and Mayweather about (there has to be blood drawn up to the day of the fight)to be accurate testing, why would they not have something to back these accusations if it was true ? Sounds like Floyd BS to me !

  • cali says:

    here is ur answer bandwagoneers!
mannys camp new to expect that! the….. its been going on for a while now and they expect it! he has been giving blood for the commission that way. and another fact leading up to this fight is mannys training is ahead of schedule. maybe elijah got he last welcome packet?

  • OzBoxa says:

Elijah – You are spot on brotha! Facts are facts, so all these people who get on here making statements about ‘fiction’ need to look into things a little more. If they don’t like Mayweather, thats fine, but PLEASE don’t try saying he ducked Manny – because it was entirely the other way around, and the FACTS show this. Manny’s own COACH knows that Mayweather will beat him, so why would he want to put him in the ring with someone he knows will beat him? If he thinks Mosley is too good for Manny, and he thinks Mayweather will beat Mosley, it’s clear to see that he didn’t want to take a fight he knew his guy would not win. Pac is a power puncher – Mayweather will counter him when he has opened up to throw a big shot, and he will just score on him all fight long. Simple. Styles make fights, and Mayweather has the style to beat Pac. So Pac ducked the fight.

  • rat-a-too says:

Elijah@ pac and mosley will fight if moslet win pac has ask for the fight in febuary
article was here a few week ago .Manny Pacquiao is reportedly interested in fighting a unification bout against WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley in July ,according to the Manila Times. Pacquiao believes that Mosley will beat Mayweather on May 1st,

  • Duke says:

    @ thinkaboutit
so what that floyd came in overweight. he was 146, not 148. floyd can easily make 147. what are you talking about. pacquiao is the same fighter he was in the marquez rematch. he’s just been cherry-picking damaged fighters since.
    @ OK
what are you talking about. why marquez was making his bones at 126, floyd was working his way up to welter. was there any demand for floyd to fight marquez, barrera or morales? never! and when did you ever hear of a former welter champ going down to lightweight to fight it’s champ? don’t make sense. if marquez is so old and shopwarn, why isn’t manny challenging him?
    @ eric
so being one-dimensional and easy to beat gives you a pass to be juiced. please!
    @ fightfan
floyd had five fights at 147. mitchell, judah, baldomir, hatton and marquez. all five were champs at one time or the other. that’s a better resume than manny with oscar and cotto.

  • Anonymous says:

i dont see how its such a huge demand askin fo randon style drug testing that BOTH fighters would b subjected to. this demand is no different then askin the welteriweght champ to fight u for his belt for a catch wieght. pacmans camp wana always call the shots but when some one asks something they say they dont wana b bossed around. wat r they doin cause they made alot of demands.

  • Elijah says:

    @Lex_Fug…
Yo you see how Cali didnt answer your questions lol. He dont know the answer.

This should be clear enough for even Pac fans to understand :1.)its a fact that mosely challenged Pacquiao twice and his trainer Roach said to mosely “YOU ARE TOO GOOD FOR MANNY”.(you can look that up anywhere) 2.) recently Roach was interviewed and was asked who he thought would win Mayweather Vs. Mosely Roach said “MAYWEATHER” right on this websight you can find that article. 3.) if Pacquiao’s trainer would say that mosely is too good for his fighter manny, and then say mayweather would beat mosely. Common sense will tell you that he honestly does not think pacquiao can beat mayweather. 4.) Roach also admitted that pacquiao would have to fight the perfect fight beat mayweather.

Now I ask: Is it really that hard to believe that the pac camp never really wanted to fight mayweather? that would explain all of the excuses and shady behavior from the pacquiao camp. Now these are facts people.

  • OzBoxa says:

THINKABOUTIT: “Pacman is where he’s at today because he earned the respect of fighting top contenders and not dodging them like Mayweather has.” – Mayweather has fought the likes of champions Dela Hoya and Hatton, BOTH of who Pacquio fought AFTER Mayweather did, so that statement by you shows both your ignorance and bias on the subject at hand. Mayweather has fought MANY great hall of fame fighters…and beaten them ALL. He would have fought and BEATEN Pacquio had Pacquio not been afraid to fight and gone running under the ‘scared of needles’ excuse. Pacquios camp know he doesn’t have the skill to beat Floyd – so they opted out of the fight. NOT Floyd. Anyone saying otherwise is on crack, and hasnt looked into the facts. Floyd was subject to all the same conditions as Pac, so there would have been no advantage for him – Pac just knew his ‘hype’ would be busted if he stepped into the ring with Mayweather.

  • cali says:

    booo! lex
ur argument sucks did they atleast give u a welcome pack on that bandwagon?

  • Dude Really? says:

It’s never asking too much to ask for a guy to show that he is clean any any sport. the only people who seriously have issues with taking drug test are drug users. Clean, sober and honest hard working people like majority of us who has absolutely nothing to hide has no problem at all with taking any form of dope testing. Arum is bad for boxing, period. Let the commission make the rules, but they made the rule for the penalty of being over weight, which has always been handled by the commission but they made that rule. The only people who can’t see plain as day that Pac team made a lot of rules (which Floyd agreed to) which has always been in the hands of the commission is ignorant and you only waste your time trying to convence them otherwise. Arum wants to have it both ways, Drug Testing in the hands of the commission but Penalties in the hands of him. The only difference between a old fool and and young fool is that the old fool was once a young fool, but he still a fool, and that’s the majority of the individuals who post here. They say if you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that holler is the one you hit, let me see who holler first in here!

  • mally j says:

1st off look at the interview with Mayweather given before the super bowl Mayweather didn’t ask for a rematch Mosley did, are you forgetting Mosley has the belt. Also Mayweather didn’t fight Morles and Barrara b/c he was moving up in weight he would have kicked they butt to. Say what you want about Floyd he is the best boxer hands down and he gonna make Old Sugar Mosley look bad just watch.Mayweather ain’t no punk he gonna show u wzup watch .

  • Dude Really? says:

And to actually be factual and more precise, Floyd name has appeared on the Forbes list several times. Man I can’t stand when dudes come in here trying to throw information around like they know what they talking about, trying to belittle a fighter to uplift the guy they support. Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t lie.

  • MrFlint says:

Ok,let’s clear this up-8oz gloves are used just about everywhere at 147lbs.In Nevada it is negotiable.
Manny will step into the ring weighing 146-148lbs,Floyd will be 155-158lbs these days a sizable advantage that he can’t be allowed to exploit outside of the agreed boundries..AGAIN(Marquez).
“All Floyd wanted was to….?” Basically all Floyd wanted was to make up his own rules whereas all Manny’s requests are commonly negotiated.
I agree, Floyd would present all kinds of problems for Manny but he also hates fast lefties, that’s what makes the fight so interesting. Can’t see SSM beating him…
    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
    @ eric
floyd is all about the money. manny just didn’t want the fight. manny wanted 8 ounce gloves and stiff penalities for coming in overweight. floyd agreed. all floyd wanted was random blood testing up to 14 days prior to fight. manny said no. manny knew that elite counterpunchers give him trouble. bob arum knew that too! that’s why he didn’t talk him into the fight and had clottey already lined up for him. i know floyd is full of it when stating he wants to clean up the sport. he just wants to make sure manny aint juiced. is that too much to ask?

  • Dude Really? says:

boxing_ego, Pac is not on the list of highest paid Athelets in the world of all-time, he had a high paying year 2009, Floyd was on the same Forbes list in 2008. Dude stop trying to take data and construe it to support what ever dumb point your trying to make.

  • wowzabean says:

Tell ‘em like it is Shane.

  • Nice guy says:

Manny doesnt need Floyd, Floyd needs Manny!!!So stop with all the demands.

  • nick says:

    agreed Rufus
Arum needs to go. If Floyd and Manny both win their fights the fight will happen, but that’s if. Especially for Floyd fighting Mayweather. I think Shane may be the best of the three.

  • vinny says:

I actually think there is a little bit of truth to the Mosley statements. PBF is one of the best boxers out there, but hasn’t been proven as a force in the WW division. PBF beat Judah (Clottey beat Judah) and Baldomir (Clottey was winning that fight until he was disqualified). So PBF’s wins at WW don’t really mean much as far as being proven. Mosley is the top guy that PBF could have fought before he retired and when he came back from retirement. We would not have been seeing this fight if Berto hadn’t lost family members in the tragedy in Haiti. Up to that point PBF was looking to fight the likes of Matthew Hatton and Paulie Malignaggi, not legit WWs. If PBF hadn’t taken the Mosley fight how credible would he have looked? And if Floyd really is about the money he should’ve fought Oscar in a rematch and cleaned out the WW division before he retired. A rematch with Oscar would have brought in millions because Oscar was truly the cash cow of boxing. So who was walking away from millions?

I’m a big Mosley fan, so I hope he delivers. I’ll be rooting for you Mosley so bring the fight to PBF and give him his first loss!

  • You Know I'm Right says:

There is no way Manny Pacquiao is getting close to a needle. Why stop juicing when there are no tests being done by the Nevada commission to detect PEDS?

The person that makes Manny prove he is clean will clean his clock. Mayweather and Mosely will push for this. I do believe both Mayweather and Mosely will beat Pacquiao when they fight. All of them may be 40 years old, but they will fight one day.

    You Know I’m Right!

  • wilson says:

If person will say that Clottey is unknown opponent doesn’t really know about boxing. Clottey is one of the top welterweight boxer. Look at his loses. With Margarito he broke his hand but he fought to the last round, one disqualification and a close fight with Cotto. Some people think he won the fight against Cotto. He fougth a better fight than Mosley against Cotto. He was never been knockout. He’s big and strong welterweight. Even some boxing fans especially Rugged Man said that nobody in Mayweather previous opponents could beat Clottey & Cotto.

  • Fight Fan says:

Duke: Yes Floyd was a great boxer at the lower weights. But his resume at 147 is very poor. He retired when the top guys were fighting each other. Manny has a better resume at 147 and he has only been at that weight a couple of years.

  • bob says:

Floyd can’t beat Cotto and will never challenge him at this point. Manny whooped on cotto.

But seriously, where were all the accusers before Floyd camp” cowardly act? Oh, I know, they were betting against manny the last four fights.

We’ll always have these haters in this world,,,hating on the champion. Floyd and his minions are just exposing themselves the more they bring up “steroids” and “testing”. Cowards. Can’t win in the ring…so you resort to the “NEW LOW”.

  • Eric says:

OK Duke, I brought Morales just for reference. We can go back and forth on this. Still wouldn’t change our opinion. Blood testing was the key “buddy”. “One dimentional, easy to beat” fighter don’t need no blood testing.

  • Duke says:

    @ thinkaboutit
your sounding as though floyd never paid his dues and has been ducking all his life. you probably don’t remember his dominance at 130 beating the likes as jesus chavez, genaro and carlos hernandez, diego corrales, angel manfredy and emmanuel augustis. manny may have 15 more fights than floyd but he started two years earlier. manny is exciting but that doesn’t mean he will beat floyd. manny doesn’t want to fight marquez anymore. so why would you blame him not wanting to fight a bigger better faster stronger version of marquez in floyd?

  • Rufus says:

Nick, Manny didn’t get played, he simply has no control over who he fights, when or where; he serves Arum/Top Rank and that’s unfortunate. The upcoming fight with Clottey is a disaster for him. He’s at the height of his popularity and earning power and they stuck him in Texas with an unknown opponent. This fight will be a disaster at the live gate–3 wks to go and tons of tickets/great seats still available all over the arena. And, with top ticket prices of $700. PPV buys will be low; Manny should be a lock for 1M buys with a decent opponent. This fight will do half that; there is ZERO buzz for this fight and no HBO 24/7.

On top of all that, Arum gets 20% off the top of Manny’s purse. He needs to wake up and leave this Top Rank. Like them or not, GBP is a direct result of Arum’s greedy, controlling ways. It’s time he and Don King go the way of the dinosaur.

  • Duke says:

you brought up morales, i didn’t. yes floyd ran his mouth but all he wanted in the fight was random blood testing. if manny was so good why did he care if they fought in 10 ounce gloves and if floyd came in over 147? it swings both ways buddy!

  • lex_fugitive says:

    cali;
Manny claimed giving blood made him take three days off of training. But he just gave blood a few days ago, just 20 days before his bout with Clottey, and didn’t miss one day of training!! Not one day! None! It would leave him to weak to fight if taken inside 24 days and would keep him out of training for 3 days. And he’s proven those were both nothing but lies to get out of fighting the best. He just gave blood 20 days before fighting Clottey and he didn’t miss any training!! But if he was training for Mayweather, the exact same thing would somehow prevent him from training for 3 days?!?! He will forever go down as Pacduck now. He could have just said he didn’t want to fight Floyd, he didn’t have to make up all those lies.

  • Eric says:

Duke, Morales is out of equation. Morales didn’t claimed that Manny is easy to beat, Floyd did. Floyd is running his mouth nonstop and yet he can’t even back it up.

  • cali says:

another thing that baffles mi is where were u accusers b4 floyd came in accusing? u guys are jumping on his bandwagon and its seriously the real hating i see, cus truth is manny beat the same fighters floyd did and he did it better, regardless of age and how many losses they may have… we can say that all the people that floyd faught except for corrales was blow if u wanna look at it lik that.

  • Solini says:

And secondly who’s really buying into the lil amount of blood they take weakens you, has any doctor come forth and supported his claim? Also Morales had blood taken from him as well so should he say if I didn’t have blood taken I would’ve knocked Pacquaio out? Also when he’s been cut in fights and lost blood and won did he say I would’ve won more convincingly had i not been cut?

  • Drake says:

Floyd’s the P4P king…No1 @ 147 can beat him…he’s going to clean out the division and clean up the sport…

  • nick says:

Manny got played by Arum, hard core. Manny would have taken the fight eventually. It was arum ruining every offer on the table. In the end Manny will make twenty million instead of fifty, but Arum will make double because he owns both fighters, and if Clottey wins (which could happen) Arum still owns the winning fighter. Arum blew the deal on purpose. Manny and Rouch got played. They are stupid.

  • Solini says:

    @ THINKABOUTIT….
Yeah he blamed it on blood, being taken, the head butt, the gloves he came up with everything he could think of. Now the man who molded him what did he do afterwards? Freddie Roach saw that fight again and vowed to make Manny Pacquaio more then just aleft hand fighter and he did. Blood had nothing to do with it, Morales stayed away from Manny’s left and back then that’s all he had.

  • Duke says:

    @ eric
so just because floyd thinks he can beat manny means manny can be juiced coming into the bout? that don’t make sense! do you really think taking blood the day before the first morales fight made him lose? i thought it was erik’s long jab and big right hands that beat him. give morales his due! he beat manny fair and square.

  • puggy says:

    rounds that is

  • shut up says:

like floyd zeke is in big denial!!!

  • puggy says:

Yeah, if Mosely insists on random drug testing beyond what the STATE ATHLETIC COMMISSIONS MANDATE, the fight might not happen. Kinda like if Manny asked for 15 instead of the standard 12.

  • zeke says:

robin, why when floyd is asking for something in the contract he is dictating but it is ok for manny to ask for things.
eric, i don’t see the problem with asking for the random blood test. i am not saying that manny is doing anything but I think he had one too many excuses on why he didn’t want to take the test. in the beginning roach agreed to it. then it was manny is afraid of needle next it was giving blood makes him weak. then it was it was him not being bullied by floyd. stick to one story.

  • Eric says:

Duke, we all know and I’m pretty sure Floyd’s sources know about the issue on Manny taking his blood (based on Morales fight). The thing is though and it puzzled me, if Floyd is claiming that Manny is very easy to beat, why would ask for olympic blood testing? I don’t get it.

  • Duke says:

    @ eric
floyd is all about the money. manny just didn’t want the fight. manny wanted 8 ounce gloves and stiff penalities for coming in overweight. floyd agreed. all floyd wanted was random blood testing up to 14 days prior to fight. manny said no. manny knew that elite counterpunchers give him trouble. bob arum knew that too! that’s why he didn’t talk him into the fight and had clottey already lined up for him. i know floyd is full of it when stating he wants to clean up the sport. he just wants to make sure manny aint juiced. is that too much to ask?

  • Nice guy says:

Floyd talks like Manny needs him, Manny doesn’t need Floyd, Floyd needs Manny, So stop with all the demands!! Floyd goes out of his way to trash talk Manny, why ?? is it because he knows that he will never get in the ring with him???

  • Eric says:

Zeke, I agreed on Manny asking for overweight penalty because of what happened on Floyd’s previous fight. 10mil? I don’t know, a little too much I guess. Manny signed with Clottey after Golden Boy announced they could not agree on the blood testing issue. Why would he want to wait? FYI I don’t dislike Floyd, I just think it’s to obvious that he is worried about this little thrilla from Manila.

  • gary says:

who cares who said no to the fight? the bad thing is the fight did not push through. the great thing is we have two fights that promise to be exciting. doesn’t matter who ducked who or someone was forced to fight who. i just hope the winners of mar 13 & may 1 get to fight. frankly, i don’t care who wins. i just want toe-to-toe action. i also want to see pacman-mosley — that would be fireworks!

i can say it because manny signed to another fight and ended negotiations. come on you want to talk about denial. let’s list the facts. everyone said that floyd wouldn’t take a 50/50 split he did. then he agreed to the 10 mil overweight. floyd asked for random blood testing and paquiao said no. manny’s camp was talking about other fighter while still in negotiation with mayweather. don’t be blinded for your dislike of mayweather, think about what i am saying. these guys fight people for a living i wouldn’t call one scared of the other.

Mayweather wasn’t forced into anything. He could have fought anyone. Or no one, he could say he had a loose tooth. Also, its not known if Manny will fight Mosley. He ducked him last summer. He could’ve waited out and fought Mosley instead of Clottey. Berto hadn’t pulled out when Mayweather STARTED negotations with Shane. Floyd had literally called Mosley out for years and years, and Shane always had some excuse. AND MANNY WAS VIDEOTAPED GIVING BLOOD 20 DAYS BEFORE HIS FIGHT WITH CLOTTEY. WHEN MAYWEATHER WANTED HIM TO DO THE EXACT SAME THING IT WOULD “WEAKEN” HIM AND HE REFUSED. HE DIDN’T MISS ANY TRAINING EITHER. HOW WAS IT SUCH A HUGE PROBLEM WHEN MAYWEATHER WANTED TO FIGHT HIM BUT NOT ANYTHING WHEN HES FIGHTING CLOTTEY??? PACDUCK AT HIS BEST!! QUACK, QUACK, QUACK! PACDUCK WILL NEVER FACE MAYWEATHER OR MOSLEY. Either they are too good or he will develop a new superstition that will disappear as soon as hes scheduled another second tier opponent. Pacduck ducked Mayweather, there are no two ways about it. He said it would weaken too much to fight if blood was taken less than 30 days before a fight. when he was told there was video of him doing that 24 days before a fight 9 months earlier it was nothing less than 24 days, it would leave him too weak to fight. He also lied saying he wouldn’t be able to train for 3 days after giving blood!!! He didn’t miss one day!!

I think Mayweathers return to boxing will either land him in real trouble or put him in the list – Top 10 P4P boxers of all time.

They Mosley fight just fell into his lap. He had no plans to fight Pacquiao and was looking for an opponent. I cannot believe Matthew Hatton was talked about, Malginaggi was marginally better, then Mosley happened. This guy has been in with some tough guys and beat some top boxers, he is dangerous and a bit desperate. Mosley has a big chance to capsize the Mayweather story.

Pacquiao is the other danger, if he beats Clottey then he fights the winner. This has to happen, it needs to happen. If Mayweather beats both of them then he can walk away knowing his legacy is safe. If Pacquiao or Mosley do it then I will be surprised.

  • Eric says:

zeke, how can you say Manny pulled out from the fight? You must be in denial. Plain and simple, if Floyd is claiming Manny is one dimensional why would ask for blood test? He could’ve step into that ring without asking all tis blood testing and beat the crap of Manny plus make 30mil on top of it.

  • zeke says:

how did floyd duck paquiao, by asking for things in the fight? fighters ask for certain conditions all the time. how could floyd have been certain that paquiao was going to say no?

  • leroy jenkins says:

even james toney said this. “The thing is this: Do you know what a rabbit does when it gets backed into a corner? It faints. And that’s what Floyd’s doing.” floyd will faint when he see pac inside the ring with him.

  • leroy jenkins says:

it was floyd who ducked paquiao period.

  • leroy jenkins says:

paquiao vs mosley that is the fight that i wanna watch.

  • zeke says:

i don’t know why people can’t seem to get this one simple thing through their heads. Manny pulled out of the fight. you can say whatever you want about floyd being scared but manny said no to the fight. all the not giving in to mayweather or not letting mayweather dictate the rules is useless talk because in the end it was manny who pulled out.

  • zeke says:

umm most fights have rematch clauses in the contract.

  • Eric says:

Duke, if Floyd is all about the money then he should have fight Manny. In case you will mention, Floyd cleaning up the sport of boxing is pure BS.

  • Duke says:

mosely talking smack? he must be old. floyd wasn’t forced to fight anyone. he’s all about the money and shane was the biggest fight out there after manny. shane has been the same since he won a title at 135. he wanted to fight stars. floyd wasn’t then but he is now. it aint floyd’s fault that shane hasn’t fought in over a year. shane should have capitalized on his margarito victory but instead of defending his crown, he went cold begging for floyd and manny.
