All of Mannys’ opponents have either been past their prime, or on their way down. None have been on their way up, or at the peak of their careers.

I will say though that Clottey and Marquez are the best fighters Pacquiao has ever faced!

Floyd’s idol is Manny Pacquiao. Proof? Look at videos of Pacquiao’s fights where Floyd is there at ringside. Watch him jump up and down whenever Manny knocks out his opponent.

That’s why Floyd can’t stop talking about Manny even though Manny has moved on with his life. Even fighting Mosley, he still talks about Manny and does not talk about Mosley in the interviews. Weird!!

Your arguments are probably true because mayweather and shane where both American and the fight is happening in their country. And also they have name in boxing unlike clottey. But the big question is how much ppv buy and ticket sales will pacman produce even though he is the only big draw on their event. I’m sure that the Mosley-Mayweather bout will do better than the Pacquiao-Clottey encounter. No question about this. But the big ÏF is this. Will the Mosley-Mayweather fight really happen? I might be wrong this time, but I think some kind of injury or sickness might hit Mayweather in the last week of April 2010. There’s a big possibility that this will happen because Mayweather have a lot to lose if Mosley wins this fight. This is just my guess, but who knows this might be a right guess again.

What does it have to do with anything? Denying a test is not a round about admission of guilt. He’s had past troubles with blood testing. continuity has him sticking to his own experience. Believing otherwise is a half-witted baseless assumption geared to satisfy your belief that he is dirty. Just like the facts that you present.

It’s understandable that there would be questions after how everyone in team Pac handled the situation. But if you want to dwell on facts; the fact is, he’s never failed a test, never been involved, associated, or named by or with, a known user or dealer. And the fact of the matter is, there is no evidence to over turn the ruling on the field outside connecting the dots with half-witted baseless assumptions.

Pac has always been a beast in the gym. No one was screaming steroids then.

I am not calling scientists liars, but I do pay attention to the evidence as it applies to boxing and not to sports in general. The evidence in boxing is that not a single fighter has displayed a Barry Bonds, or Mark McGwire like boost in performance from doping. Not with EPO, or with steroids. You find me one, and I’ll concede that point.

Manny has naturally gone up in weight as he has gotten older, which is not uncommon among athletes. And it’s only been recently that Manny has “let himself go” by fighting at higher weight.

And yes, people witness the large amounts of food that the guy takes in per day. Now you go out, eat 5000 calories as day, work out for hours on end, and tell me that you don’t get bigger, stronger, and faster.

And it’s not like Manny is any stronger or faster than he already was. If Manny has gotten and boost, it’s in the knowledge/skills department to which there isn’t a drug you can take that will boost that.

Again, I bring up the Mosley fights because he actually performed worse than he did when he wasn’t using. I’m not making that up, you can watch for yourself. Yes it does contradict whatever article you posted, but even Larry Merchant, who is always around the sport, is unsure how effective PED’s can be when applied to boxing.

As much as Floyd Jr. fans want to give credit that’s he’s the draw, the quality opponent is as much part of that to the contrary. In saying this, “American Fight fans” and American Audience” should be tuning in to this. A fight that will follow the Pacquiao vs Clottey bout on the 13th. In saying this without any insult to the Floyd fans will also help draw more attention to the Mayweather vs Mosley bout. I agree that the Mayweather-Mosley fight should sell more. It’s not a guarantee, but it’s likely. The thing is, it’s also a fight Mayweather could lose easier than Pacquiao to Clottey. Both Clottey and Mosley are dangerous, but Mosley is probably the biggest threat to off-rail the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight. I think Mayweather will win, but he’s taking a bigger risk as well.

Pacquiao could’ve jumped at a Mosley fight before Mayweather did, but that was when Mayweather’s team was throwing around P. Malignaggi and M. Hatton as possible replacements. Assuming he would take such a fight, the Clottey fight probably looked pretty bad ass and dangerous at the time.

The other thing is, like you said, Clottey is Top Rank and they don’t have to share the profits with another company. Not only is Mosley Golden Boy, but he would probably be pressured by his company to make the same drug-testing stance. Even if he didn’t want to, it would make more sense for him to put such a thing in the contract, because unlike Floyd, he has a history of doping. He could pass it off as just trying to clear his own name – not to smear Pacquiao’s.

So anyways, Mayweather had the benefit of countering Pacquiao’s first shot. Call it a feint, or maybe it wasn’t, but Mayweather ‘wanting’ to fight Lil’ Hatton probably tricked the Pac-team into thinking Clottey would be like taking the high road.

In these era in boxing, Floyd can only lurk in the shaddow of Pacquiao. Pacquiao is a Prescious comodity to the world of boxing and Fans love what he brings to the table. He set the bar higher more than anyone in the sport of boxing. I’ve never read or heard Roach ever mentioning Paulie M. as a possible opponent for Pacquiao. On the contrary I think I read in one of the articles here that Paulie M. was sour-graping because he wasn’t even considered by the Pacquiao camp. As far as I know it was the Mayweather camp who were considering Paulie M. as an alternative opponent before the Mosley-Berto fight was called off.

What does PPV sales represent? How good a boxer is in boxing? How good a boxer in drawing a croud? As for me, and maybe true to most if not all I am interested to see the match to be sure that what I expected to see or what I believe to see has happened. For example, in the PBF vs JMM match, I wanted to see that PBF was not really doing good as did Manny against JMM. Same is true in the PBF ODLH match and PBF vs Hatton where PBFs performance can not compare to when those opponents fought against the Pacman. I am boxing fan and understand how skillful a boxer is in a fight. If the PBF Mosley fight will outsell the Pacquiao Clottey fight, that will only confirm my belief that the Pacman’s superior skill in boxing is now widely known that can not be easily equalled with the present contenders in his weight class. The self proclamation of the loud mouth PBF to be the best boxer in the world today is a proof of his insecurity while observing how the Pacman demolished one after another the best contenders.

I will not be paying to see the Pac-Clottey fight. Not worth it. In fact, the only time I will pay to see Pacquiao fight, is if it’s against somebody big. He’s entertaining, in an MMA kind of way, throwing wild punches, and throwing his arms up when he gets hit, and having clumbsey footwork, but not worth my $50. I’ll pay to see a real champ like Mosley, Williams, Colazzo, Mayweather, or even some of the new up & commers, but not Pacquiao. Why would I pay to see a second teir fighter (being propped up by boxing) fight a journeymen, when I can see two REAL world champs fight.

As far as the PPV numbers…

When he fought JMM, he was no where near as popular as he was when Mayweather fought JMM.

As a matter of fact, he didn’t really become what he is today until he floored Hatton.

There is really no way to justifiably say that either fighter deserves the bigger share whenever, if ever, they fight.

Truth be told, at this point, Pacqiuao would be the bigger draw. Floyd’s popularity at it’s height is no where near where Pac’s is now. To be fair, Pac does have the strength of an entire nation behind him. But even on U.S soil, Pac’s fearsome offensive style of fighting is favored over Floyd’s masterful boxing style.

So for Floyd to come out and say that he is now demanding a higher cut as well as more money, he is basically saying that he doesn’t want to fight Pacquiao.

Mayweather- Mosley is suppose to outsell Pac-Clottey. It would be very, very, very shocking if it didn’t.

May-Mos would have to crush Pac-Clot for May to make a wholly justifiable case to get the bigger purse should he actually fight Pac.

Of course if Mayweather is going to shut his end as far as negotiations, then the May-Pac fight will never happen regardless of who wins or loses these upcoming fights.

I’m a Pacfan but you may be right 100%. Floyd will outsell Pacquiao in PVV buys. To use Floyd’s own words, Pacquiao has no “dance parter” in Clottey, as Floyd had none in Marquez, which was outsold by Pacquiao-Hatton.

Clottey was the best fighter they could find on short notice huh? or was he the best fighter they could drain with short notice. He could have fought timothy Bradley, Amir Khan, Nate Cambell, Kendal Holt, Paul M, in the lightwelter weight division. All these are his size. Timothy Bradley is said to be a younger and more aggresser Floyd Mayweather. He could have fought:Vyacheslav Senchenko, Selcuk Aydin, and Jan Zaveck in the welterweight division. These 3 guys are foreign fights and have countries that enjoy boxing supporting them. But no he took Clottey who is overweight and stiff. You know why he didn’t fight either of these guys Because they are fast, powerful and most of them haven’t been beaten yet.

Mayweather-Marquez had to postpone due to tickets not selling needed additional time promoting their fights via 24/7.

The first time I watched Mayweather was during his fight with Baldomir, it was so boring. I thought it was just me but then at the later rounds people began booing because there was not much action. This has been a hallmark of Mayweather fights. Don’t get me wrong, I think Mayweather is truly a gifted defensive fighter, but I don’t want to watch a 12-round fight with mostly defensive action, no thanks. Will definitely watch Pacquiao-Clottey instead. It will definitely be action-packed.

Roach considered having Manny face Mosley. Mosley-Berto was still scheduled when MAYWEATHER INITIATED NEGOTATIONS. Mayweather ain’t running from someone for being “too good.” Williams would have gladly fought Manny on March 13. Manny was in a rush to sign anyone not named Mayweather or Mosley or Williams. He’s running out of shot fighters to face. so now he’s just going after second-tier guys to begin with. ODLH and Hatton were supposed to be the two with the best chance of beating Floyd in 07. He fought them both. He’s been calling out and chasing Mosley for 10 years. He cleaned out 130 and fought the best at 135, not the weakest title-holder. Judah was the undisputed welterweight champ when he signed to fight him. Baldomir had more impressive wins than Margarito was the Ring champ and lineal champ and the biggest payday. Mayweather is just doing what he’s always done, fight the best. Manny is continuing to do what he always does, avoiding the best.

Pacquiao-Clottey needs to get at least a million PPV buys to have any argument of a 50/50 split. Mayweather-Marquez was viewed as a mismatch and not expected to get anywhere close to a million, but it exceeded expectations. Manny and ODLH was expected to get 2 million PPV buys and didn’t come anywhere near that. Against Hatton, Mayweather got 100,000 more buys in the US and almost a million more in the UK. Mayweather only agreed to the 50/50 split, the crazy penalty, the gloves, and the ring because he wanted to fight Pacquiao. However, Pacquiao wouldn’t negotiate at all.

Well it doesn’t take a genius to state the obvious. Pacquiao picked Clottey because he was in a rush to fight before elections started in late March. Given the circumstances good choice. Mayweather lucked out w/Mosley, still can’t believe he’s actually fighting him.

I’m a big fan of Pacquiao but it is GUARANTEED that Floyd-Mosley outsells Pac-Clottey. It’s just a fact you need to accept. You can talk all you want about Pac is the better fighter and you won’t give your money to mayweather but the fact is casual fans have heard of Mayweather and Mosley. Only big boxing fans really know about Clottey. So while I am a Pacman fan, he won’t beat Mayweather-Mosley PPV numbers

Mayweather-Mosley has all the commercial advantages that Pacquiao-Clottey doesn’t- two American, english-speaking (or what the Mayweathers consider English, anyway) athletes, and HBO producing a 24/7 for them, which has proven to be HUGE marketing-wise. One would think that those factors alone would trump two foreign, non English speakers (at least not as a first language) with limited promotion. If I were to guess, I’d say Pacquiao-Clottey does 800,000 while Mayweather-Mosley clocks it at an even million.

But in the end, it should be about seeing good, action-packed fights for fans. Doesn’t make sense to gloat if your favorite fighter(s) out does PPV buys of others because you won’t see a damn penny of that money, so how does it affect YOU the fan?

History tells us that Pacquiao-Clottey will be an action-packed fight from start to finish while Mayweather-Mosley will be one guy chasing another whose hiding in his shell, pot-shotting, and perpetually backing away for 12 lackluster rounds…

Cadillac: This is Pacquiao’s 1st fight with a true welterweight. DLH was not a welterweight, he came down in weight from 160 and made himself a stiff trying to lose the weight. Cotto fought at a a “catchweight” at 145lbs and dropping the extra 2 lbs. killed him. The Cotto fight was NOT a true 147 lbs welterweight fight.

So this is really Pac’s 1st stint fighting a true welterweight without a catchweight. He should kill this stiff Clottey though. He’s taylor made for him like all the other weight drained (DLH , Cotto) stiffs Pacquiao has been fighting of late.

Mayweather promises fireworks and delivers nothing but smoke. I regreted the only Mayweather PPV I ever bought. All he did was cover up and run. Unless he’s fighting the Pacman, I’ll never buy his fight again. Now Pacquaio, I’ll buy his fights no matter what stiff they put in with him!
