Matthysse and De Leon both destroy opponents

By Eric Thomas: Former World Boxing Organization super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon (38-2, 33 KO’s) took out Orlando Cruz (16-2-1, 7 KO’s) in the 3rd round tonight in a scheduled 12 round bout to capture the vacant WBC featherweight Latino title at the Auditorio Plaza Condesa, in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico.The bout was stopped at 2:37 of the 3rd round. For De Leon, 29, this was his 4th consecutive win since being destroyed by Juan Manuel Lopez in the 1st round in June 2008.

In other action, unbeaten light welterweight contender Lucas Martin Matthysse (26-0, 24 KO’s) made easy work of former WBA light welterweight champion Vivian Harris (29-4-1, 19 KO’s), taking him out in the 4th round of a scheduled 10 round bout. The bout was stopped at 2:44 of the 4th round.
