Pac was the bigger guy against ODLH on fight night. Oscar weighed in at 145 the night before and actually came in the same weight on fight night, which is unheard of and unhealthy considering he was fighting at 154 and coming into fights probably around 160, not being able to rehydrate from the weigh in is extremely telling. Not taking anything away from Pac, just saying Pac was probably a healthy 147-149 that night, while ODLH was a feeble 145.

Whenever I tell my friends (all average sports fans that buy the big fights that they know both fighters in) Mayweather-Mosley is on May 1 and tell them Pacquiao is fighting Clottey they all say the same two things: May 1st will be great. And Pacquiao’s fighting who? I tell them Clottey again and again they ask “who?” May 1 easily doubles the opening act for the real event.

The only fight Pacquiao has been an underdog against was ODLH. Against Hatton and Cotto he was the heavy favorite and I didn’t read or hear anyone saying Hatton was too strong for Manny. Hatton got a gift against Lazcano. Cotto looked slower, weaker, worse stamina, and an even shakier chin. In fact thats what all the boxing analysts said and wrote way before Manny was ever mentioned as an opponent. Now that Manny beat a couple of shot fighters that he was a very heavy favorite over, the Pactards come out in force insisting Manny was a huge underdog and he proved everyone wrong. When in fact, Manny just proved everyone right in showing that the previous few fights weren’t flukes and these fighters really were shot. After Manny beats Clottey the Pactards will insist Manny was a huge underdog and pulled off the biggest upset ever. When in fact, he’ll just prove whats been stated numerous times: Clottey is a B grade fighter to begin with.

Everyone is a bunch of hypocrites I guarantee most of the skeptics before all the pacquiao fights said DHL is way too big ,Hatton was the best and undefeated in jr. welter division, or or Cotto is to strong and to big for pacman. What now did they all loose their skills and become shot fighters hours before the fight, people are ignorant and stupid.

Floyd Mayweather Jr can easily be beaten by an IN-FIGHTER or SWARMER which was proven during first fight of Mayweather vs Castillo whom Castillo has clearly won.
The key to a swarmer is aggression, endurance, chin, and bobbing-and-weaving. Ricky Hatton has proven it once when he landed a right then later a left jab that almost KO Floyd in the remaining 1:25 of the 1st round. Hatton was short with his armory for having not enough speed and power to finish Floyd on that first round. With desperation having no capability for a KO, Floyd deliver his KO on the 10th round.
The style of Mike Tyson can easily beat Floyd Mayweather Jr.

A Pacman – Bradley fight could have prepared Pacquiao for Mayweather. Let’s face it, Pacman fanatics thinks he is better than he actually is. But true fans of boxing know that he hasn’t fought anyone on Mayweather’s skill level other than JMM. Mayweather totally dominated JMM, forget whether JMM came up in weight. It was a complete shutout. Mayweather is in a class by himself, skill wise.

Even Freddie Roach knows this and has said that “Pacquiao would have to fight a perfect fight to be Mayweather.”

Good article. Pac’s last few fights with the exception of the Diaz fight have all been damaged goods. I agree with this article completely. I also wondered why he even fought Barrera at all. If he would have fought Cotto at 147 instead of the “Catchweight” of 145, I think the fight would have been more competitive.

FACTs are facts and you can’t change the FACTS. At the same time you have to give MAYWEATHER credit for fighting DLH at DLH’s weight of 154, not a weight drained 147. And you have to give Mayweather credit for beating Hatton. Hatton was good at that time and Hatton was undefeated.

Pacquiao hasn’t been tested at all against “skilled” boxers in his entire career, with the exception of Morales (1st fight only, 2 others Morales had trouble making 130) or JMM. Both of the JMM fights were close. I thought Pacquiao should have fought Timothy Bradley who’s definitely skilled, instead of another stiff, Josh Clottey.

Manny is a cracking fighter no doubt about it. Oscar hatton and cotto were not the fighters they once were but that always happens in boxing. Manny beat them easily and didnt look in any trouble in doing it. He is a come forward fighter that can fill stadiums and whatever because of his exciting style. Floyd on the other hand is a pure counter puncher and looks awesome doing it. It might look like he is scared to get involved but he is clever and doesnt want to take punishment, which is alot harder to do than being an all out slugger. Remember ‘the greatest’ Ali, was also a counter puncher who didnt have to get into wars because he was skilful enough he didnt have to. Manny and floyd both deserve massive credit for how they fight and what they have acomplished. I personally feel floyd will win if they fight but no one knows in this great sport.
