Booth stops Marsh

By Sean McDaniel: BBBofC British super bantamweight champion Jason Booth (35-5, 15 KO’s) stopped Matthew Marsh (13-2, 1 KO’s) tonight to win the vacant Commonwealth title at the Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. Booth was dropped in the 5th round, but came back strong to get a stoppage in the 11th round. Marsh was badly cut over his right eye, which caused the eventual stoppage. However, Booth took over the fight in the later rounds and began to punish the tiring Marsh. In the 9th, Booth hurt Marsh with a hard shot to the head that slightly staggered him. Booth continued to inflict punishment on Marsh until the fight was eventually stopped in the 11th.

They were about 10 years old at the time Don mate though I do agree it would be one hell of a catchweight lol, it is on boxingnewsonline on Carl Frochs 60 second interview (theres quite alot of different boxers interviews on there its pretty cool to check out), i suppose there amateur clubs werent far apart.
With Froch as a world champ, Booth on te european chase and Adnan Amar rapidly improving Nottingham boxing is really on the up.

Blimey thats a bit of a weight difference, are you sure it was the same Jason Booth as there’s more than 3 stone and about nine inches height difference between those two?

Agree Booth’s a great little fighter, you’ve also got Froch so Nottingham is well and truly on the map now!

Yes i watched it last night, it was a decent little scrap! Felt sorry for Marsh on how it ended but could’ve gone either way if it went to points as Booth was catching up at the end!

Chinquanto, you are too ignorant for boxing in general, its goo tough domestic fights ike these that make fighters. Look at Craig Watson and John O’Donnells commonwealth scrap last year, or Tony Quigley and Tony Dodsons british title clash, both classics where all four fighters can hold their heads high.
Interesting Fact, Jason Booth and Carl Froch made their amateur debut against eachother in Nottingham, Froch won I think.

Chinquanto-how can a British and Commonwealth title fight, European title eliminator be meaningless?? stick with your mega money fights ya bum!

  • Anonymous says:

yes it does …i am a Jason Booth fan. He is clever, talented and great to watch….He has never been stopped and has been the driving force behind the Nottingham boxing scene for over a decade
