When is Adamek going to fight someone good?
By Chris Williams: I’ve been waiting for ages for Tomasz Adamek (39-1, 27 KO’s) to fight someone good, and it looks like I’m going to have to wait little longer with Adamek taking on Jason Estrada (16-2, 4 KO’s) on February 6th, at the Prudential Center, in Newark, New Jersey. Adamek, 32, moved up in weight from the cruiserweight division late last year with a 5th round TKO win over 41-year-old Andrew Golota in October 2009.
Adamek, as long as he doesn’t run out of gas, he should be able to beat Estrada without too many problems. Adamek’s goal is to land a fight against one or both of the Klitschko brothers. At 6’1” 222, Adamek is kind of on the small side for a heavyweight.
It’s scary to think what would happen to Adamek if he was to be put in the ring with either of the Klitschko brothers. I can’t see him landing a glove on either one of them, and he doesn’t have the hand speed or the one punch power needed to knock either of them out. At best, all I can see is Adamek losing by a lopsided decision, that is, if he doesn’t get knocked out by them.
However, Adamek is going to have to speed things up and start taking on some better heavyweights at a much quicker pace if he wants to land a fight against either of the Klitschko brothers before they turn 40. Adamek needs some solid wins over the likes of Odlanier Solis, David Tua, Chris Arreola, Denis Boytsov, Povetkin or Kevin Johnson before he lands a title shot against the Klitschko brothers.
Right now, with only a win over Golota to show for his heavyweight experience, Adamek is short on experience. Estrada, who can’t punch, isn’t what Adamek needs. The guy needs to step it up and take on some real punchers and some named fighters if he wants to get a title shot. At 32, Adamek doesn’t have a whole lot of time to slowly work his way into position to fight for a title because he’s aging.

hahaha you really think arreola is a “solid” heavyweight?! you gotta be kidding me, adamek is straight top tier compared to arreola.
I like Ademek, but this division sucks!!!! I kind of think Dawson exposed him a little.
He got ripped apart that fight!!
Matthew – Well said mate! I’ve always been a fan of Adamek and always will be. Why? Because the man always puts on one h*ll of a show. This writer is clearly a moron and just wanted to pick a lesser known fighter apart. These fickle boxing fans are a shame to the sport. Adamek will continue to turn heads in 2010.
POLSKA!!!
LOL, and hwo did evander holyfield fight in his first couple of heavyweight fights? did evander go straight for the jugular, or did he build it up step b step? he built it up step by step. adamek is handled by the same outfit as holyfield. adamek’s heavyweight debut was vs golota. holy’s was vs pinklon thomas, shot, messed up from drugs and coming off a savaging from a prime mike tyson…
adamek can build himself up, build his skills at the new weight, find his ideal fighting weight, and ready himself for whatever opportunity arises.
there are no TV dates for adamek. this is why since the banks fight there haven’t been world class opponents. at least he keeps busy, fighting 3x a year.
also, how about giving adamek credit for beating o’neil bell (1st undisputed cruiser champ since holy), steve cunningham (talented champ in his prime), paul briggs (brutal new zealander with real firepower and accuracy) & jon banks (massive cruiser, big puncher)? the article title makes it sound as though he’s never faced anyone world class.
This writer is an idiot. Wrong boxer to be picking on. It’s like this guy just found someone who is’nt talked about much.
Um, did you not hear that Adamek will fight Chris Arreola if he gets by Estrada. Give Adamek a break, he was fighting at 175 just a few years ago and now he’s nearly 220 taking on heavyweights. Adamek took on the best 175 in boxing (Chad Dawson) and the arguably the best cruiserweight in boxing (Steve Cunningham).
Estrada is a good boxer, he is better than old M. Barret.
