No word on Mayweather-Pacquiao mediation

By Eric Thomas: There is no word from Golden Boy Promotions, Floyd Mayweather, and Manny Pacquiao’s representatives after their meeting with mediator Daniel Weinstein, a retired judge, earlier Tuesday in Los Angeles to resolve the random drug testing issues that have bogged down the March 13th fight. World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum and Mayweather promotions have been given instructions not to say anything to the media about the mediation meeting, according to news from Yahoo sports.

The Mayweather and Pacquiao parties are stuck on the random blood testing for drugs, which Mayweather is insisting on to take place for the fight. Pacquiao has agreed to take three of the blood tests, one at the kickoff for the fight, another 30 days before the fight and a final one after the bout.

Pacquiao doesn’t want to take blood tests within 30 days of the fight because he feels that having blood taken from him during this time weakens him. Pacquiao and his team also aren’t happy that the blood testing is Mayweather’s idea, and not the norm for fights that take place in Nevada. Urine testing is what the Nevada Athletic Commission checks for boxing matches in their state.

it is really a boxing drama but if this fight didnt happen on march 13, Lawsuit of defamation continues.

I’m tired of all the school yard stuff. Pacman is the WBO welterweight champion. His belt is on the line. FMJ has nothing on the line then his “0″. Way too much money to be made to put a roadblock like this blood test in the contract. FMJ should have tried to get this signed as soon as possible without a bump. When FMJ retired there were no circus acts just good boxing matches.

time 1.05 pm wednesday january 6 2o10 most of you can blame manny but also floyd

  • manuelpervert says:

This is just another boxing drama

  • BNB says:

Floyd, “I am the bigger name in the USA. I am the draw. I have been on ‘Monday Night Raw’ which draws 6 Millions fans every Monday night. I have been on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ which drew over 15 Millions viewers every Monday an Tuesday while I was on the show. I got ATT national commercial.”

Floyd, ” I look for no-one. they look for me. I bring the Money.”

Top Rank just doesn’t get it. Floyd wont’ be dictated. He won’t be served to Pacman on a silver platter like Cotto was. How do you make a champion like Cotto fight at 145, for the lesser money. Cotto was sacrified to hype the Pacman even more.

Cotto drew as Manny fans as Pacman did.

No negotiation is gonna work if one fighter is not willing to fight and risk his “undefeated” status, not even for 50 million bucks.

  • FightGame says:

I’m not a Mayweather fan but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to demand random blood tests to make the effort to have the biggest boxing match in the last 30 years at least appear clean. Perhaps it would set a precedent in boxing and making the sport a leader in testing for PED’s. I think that is what Arum is afraid of…keep in mind how long this guy was sticking up for Margo-Cheater. This kind of testing might empty his stable.

  • BNB says:

The Pacman got muscles on his forearm, he had muscle within muscle.

  • Walker says:

To the comments that i read that Floyd had a hard time with Judah. U must be Floyd haters. He punished Judah to the point that Judah threw about 3 low blows in hopes of hurting Floyd or just get disqualified. Also someone said that Pacman is so mad and he going to KO floyd. Well i think that floyd would love to see him come in the ring mad and head hunting. Pac is already a figher and not a boxer which means if he throwing a lot of punches out of anger, he will get caught by something and laid to rest. Money by Decision!

creo gue floy mayweather tiene un poco de diareas mentales y ademas busca evadir como el diadlo en la crus a manny deja el miedo cabron para gue te coman el culo cobarde pelea y no pongas mas excusas negro cabron

  • yeah says:

bigtime) i am with you let both take steriods like that mayweather could stop crying lets see who haves the best steroids off the market and street

  • BoxingFansCanada says:

To Gio, Yeah I guess you have a good point regarding muscle mass and the few inches difference in height. For instance when Manny fought Dela Hoya, during the weigh in Manny looks so small compare to the 5’10 height of Dela Hoya, but once they we’re both in the ring and started boxing, you can hardly notice the difference. I guess it’s all about strenght and skills.Nways as what I mentioned before, and many boxing fans out there that I think will agree also, is Floyd will be Floyd as usual. He only fight opponents which he thinks 90% sure that he is the advantage fighter for the match. When is this guy going to change?! He knows the fans are fed up regarding he’s avoidance towards the top elite fighters, but he is Floyd and he doesn’t care period! Now back to the Pacman, isn’t it very vital for a fighter heading to a big fight to be mentally and Physically prepared?! Pacquio thinks he will be weak when blood is drawn from him if too close to a fight,he mentioned it many times before, even before this Pacquio-Mayweather proposed bout. There is no doubt Pacman is ready physically, but this is nothing if your not ready Mentally. This blood testing too close to the fight are distracting the Pacman mentally. I’m sure Floyds camp are well aware about this. If this proposed Mega fight will not happen, I believe UFC will eventually rule supreme in the fighting sports business and popularity.

  • bigtime says:

Let Mayweather & Pacman take steroids, let’s see who will on March 13. May the good PED wins LOL. In this case, there will be no more issue on random blood testing. LOL.

  • Chris says:

    Gio,
Are you stupid? Pac’s family’s future is already secured! He can even buy the houses on the entire block of your neighborhood…He’s not hiding something you moron…he’s willing to undergo bloodtest right after the fight.

  • BoxOut says:

FORGET THIS MEDIATION,it aint going to work. It just gives the boxing fans to have some kind of hope that this match will happen. Come on, everybody knows how stubborn Mayweather Jr and Co. are,it’s either their way or no way. They want random blood testing anytime during training, thats what they want, and they will stick to that demand regardless even if this is a Mega fight or not. The only reason it is not official yet that this negotiations is finish to no avail, is the gigantic Money involve. Mayweather needs this more than Manny. Without the large amount of money involve in this fight, the negotiations would have ended a month ago already. Mayweather wants to keep he’s undefeated record as much as possible, he has doubts of himself if he can really beat the smaller guy Pacquio. He just talks as usual about how its so simple for him to beat the Pacman, but it just all talk. He needs to show it to the world, but again, deep inside him he has doubts of beating Manny. So he makes this rediculous demands to avoid the Pacman and fight some no name boxer somewhere in the world, then beat that low class boxer and so he continue he’s talk around the world that he is really the best. Thats fine Floyd, all of this smear campaign doesn’t matter because the majority of boxing fans around the world are just so used to your B.S. and just have a good laugh about it.You avoided Mosley,Cotto, and Margarito, that was facts you cannot deny, regardless of your excuses. Now your next challenger is a much smaller guy..perhaps it’s time you Show it and Prove it to us!!!!!

  • NANING says:

I think Judge Weinstein, as usual, will get it done. The fight will proceed as scheduled on March 13, 2010. I did not cancel my flight and hotel reservations.

I think we will see Floyd Mayweather Jr. flat on his back, unconscious, ala Ricky Hatton, between Rounds 6 to 8. Pacquiao is seething mad. He had never been so insulted in his life, Not just him, but his beloved country, the Philippines and its people, insulted by the Mayweather clan. They should suffer, if not in court, then in the ring.

Mayweather will do well in the early rounds, with his usual defensive maneuver, that patented shoulder roll. But Pacquiao usually get his thing going by Round 6. And his tenacity, ferocity, and incredible rage over an insult that must be dealt with, will take over by Round 8.

We may see Mayweather taken out of the ring in a stretcher. I hope he would be okay, but that would not be a bad thing.

  • DANIEL says:

fraud jr had problems with judah it wasnt easy for him

  • dog says:

Leroy you don’t know boxing at all. Juda got punished

  • MBA says:

It leaves one to wonder if ever that fight will still happen considering the time left before Mar. 13…Floyd for sure is already in training while Manny is still recuperating from his last fight. So how fair is it now? Already, Floyd has the upperhand..his tactical move is working just fine for him…they simply want to keep Manny hanging in the air. Floyd’s really genius! They want to win even before the first punch is thrown…but if Manny doesn’t blink he will still earn his millions even without the fight…so do not compromise your stand! Go on with the lawsuit with or without the fight!

  • leroy says:

mayweather is going to borrow his father’s face if he fight manny, i saw his fight with zab judah and mayweather had a hardtime with south paw. he actually got knockdown his gloves touch the floor. but he was lucky that was not manny paquiao with him in the ring. judah got speed but not enough power like manny paquiao.

  • Pedro Penduko says:

wooo..dramatic! 24/7 should’ve started taping since the beginning… fight or no fight.

  • cris says:

well, there has been reports here in philippines that manny pac already informed some of his celebrity friends that his fight with floyd is on again. not surprising really, this fight is just being hyped by promoters, considering the short period of time to properly promote the fight (which doesn’t really need promoting of course, but more publicity the better!). as manny say … “you know…”

  • sweetpotato says:

I’m 100% positively sure that THIS fight will happen.

  • z says:

i agree olly im leaning towards no news is good news. if everything blew up and the negotiations failed arum would be commenting left and right about how terrible GBP is and that they are being completely unreasonable and both sides would be blaming eachother til they were blue in the face, they wouldnt be honoring any hush hush because what would be the point?

Im guessing the negotiations are wrapped up and the announcement will be made tomorrow that the fight is on or at worst both sides are still negotiating and will continue negotiating tomorrow.
