Mayweather may have to apologize and drop the random blood test demands if he wants negotiations to resume

By Eric Thomas: If Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants his negotiations with World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao to get back on schedule, Floyds might possibly need to issue a public apology and agree to drop the random blood testing demands for his March 13th fight with Pacquiao. Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, said he wants the random blood testing dropped and some kind of public apology from Mayweather, according to news from the Sports.inquirer.
If Mayweather drops his demand for the random blood tests and issues a public apology to Pacquiao this will likely be all that is needed to get the fight back in motion. However, if Mayweather gives in to all of these points, it would appear that he would be caving in on everything without Pacquiao’s team meeting him halfway. Would Mayweather be able to give on these issues? It would give him a shot at making between twenty five and forty million if he can somehow get past all this mess with Pacquiao.
Pacquiao could face WBA light middleweight champion Yuri Foreman next as an alternate opponent in March if the Mayweather talks fail to move forward.

i thought this has stalled already. pacquiao already filed a lawsuit against Mayweathers thru big shot lawyer Daniel Petrocelli.
Floyd Jr., Sr., and his Uncle should be busy getting a better lawyer now than negotiating with the fight. Pacman is dead serious on this coz he is vying to be a congressman soon.
First the final contract for the Marquez fight was for 147. Mayweather may have payed him some money to not fight at a catch-weight but fight at a real division. So be it! If Floyd weighed over he would have lost 10% of his purse to Nevada in addition to anything he paid Marquez. And Manny can’t move up to 154? Thats why he’s trying to fight Yuri at 154? Thats just another excuse to get out of this fight for Manny. He can’t fight at 154- against floyd. he cant give blood inside of 30 days of the fight-against floyd. Yet when its a different opponent these aren’t even raised.

If I will be the mediator of this conflict:
My suggestions:
1. Manny must do the random blod testing according to Floyd’s plan. Mayweather’s camp want to prove the speculation so Manny must do it.
2. Floyd will only get 40% share of the pie. He is not the champion.

Mayweather time and time again has said his “legacy doesn’t pay the bills”. I am pretty sure 40+ mil would pay more than just the “bills”. Sort it out Mayweather stop ducking and looking for excuses not to fight the legit P4P Pac. I’d rather Mayweather didn’t take this fight because the sport of boxing needs a charismatic guy like Mayweather, after fighting Pac and losing his ’0′ he will be destroyed as a fighter. He may have to look to fight another lighter guy, hmm maybe a John Murray!
There is no side to this argument. Manny should accept random full screenings of blood and urine to the level that can discover if an athlete is on any HGH, PEDs etc. Floyd had no class in how he brought the debate about. But bring it up he did and its been spoken about for a while on many of these forums.
Knowing roughly when tests are coming negates the randomness.

Lets put things straight… manny never rejected any drug test or is he afraid of needles(he has tattoos all over his body), this is a misconception and misleads ignorant boxing fans, for the record manny subjected himself to NASC random drug test right after this drug test issue exploded, second manny agreed to a three random blood testing… 1st before the fights media conference, 2nd 30 days prior to the fight and 3rd right after fight night (these tests cannot escape pacman if ever he is using PED) eventhough these are not required by the NASC, manny’s camp was so humble that it offered these terms to mayweather’ camp even the latter is not a champion, however floyd was so hardheaded he insists on his own terms and even humiliates pacman over unwarranted media hype, pacman is a true sportsman and has never been found positive in using performance enhancing drugs in all his fights, he live a clean life all his boxing career (unlike the mayweathers who had been invovled in doping issues esp mayweather sr.) now whats the fuzz? it only brings us to reason… floyd is afraid of pacman he is chickening out and is using all reasons for a great escape!

An honest pac fan- can you produce a link thats credible that says what an unknown Pacquiao fan stated on your link? The link is to a site called “Pacland” and the info is by an unknown author. Who do you think has the more access or the has the easiest of way to watch the fight held in America, the Puerto Ricans? or the Mexicans? LOL. Geographically??? LOL and besides you’d probably be surprise how many of the filipinos that I know actually watched the Mayweather fight to support Marquez. So don’t be saying he doesn’t have a draw. james…..you didn’t mention that on your previous post. you specifically says the % of weight gain. i don’t know if you remember their weight at fight night. you started the weight category(ei..135(lightweight) but it ends up at their actual weight at the weigh-in. you should do it by just category. like from lightweight(135)-middleweight(160)

Just because he is one of the last great Mexican out doesn’t mean he is 100% completely embraced by the Mexican people. Here is a quick rundown.
1. Barrera beat Prince Naseem(who everybody hated.)
2. Morales beat Junior Jones(a guy who was 35-0 against Mexican fighters at the time.)
3. Chavez was just beating everyone’s ass.
4. Even Duran had is moment when he beat Sugar Ray.
What are Marquez’s moments. He had them against Pacman and Floyd, and came up short both times. These would put him over in a big way. They respect him but they wouldn’t maker the trip from the Motherland to see him fight. I rest my case.

Let’s clear this up as well, It was Mayweather who asked for a 154lb fight so that automatically they are requlated to use 10 oz. gloves. Ask yourselves why does he want the fight at 154???? Both they’re fights were at Welter Weight. Because Manny said no to that weight, ofcourse they fight at welter and automatically an 8 oz. glove is used. And why Manny asks for 10m per pound? DUH! Because Mayweather cheated the last time! Wouldn’t you do the same if you knew that the other fighter has a history of cheating? Manny has no history of cheating non what so ever. Only the Mayweathers are trying to descredit him. And if you look around on one of Mayweather Sr’s interview he even said that Mayweather will beat Pacman easy, on something or not. Read my post again. I just said, I know Marquez DIDN’T enjoy the support that Morales and Barrera did. But when he was the only one left out of them 3 (when Chavez Jr wasn’t really even a name yet and I don’t even think his a name still upto now) who is left for the Mexicans. Just basic logic my friend. If you have 3 great fighters one will always miss out but when they were all gone, Marquez was the only one left.
Why should Mayweather agree to an unheard of $10 million per pound penalty? No one else ever has. Why did he? Because he wants this fight. Why won’t Manny take random blood tests? Either he’s on PEDs or he’s scared to fight Floyd. Manny made up a rule and all Floyd wants to know is that his opponent isn’t on PEDs. I really don’t think Manny is on PEDs but I do think he is scared to death of fighting Floyd. He doesn’t want to be pushed around by Mayweather is his latest excuse. If the mediator calls for any sort of random blood tests this fight won’t happen because Manny will never agreee to random blood tests. I believe Mayweather will agree to anything the mediator calls for; I really think Mayweather thought Manny would agree to random blood tests instead of drawing a cloud of suspicion over himself. Manny has made most think his victories are as tainted as Barry Bond’s homeruns. And again, call off the $10 million penalty if you want to go by the rules of most fights like you and your fans claim… which is only after your excuses of being afraid of tattoes and being suspicious of giving blood within 30 days of a fight were proven to be blatant lies. The mediator should recommend a blood test after the press conference and two random blood tests with a cutoff date of 14 days before the fight. Mayweather would accept it and if Manny is willing to fight Floyd without the help of PEDs then he would too.

I don’t how much boxing you have watched over the years or if you just stick to Manny’s fights. But if you think Marquez is as loved by the Mexican people as say Chavez, Barrera, or Morales then you are smoking something. If Marquez had beat Floyd or at least come close then it would have done wonders for his rep. Too bad though. To tell you the truth if Marquez had fought with his head and stop trying to bang with Manny and stayed on his damn feet, then he would have won both fights with Manny. And then he would be as embraced as those fighters I already mentioned. But what’s done is done.
Yes Mayweather can apologize and change the blood testing back to the three agreed dates when negotiations began (possibly changing the 2nd blood testing date to 24 days before the bout).
However, people are not going to forget that Pacquiao refused random blood testing. I don’t agree in the way the random blood testing was introduced in this bout, but random testing for drugs is used in the majority of sports around the world, and no doubt has the most success against drug cheats.
Taking a positive from this situation, drug testing in boxing will hopefully be tightened up following all this.
Both camps are in the wrong, just expecting Mayweather to apologize doesn’t make everything all right. Maybe “die-hard” Pacquiao fans can turn a blind eye to his refusal of random drug testing, but a lot of boxing fans won’t. Even a few experts have spoken out about the situation.

Exactly the point…. Considering all these reasons Pacquiao fight still made the amount it did because he is a big draw. Exactly the same reason why Mayweather can’t use any excuse of Marquez not being a draw.
If the challengers fight made more than mine did HELL YEAH. I would give in. If he wins this fight then Pacman could easily be the top dog and top money maker without a doubt. I would advise everybody on this forum to take a deep breath. The fight will be made and let the best man win. Did you put into account the state of the economy at the time of the fights? And did you put into account that most of this PPV count is in America? Both Cotto and Pacquiao aren’t Americans, Mayweather is, and he still got outsold? Don’t be rediculous about Marquez not being a draw because Pacquaio and marquez did very good numbers when they fought (good for that weight class anyway). One of the biggest reasons that Dela Hoya Pacquiao didn’t do as good as Mayweather’s was because nobody thought Pacman had any chance against Dela Hoya. Did you think he had a chance? That’s right and you probably didn’t order the PPV because of that too. Just ask yourself this, if you were the champion and you had the belt, would you give 50/50 to your challenger?

Obviously you didn’t read what I just wrote so I will clarify again. Cotto is a proven draw and Marquez isn’t. If you add up the revenue of the 2 Marquez/Pacman fights it’s still less than the 1 Marquez/Mayweather fight. Some how I new you would bring that up. And yet you don’t see the facts. All there fights with common opponents came out with Floyd’s fights making more money. Look that up. And quit crying about your country. People hate the U.S. But will come running to us to fix their problems. It is what it is.

I will read the information in the link you provided (thank you) and I may sympathize to your hurt feelings as a Filipino. I have some good Filipino friends and I believe you may underestimate your country. I love the food and I don’t believe Manny is a juicer until proven otherwise. The problem is the cloud of suspicion he is covered with due to his resistance in doing a simple random blood test that his opponent will be subject to with a reasonable cut off date.

Look it up.. Last time I remember Pacquiao Cotto beat Mayweather Marquez’s PPV sales. Mayweather Marquez even had to give away 1000 free tickets to the live event and it still wasn’t sold out. They even had more time to sell tickets because of the delay of the fight caused by the rib injury that Mayweather had. So yeah look it up again.

Figure what out? Maybe it is 50/50 because the fights Floyd is involved in make more money then Manny’s. Look it up. Marquez, Hatton, and Oscar. Who’s fights made the most money. Floyd’s or Manny’s. The impasse in the negotiations is the cut off date. Pacquiao doesn’t want want random tests but scheduled ones. And if you stop taking EPOs 3 days before the fight the test will be ineffective because the EPO’s presence in the system evaporates in 24-48 hours.

I have to apologize to all my fans, you see I am a cheat and have been using PEDs for a long time now, why do you think i gave 4 different excuses for not taking a blood test? (scared of needles, superstitious, tests drain me and PBF is trying to smear). Why do people think that Floyd’s request of random think he is trying run boxing? Manny has request like Floyd.
1. Manny wanted catchweight/Floyd wanted 154.
Fight is at 147.
2. Manny wanted 8 oz. gloves/Floyd wanted 10 oz.
8 oz gloves are gonna be used.
3. Manny wanted 10 million per pound stipulation.
Floyd said ok.
4. Floyd wants them both to submit to random drug test while in training.
Manny wants 3 scheduled test done.
Floyd’s team knows the NSAC don’t do blood test so of course they want someone else to do it. Plus if the NSAC chose then they won’t because they would have to change their whole rulebook and that can’t be done overnight.
Plus if Pacman is so willing to abide by the NSAC rules if they did decide to do random blood test, then why whine about it now?
I knew it,floyd mouth was going be a problem for this fight,cotto was a cool dude he kelp he mouth shut and only in few choice words,manny like him,and respect him,after that,comes this big mouth city boy one after another ,pac is damn mad. They may drop their demand for random drug testing but I don’t think they will issue any public apology…that being the case…the fight should go on in court and in the ring..both of them will have their money…but the other stands to gain more while the other loses his regardless of the result in the ring!

I don’t see it going down like this at all. If they do apologize it would be to get he fight because Manny is and his team are very emotional about this. The drug testing will still be asked for but they will agree on a cut off. Possibly 5 to 10 days before the fight. This is reasonably. Not doing the test at all is “not” reasonable. Not even if you are a Pacman fan. You should want him to some what comply because if he doesn’t and wins. The win is tainted. There will be excuses and I want no excuses for either fight on why they couldn’t win. I want no public excuses. The question will always be there like in (Baseball) Mark Macquire’s case if he doesn’t comply in some manner. 30 days before is not complying at all. Shane Mosley “tricked the commission urine test guys” and ODLH has a loss on his record because of it. I don’t feel any fighter should have that advantage. Especially, not in a fight for all the marbles like this one.

I’m not sure if Floyd is willing to give a public apology and remove the demand of blood testing?! This guy’s ego is so huge he thinks he owns boxing! He even mentioned it before, that without him boxing is dead.Again,blood testing before the fight is not a normal practice in boxing for so many years. Mayweather knows this, he is not stupid. However, he is stupid enough to go againts the Boxing commisions and all this comments regarding PED on Pacquio.The only leverage that Mayweather will be force to do this apology and the blood testing demands,is of course Money, lots and lots of Money!Their projecting $40-$50 million each for both fighters. What is the adopted “great white hype” afraid of? All these so called journalists who keep parotting what the Pacqiauo camp need to do is interview experts familiar with Olympic style testing or at least blood testing and tell us if it has a physical effect.
Why is Pacman so afraid of blood tests? So far the excuses he has given have been dropping like flies. First he claimed it is against his traditions as a filipino. Then they said they want NFL or NBA style testing. When they found out those might include random blood testing too, they switched to saying they will not accept any testing except that sanctioned by the Nevada Athletic comission. When the commission said they were willing to allow blood testing if both camps agreed to the fight the Pacman camp called it off.
Its about time boxing journalists put aside their hatred for Mayweather and started asking some real questions. Boxing News has not interviewed any blood doping experts or any USADA experts on the veracity of Pacman’s claims. We should at least get athletes such us Phelps, Bolt, Lance Armstrong interviewed and asked if the tests ever affected their perfomance.

From antonio barrera hand wraps (watching barrera getting hand wrapped) up to ricky hatton (telling media “if hatton goes toe to toe with pacman, he’ll get knock out”) that’s what freddy wants, keeping ricky fight the way he’s used to fight.
