Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko may fight in the future – News

By Eric Thomas: According to an article from Live Fight, IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 47 KO’s) says that he and his brother, World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s) could fight in the future. “We are going to talk to our mother again because we know how much interest such a fight would create and it would mean that one of us would be the supreme heavyweight champion,” Wladimir said.

There had been hope that one of the Klitschko brothers would get a big money fight with World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye in 2010. However, that picture is now murky, because Haye has cooled his interest in fighting one of the Klitschko brothers since capturing the title. There are some people who feel that Haye will instead opt to hold onto his title as long as he can by fighting safer opponents than the Klitschko brothers. At 38, Vitali can’t afford to wait around for a big money fight against Haye.

Other than the British heavyweight, the only other option for a big money fight for the Klitschko brothers is with each other. The brothers previously promised their mother that they would never fight each other. However, with Vitali not having much time left with his career, it’s not a bad idea for them to bring this issue up with their mother again.

There isn’t another heavyweight on the horizon that the Klitschko brothers can fight that would being in the kind of money that they would get fighting each other. Perhaps not even the unproven, little known David Haye, would bring in nearly the same kind of money that the Klitschko brothers could receive by stepping in the ring and fighting.

“Of course she [the mother of the Klitschko brothers] would not be so happy and if we did fight, I would be very worried about the health of my brother, because it would be very bloody and very bad,” Wladimir said. “We are very competitive and it would be for real. There be not fix.”

This fight makes the most sense for the Klitschko brothers. There really isn’t anyone for them to fight that would make the kind of money they would get in a fight with each other. Haye isn’t well known in the United States, and the way that he fought against Nikolay Valuev in winning the WBA title, it doesn’t look like Haye will be able to stay champion long against the top contenders in the division. There isn’t another fighter talented and with the name value for the Klitschko brothers to fight that will give them them the kind of payday they’ve both been seeking during their pro careers.

It is obvious that none of you are fighters. When I fight I feel that competitive urge to win, and I would feel disrespected if my opponent were to go light on me. I’ve fought, and KO’d, my brother. It was my best fight since he was undefeated at the time. I don’t think any true fighter would feel badly about fighting their brother, only a money fighter would. The brothers are not money fighters…

don’t fight, just save your strenght and your dollars cause Terminator is back to kick some and collect some dollars

  • Doctor says:

    No they wont!!

  • Ancient_Silence says:

Can this news be trusted? If so i have to say that although this fight would be super epic i do think it should not happen. Fighting ones brother well, it feels like a bit of a moral dilemma. Could you step in the ring knowing you are a super fit boxer to fight your brother who is also a super fit boxer? What happens if one of the two get seriously hurt?
What a cool rumor but this should not happen it crosses some lines that shouldn’t be crossed.

  • Eagor says:

I agree with all of your comments , what can I add .In my opinion good brothers never fight , doesn’t matter money and glory and million other things…………..

  • M says:

Boxing is already loosing out to things like MMA for this site to even post news like this. I wouldn’t want to see two brothers fight – it changes the rules and with it takes away what boxing stands unique for. It wouldn’t do boxing’s perception in the public’s image any good, apart from making money.

  • deebee says:

The Klitscho’s are bums and will both get KTFO by Haye.

  • David says:

i hope they dont fight i like how there a team

  • Big easy says:

Oh No!!! say it aint so, i blame the boxing media for making the Klitchko brothers want to fight each other. These fight is morally wrong, and it should not happen. The world will be cheering when two brothers try to destroy each other in the ring, all because of Big Dollars.

  • Davey Boy says:

    Not goin’to happen.
Hey they are educated, doctors(speak four languages.
**They are not ear bitters, convicted felons
**they do not break a contract with a bogus excuse of a sore back!!!!!!!!!
The Klitchko bro’s are good rep’s for boxing.
They have brought RESPECT back to the sport.
No they won’t fight each other.
    ***There Not Dogs!

All this author did was take an old Wlad quote, which was originally made extremely tongue-and-cheek, and let his imagination run.
    “Ask their mom again?”
Not only is the headline BS, the notion of the 2 brothers even realistically entertaining fighting one another is just plain dumb.
It ain’t happening, so just forget it.

if they were 2 american or british brothers fighting each other you could expect them to go easy on each other, but ukranians fight for fun at every opertunity and walk away laughing after.i would think they would fight to their best abilities

  • dj says:

To give in my 2 cents I agree with most of you guys. I can hardly imagine fighting my own brother, but Klitschko’s have always stood by each others side in every fight. It wouldn’t be right and it would be for real, so I really don’t understand pushing this idea forward, except for some people with no ethics to get big bucks. I hope their mother doesn’t give in, but I don’t trust this information in the first place.

  • AnthonyW says:

This bout would make a lot of money, but the biggest question would be…Would they just be doing it for the money? (take it easy on eachother) or, Would they honestly be looking to find out who would win?
If this bout takes place in the future, I feel sorry for there mother. Watching one son fight is bad enough, imagine your two sons fighting eachother.

  • Rob says:

No matter how competitive they both are, it still won’t be all out qhatever Vitali says.
I’ve seen it with my own brothers… we hurt eachother, there have even been knockouts, but still we all hold back.
It’s just not the same, if your opponent is hurt you finish him, if your brother is that opponent you don’t finish but worry about him.

It’s clearly the best to have one supreme champion, just like in the old days, but the winner of that bout will always have the questionmark; Was he really better than his brother?

So if the fight really comes to play… Wladimir will win bij UD, Vitali retires. But if they would really go all out, Vitali wins by KO.

  • marvin says:

if they (promised) there mother that would not fight than they should keep there promise to her.i mean no fight fans or media will make me brake thar promise to my mother
unlike bernard hopkins did to his mother on her death bed
ask him to not fight over 40 and he promised.than as soon as a big money pay came his way he forgot all about that promise than said i think she would not care if i fought a few more years.she won`t be mad.thats crazy.that tells you what kind of person he is.so they should keep there promise to her.even though they grown men a promise is a promise and should be kept when it comes to (mom).thank you.

  • Ukansodoff says:

I reckon both are guna retire at the same time and this fight would only happen if 1 mother agreed to it and 2 if they still hold the same world titles.

I dont think id wana see it happen though. 2 brothers full of love for eachother, it wouldnt be right. And to be honest we all know Vitalis been the best of the 2.

  • Paul Vereyes says:

If they both knocked each other out at the same time
    who would be Heavyweight Champion?

  • brettchko says:

OH NOOOOO! BUT YES THIS WILL BE THE GREATEST HW FIGHT OF ALL TIME!!!!!!! WITH WLAD WINNING ON PIONTS IF IT WOULDA HAP. 5 YEARS AGO THEN IT WOULDA BEEN DIFFERENT
