Will The Real World Champ Step Forward, Frank Warren

khan4334By Charles Barrett: 74 seconds was all it took for Amir Khan to send Dmitriy Sialita back to New York

Probably never to be heard of again

I didn’t for one second think Sialita had the tools to dethrone Khan but equally I didn’t foresee quite such an overwhelming victory.

It reminded me of watching one of those nature programs, you know the one where the baby seal takes it first paddle into the big wide ocean and straight away gets eaten by a shark.

Amir did what he had to do and well done, but I think the real star of the show is the silent man in the grey suit, standing in the ring before every fight with a knowing smile.

Frank Warren has done a brilliant job with Khan, apart from the Prescott hiccup, he has steered the Olympic silver medalist to a world title, Choosing to bypass the British & European titles because he realized the were to many potential banana skins for Khan to slip on.

Instead rebuilding his man with a faded but super star name (Barrera) to get people back on board and talking, then matching him with a competent but relatively safe title shot.

And of course the icing on the cake bringing Freddie Roach on board.

At 22 yrs old Khan is a real talent blessed with blinding hand speed and great movement

He’s proved he has a fighter’s heart, getting up from knockdowns, and he’s still improving.

Questions will continue to be asked about his chin and I’m sure we will find out in the coming years if Prescott was just a blip, but lets not forget the real power behind the man, the master mover the master tactician, the real world champion Frank Warren.

Khan did what he needed to do, he knocked out the guy in front of him and he did it with both speed and power,
I do however think there is little doubt that Salita is a vastly overated fighter, how he could be ranked #1 contender is a mystery to me and many others but you cannot blame Khan for that,

I’am unprepared to say Khan is the next big thing but neither is he a bum, Eventually he will have to fight a true top ten fighter and then we will see, Until then i will reserve judgement.

I hope the rumors of HBO putting on a light welter tournement are true. There will be some great matcg ups. Khan was terrific last night but Salita was horrific. I think he would KO the hard punching but easy to hit Madiana and Khans big test would be against Bradley.
And Ricky Hatton would be KO’d quickly by all 3 of those fighters.

  • ME1 says:

your a wasteman charles barrett, the real champ is khan and hes stepping up his game 4 real !!

maybe you should step down from writing on this site because your coming across as delusional and jealous or even both. lol

  • John,e says:

I said Khan would be to fast and powerful for Sialita, but for all you lot who keep on he’s only 22 so what?he’s multi millionaire and has been handle with kid gloves so far, people will not keep paying to watch the patsy he fought so far, lets see him with the best fighters out there and then we’ll see if he’s the KING or the CON.

Shabaz has got a hard on! Calm down son all he did was beat a guy who wasnt even in kotelniks league. And presscott might be rubbish as u say, but all that shows it that any rubbish fighter with a decent bit of power can knock amir khan into the middle of next week. When hes fought someone decent u can come back and crow

  • Muzza says:

Credit to Amir Khan hes come on leaps and bounds under Roach and last night he showed an increase in power which is fantastic for him. The sky is the limit for him as regards talent the only thing thats a worry is his chin. Hopefully Roach can get his defence water tight and he can really go on to great things. Well done Amir Khan.

aled 12months ago khan was hattons friend saying there was to much respect there up tp pac hatton do know who willwin b a good fight blah blah the clock moves 12 months on hatton lost in 12 months khan rekons he is best buddies with pac wouldnt be seen dead with fatton and ho yeah callin his fat unfit the person 12months ago he had to much respect for and wanted to emulate fatton oh yeah thats right the disrepectful arrogant little s h i t and if you watch pac sparring with khan pac is hardly trying let a lone looking for his chin and also khan is pacmans all round dogs body how dare you imply pac is khans sparring partner

  • Aled says:

Salita(in other language means talk or speak) D Salita talks so much against the weakness of Amir Khan’s chin but did he got it? What he got was a very quick knocked out from Amir’s very powerful punches. As KAM says: “Amir Khan is for real and here to stay for along time.” He has a good sparring partner, the PACMAN, who makes a history in boxing. Amir, please always maintain also your humility, humbleness and simplicity as Manny Pacquiao did.

true with the maidana bit but i think he has no choice. however, if look at the fight between ortiz and maidana ortiz was winning in the middle rounds it was only him getting caught a few time and then the blood started pouring he gave up like a girl.
although i would like to see him fight hatton next year possibly hattons come back fight i know for a fact the whole of britain would come to a stanstill if tht fight takes place.

  • anon says:

the thing i dont get is people are saying he needs to fight bigger fighters right now dont forget hes only 22 he may be on par with the best in terms of speed but he hasnt got experience he should fight devon alexander and victor ortiz coz they are the same age.

i think his next mandatory challenger is maidana, i think he might lose that because 1. he may get over confident the way he beat salita and 2. maidana remember is a knock out artist. i would say its too early for him to fight the likes of maidana yet

  • KAM says:

AMIR KHAN IS FOR REAL AND HERE TO STAY FOR A LONG TIME SO GET USED TO IT.

  • KAM says:

Respect to khan and mitchell they showed that the uk can produce some of the best boxers in the world. And all u khan haters shame on you.

  • rIK says:

Khan is not the real deal!!!

  • milosands says:

I think Khan is a top drawer fighter now. He is still only 22 but he seems like someone who can go through the divisions. He has the speed and power to trouble everyone. Should be an interesting journey.

I actually felt sorry for Sailita, to train for so long and to be undefeated… then BANG – 10 seconds into a title fight and its all over. Sad really.

  • Mr T says:

well done khan, predictible fight… My toe nails harder than that sialita..

  • Andrew Evans says:

Amir Khan shut a lot of people up last night. He will have more downs but he will come back from them again and become a great star and you know it.

  • Kris says:

Khan is the real deal. If he rematches Prescott, it’s going to be a one-sided beatdown.

He needs to fight Maidana (the interim title holder) next. I think Khan wins that fight with ease.
