Shane Mosley hoping for a great 2010

By Peter Wells: One of the world’s greatest fighters at present, World Boxing Association welterweight champion ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley has very high hopes of a great 2010. Despite getting the worlds attention early this January by stopping Antonio Margarito after Margarito stopped unbeaten Cotto. Unfortunately things didn’t go according to plan, 2009 turned into a year of being avoided, not fighting at all for the rest of the year, despite his pleas.
Shane is looking to excel this year, and get the fights he wants, mainly the winner of Pacquiao-Mayweather if the fight is still on, and if it isn’t then he has the chance to get his glory early. One thing that is getting to me is Bob Arum getting in touch with Paulie Malignaggi to replace Mayweather. Malignaggi! He’s being linked to Amir Khan, what’s the point. Bob knows full well that Mosley is right there, maybe he doesn’t get along with Golden Boy, but Bob we don’t care just get the fight on. If the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao doesn’t go ahead, which at the moment it looks like it could be back on, then if either fighting doesn’t ask Mosley for a fight I will lose a lot of respect for Manny and Floyd. Manny knows he needs to fight a proper Welterweight at the right weight, and if he fights Floyd then fine, but he must take on Shane afterwards. Same goes for Floyd, he has a lot of criticism and if he beats Pacquiao he must fight Mosley.
Mosley is hoping to get one or both fighters this year, but maybe it could be another bad year for Shane, despite his other options. Unfortunately the likes of Joshua Clottey and Carlos Quintana just don’t get you anywhere with your legacy, just shows you’ve got the guts to fight all the fighters in your division. Miguel Cotto would be a great option while he’s waiting, but if a fight against Manny or Mayweather comes up Shane won’t give it a second thought.
All I’m trying to say here is that Mosley deserves his chance now, he can and will prove to everyone he is the best fighter in the world. He should carry on and then he can take on those other contenders, and have a rematch with Miguel Cotto. Unfortunately he will never get the chance to get revenge on Vernon Forrest, god bless his soul, and Winky Wright wouldn’t be much of a fight really. If we look at it, we could be in for a great 2010, and it could be the best year of Mosley’s career, let’s hope so.

I honestly believe Sugar Shane should at the very least have been given a draw against Cotto in NYC.
one thing id like to say,manny is willing to give urine sample everyday.manny is willing to give blood right after the fight in his dressing room.my question is why mayweather camp didnt like that way.if manny using any drugs,that drugs it wont vanish in his blood after the fight.my conclusion is flod jr.he really scared manny.he tried fine a way that fight wont happen,because he in his mind manny will kill him.mayweather idiot and coward,why he choose jmm instead of mosley,cotto,quitana berto.he always played a safety first,he is a cheater.
mayweather beat oscar at 154 which was oscars best, mayweather was also the first one to beat and KO hatton, manny did beat cotto after he was already shot from a savage beatin by margarito with suspect gloves, oh and he made cotto agree to a catchweight, oh and he pac got his choice of gloves and a stiff penalty for coming in over the catchweight and instant DQ for low blow and the belt was on the line at a catchweight. wow manny sure can beat the bigger guys (when he has all the advantages). oh yeah and manny ducked mosley even when mosley agreed to come down to 143 or 141 to fight pac and put his belt on the line. wow some p4p champ.

Little Manny made oscar quit, Floyd, barely beat oscar. Little Manny, took apart hatton in 2, Floyd, ko’d hatton I believe in 10. Then manny faced the very tough cotto, who beat mosley, and many say floyd avoided.cotto..now manny might face mosley..wow! Are they tryin’ to wear-out manny? Lbflb Manny Pacquiao, is the greatest warrior of them all..he may be small, to me he stands 10 feet tall.

they can’t stop mosley fighting pacquiao because there is no fighter around pacquiaos divisions whos got a better chance of beating him than mosley.
Pacquiao vs Mosley will be one of the greatest fight. Can also be a fight of the year candidate. I would love to see these 2 warriors clash. If Mayweather vs Pacquiao will go on as expected, 2010 will be one of the best years of boxing ever.
Mosley can hope for a great year, Shane is an A class fighter and a very good replacement for floyd to fight pac. They’re on the same level and Manny is always fighting the best, but he should beat Berto first.
Golden Boy says they would not allow any fighter from their promotion to fight the pacman.
Pacman retired Oscar DLH, floyd is scared, Mosley is the only one left of the pride of Golden Boy. So why risk him even if he wants to. Golden boy promotion is losing is shiny years ahead.
Mosley is a good fighter and I would love to see him and Mayweather fight, but Mayweather always tried to fight Shane, when Mosley was on top and Shane never accepted the fight.. Mayweather on Top now and I just think Floyd is just getting him back for all those years of avoiding him…

If Shane would have beaten Margarito b4 Margarito beat Cotto, no1 would have even dared say he was the best in the world. It just shows you that the division revolves around Cotto, you americans just don’t want 2 admit it. Shane beat a cheater that fought clean & got destroyed. I know Margarito cheated against Cotto. & head 2 head Cotto beat Shane……

Mayweather has been avoiding Mosley but this is not true with Manny’ case. Pacquaio is very new in the division so a good manager would not let him fight an excellent and dangerous welterweight like Mosley a few months ago. They had to test the water first. It was not “avoiding”. Cotto was chosen for a good reason. Now. maybe now is a good timing for Manny to fight Mosley or after the Mayweather match (if it happens). I agree, Mosley deserves a good match. This May/scareweather guy should face him already. How can Pretty Boy claim to be the greatest when he cannot even face a 38 year old like Mosley? This too many Belts in one division is B.S.!
