Ricky Hatton vs.Oscar De La Hoya?

By Derrick P. Villanueva: Would be a perfect match, don’t you think? Two boxing legends with massive fan bases clashing one final time in their careers to relive their “Glory Days.” Why is it perfect? 1.) The money involved in such a fight would decisively send both fighters into retirement with fat pensions. 2.) Hatton and De La Hoya are both past their prime, making for a well-matched classic bout of Boxer vs. Brawler. 3.) The interest from both fighter’s fan bases as well as boxing fans in general would be massive and the fight would be easy to market. (Imagine De La Hoya trash talking in 24/7.) 4.) Both fighters can knock each other out.
Reports are abounding recently of Ricky Hatton looking for one last war. I think a fight with De La Hoya would go a long way in satisfying him and boxing fans alike. The bout should be held at a “catchweight” of 149-151 lbs. Both fighters in their present state would struggle to get down to this weight but nobody would hold a considerable advantage over the other. They would have to use 10oz. gloves to protect each other from further brain damage as they’ve suffered enough throughout their long careers.
Unlike the likes of Roy Jones Jr. and the late Arturo Gatti, these two are still capable of putting up an exciting fight of classic proportions. I don’t know about you but I’d rather go out in a bang than a whimper.

That is a stupid idea. DLH looked like a tired old man for his last couple of fights. Mayweather made him look silly. So did Manny. He’s all done. Hatton is all done too. He got stomped by Manny too. Lights out! You don’t come back at that age from a KO like that.
I think Hatton already went out with a bang when he got KTFO by Pacman…
Are the people saying these two fighters are washed up also the same people saying they weren’t when Manny fought them?
I think that oscar should stay retired. He is a great promoter but way out of his prime. I think that hatton should come back to fight some lesser opponants first to get his timimg back he only lost twice and he is only 31 years old he should go back to fight again he is a boxer that’s his trade.who cares about the losses if ur a fan u wanna see ur fighter fight again! If that isn’t the case than fighters wouldn’t have to fight and boxing wouldn’t be boxing

Hatton is not a legend. He was 43-0 before fighting Mayweather and 45-1 before fighting Pacquiao but he never really fought anybody great. Kostya Tszyu and Jose Luis Castillo (both beyond their prime) was his biggest fight before Pacquiao and Mayweather. Other than that, nobody else

I certainly do not see the appeal with this fight.
I would watch it, It would De La Hoya back in the game and I would like to see him fight someone like Williams or Martinez
What a way for both to end their Careers, it has sell out written all over it.Boxing fans would enjoy the entertainment factor and know that in the real world neither are competative at world level anymore, enjoy the moment i say.
All of the above being said; how about a Macho Camacho vs Ricardo Mayorga “This is It” farewell?
At 47 he can still make History. Apparently he has challenged both Fernanado Vargas and Ricardo Mayorga making those two fights his Last Hoorahs and a farewell to the Sport of Boxing. Hector Macho Camacho is a Living Legend in the Sport of Boxing. His having blown almost all of it away does not take away his accomplishments inside the Ring.
A Dela Hoya vs. Camacho rematch would also be interesting; don’t you think? My opinion is that a Camacho vs. Dela Hoya match up would be more interesting than a Hatton vs. Dela Hoya match up.
Vargas is way out of shape – but Mayorga is out still out there! That would make for a fight to see…

I’m not a hatton hater but you should know Hatton aint a legend esp not near De La Hoya’s standard. If Hatton comes back he should fight JMMarquez or Amir Khan but that’s it.
Would love to see these two have it out. A great way to end two amazing carrers. Everyone and his dog would watch it. Win lose or draw it makes no odds as both fighters are legends already!!!!!
