Prediction: Expect Khan to vacate his title any day soon

By Liam Santiago: The clock is ticking. World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan does not have a great deal of time to hang about, before he is forced to fight WBA interim light welterweight title holder Marcos Maidana. According to sources, the winner of Salita vs Khan, which is Khan, has only 90 days to fight Maidana, or be stripped off the title. Will Khan fight Maidana? I very much doubt it. Maidana hits about as hard as Klitschko, so this fight will not happen.
I don’t care if Khan vacates to fight Tim Bradley or The Incredible Hulk. He should fight Maidana. That is what being a champion is all about. Standing your ground and keeping your title. What sort of a champion would Khan be if he vacated after two fights? Also, if he feels the need to vacate, why not vacate before the Salita fight, instead of giving the fans a fight they did not want to see.
Personally, I feel Bradley has way too much for Khan and it would be an unwise move for the Bolton man to make. I do not expect him to fight Bradley one bit, but there have been rumours. I expect him to fight someone like Zab Judah, Paul Malignaggi or Juan Diaz. Bradley is better than Khan with speed, power, footwork and boxing ability. Khan’s weak chin would not be the deciding factor in this fight. Bradley would box his socks off.
But for now, the clock is still ticking and my kettle is still boiling. Any day now I expect to hear the news, ”Khan has vacated his title”. Let’s hope he doesn’t. Adios.

THERE IS NO ONE WHO FINDS EXCUSES FOR THEIR FIGHTERS LIKE THE BRITS. KHAN IS SUPPOSED TO BE WORLD CHAMPION, SO HE IS EXSPECTED TO FIGHT HIS NR.1 CHALLENGER LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. IF HE KNOWS THAT HE IS STILL LEARNING THEN HE SHOULD´NT HAVE FOUGHT FOR THE TITLE IN THE FIRST PLACE. HE WON AGAINST THE WEAKEST 140 CHAMP, AND DEFENDED AGAINST THE WEAKEST CHALLENGER, IT WAS HIS FIRST DEFENCE SO HE IS ALLOWED THAT. NOW HE MUST FIGHT THE NR.1 CHALLENGER. I SUSPECT THE FIGHT WILL NOT BE MADE, HIS COACH AND PROMOTER WOULD DIG UP SME OLD FOSIL HE CAN BEAT UP.

maidana is no boxer he is a big punching slugger…..like prescott and velaro and it is interesting how haters like Liam don’t care about real boxers like bradley or alexander or judah or malinaggi or diaz etc but instead want to see khan up against maidana and valero…..i wonder why!
If Amir Khan wasn’t making as much money as he can for his fights, trust me he would definitely fight Maidana. But when you are in a position to not have to take a risk against a big puncher, then you aren’t going to fight him. It’s allll about the general public who know nothing about boxing, whatever is going to sell tickets. If Amir Khan’s next fight is announced to fight say Zab Judah, people would say who is he? Oh he is this guy that has fought this guy, this guy, won this, won that…they are the fights that he is looking for.
Maidana is a very good fighter and yeah as boxing fans you are always going to want to see these tear ups, Maidana’s knockout power could well end Amir Khan. But honestly, the money isnt even there. The general public would believe that Salita is better than Maidana because he had an undefeated record with 30 fights.
All the fighters who generate the money can choose whoever they want to fight, and they will. Calzaghe got screwed over so many times during his career to fight for the money, because he wasnt big enough of a name at the time and not worth the risk.
Amazes me how people don’t realise the business aspect of Boxing. Don’t expect Amir Khan to fight Maidana anytime soon. Zab Judah, definitely. Timothy Bradley is supposed to be the best light-welterweight in the division, so don’t jump all over Khan if he fights Bradley.

amir is very popular and it’s all about money and conning his fans who dont really support him because he’s a good fighter but because of his race and religion. he said if he was white he’d be a superstar but the truth is he wouldn’t be half as popular if he was white

i dnt hear bradley or maidana exactly asking to fight khan either! they dnt seem to be in a hurry cuz they know they gunna get whooped. only people like murray n thaxton looking for paydays/public attention have ever called khan out and when offered the chance to fight him run a million miles! i dont think amir khan will get an easy touch wot ever way he goe,s.if he dont fight bradley or maidana.khan is rite in the public eye,so even if he fights a faded judah its still a big fight for khan who is 23 and only had 2 fights at 140lb. and judah would be the rite fight at this stage of is career.

Oh my, Amir must be terrified of facing the unbeatable Maidana! This article is purely based on ifs and buts. If he does vacate, then you’re right to criticise but not now. As for Tim Bradley, I’ve only seen him once, doing a fair but not overly spectacular job on a faded Junior Witter. While being a good allround boxer I saw nothing to suggest he can even match the speed of Khan.
I have a feeling he’ll go for hatton/judah/marquez. Better reward for the risk taken. Although Maidana has a somewhat astonishing knock out percentage, I just think Khan would out hustle him. But I can’t see the fight happening to tell you the truth.
