by Jason Alcairo: Now that the Floyd Mayweather Jr. camp has relented on blood testing procedures being handled by the USADA, one more and hopefully the final hurdle has been cleared for the fight to be finalized. You would think. Bob Arum, head of Top Rank, is seemingly starting to backtrack a bit on the stipulations the Pacquiao camp has been seeking. I can not stress this enough. I repeat. I CAN NOT stress this enough.
Stop. Talking. To. The. Media. With me so far? Stop talking to the media. Stop it.
Right now, Todd DuBoef is the one handling the negotiations. Todd is talking to Richard Schaefer working his ass off to clean up your verbal diarrhea. Freddy is the one who handles Manny’s training and knows him best. You are in Cabo San Lucas, probably wearing a smear of sun tan lotion over your nose and staying shaded as much as possible while screaming into your phone about how the Mayweather camp is bullying Manny and pushing him around. Now they’ve let up and we’re all excited to see the biggest fight of the last 20 years or so and you’re having a heart attack to try and correct everything that you think is wrong. But you aren’t helping. Please. Have a Mai Tai and sit this one out for a bit.
Manny, please drop the lawsuit by the way. It’s cool. Make the fight, take out your aggression out on Mayweather. Hit him so hard his dad is going to feel it. Please do this for us. Hell, I’m sure even your detractors will thank you for it just because it will mean the fight is really happening.
Freddy, get on the wire and tell everyone that things are cool and you guys are going to work out a time table like you requested. Come through for us.You want a piece of the Mayweathers and now you have it so get with Manny, find out what works, and tell them.
So, now that that’s out the way, I implore my fellow boxing fans, that whether you agree with me or not, don’t take anything Bob Arum says to be fact. He isn’t handling negotiations. Yes, it’s annoying. It’s very annoying. But do the fact checking necessary for a fight of this magnitude.It’s been marred in enough whiny cry baby hearsay rumors. I’m sure you’ll find that everyone,Bob Arum aside, is trying to move this along.

From what I am reading on this blog, most other fight fans like me can see a fighter who is afraid…FM Jr.. If this fight were to get scheduled, it would be the first time in my life I plan to make a significant wager on a professional fight. And of course I am wagering on Mannie P., he is not afraid to get hit like Floyd. I doubt if it will happen however, Floyd wants to money but is too fearful of being knocked out!
I’m noticing a lot of people are requesting that Pac continue with the lawsuit against Mayweather….well I doubt very seriously if he has a case against Golden Boy or Jr. He may (and I’m not that sure) have a case against Sr….but then who cares?!
It’s quite plain and simple, “Money doesnt want to fight Manny” he’s just doing this things because he has no choice! PEOPLE WANTS TO SEE THIS FIGHT!
* Floyd agreed to fight Pac on March 13, why? he thinks Pacman will not sign because its too soon since the date he fought Miguel. (knowing that pac is still injured) In that way it will look like Pacquiao is ducking him! but boom! Manny agrees and floyd needs to find a way out.
* Steroid issue! This guy is desperate to kill the fight. A lot of questions for FMJ, why he didnt ask he’s former opponents to undergo that USADA type of test? by demanding that to manny clearly shows that he’s accusing the man who’s been proven CLEAN in his previous fights.

You know if they fought Manny would be at a disadvantage. His head wont be in the game he would just try to knock out FMJ right away. FMJ can handle distractions we saw it in the judah fight and JMM when they kept asking him about the IRS. FMJ wins in a TKO not a KO. Dim-weathers in their little uneducated brains think they are the top dogs of boxing world and same applies to their looser fans. For all u defending mayweather, pac agreed to do blood test. But he’s not going to do a blood test before weigh in and few hours before the fight. Mayweather tight ur straps its going to be a rough road bish!!!
It’s about time that boxing do blood testing on fighters.
We try to control every sport for athletes to have the same tools when the competition start, boxing has to be the same,especialy boxing…baseball has control players not only for guys hitting over the fence but for the security of defensive players like 3rdbase, pitchers and 1stbase,those balls were coming out like rocket.
In boxing we got two guys going toe to toe trying to put the other one down…i don’t think it’s that hard to understand that they need to know if those guys are clean. People has to understand that urine test is not enough, you need blood test at least 20 days before the competition and one right after for the test to be 100% reliable. The bottom line is…You got nothing to hide, why not do the test ?

The boxing public gives FMJ too much respect and say so in the sport. Think about when FMJ retired, we watch some of the best boxing matches without any drama. FMJ brings too much school yard bullying too his fights. Now the lawsuit filed by Manny gave GBP and FMJ a wke up call, they would fight and get paid or pay Manny without having to fight.

Bob cannot help it but to punish Shaeffer of GBP for running to the media that Pacquiao is a dope cheater. GBP has now got the dose of their own medicine, so to speak.
With regards to backtracking, I just want to know what are you talking about. One of the salient points of the negotiation is about DOPE or STEROID TESTING. Here is an obvious reason for that. Under DOPE or STEROID TESTING that your cohort Mayweather, et al is trying to “impose” upon the reigning and defending WBO champ, not to mention the 7 titles in 7 different weights (aside from his grammy award winning voice in singing and oscar nominated award acting in his films) are FOUR DIFFERENT SUBSETS. 1) who will do the testing – USADA or NSAC?
2) what kind of testing – blood or urine or both?
3) what is the protocol for these testings and the frequency of the test (forget about the random testing because USADA can get blood from Pacquiao if he is having sex with his wife at 2am in the morning.)
4) The cut off date that an specimen (whether it is urine or blood or sputum or pubic hair, or sperm) be extracted to ensure its effectiveness.
If options 1, 2 and 3 are met and option 4 is not, then the main salient point of DOPE or STEROID TESTING cannot be done. (Remember it is in boolean, if condition A = True AND condition B = false, then the boolean equation is FALSE. In other words, Mayweather must agree on those 4 options and not only 3.

I agree. Manny still has to go through with the lawsuit. I would actually present him the lawsuit on the day of the fight. Could you imagine what psychological advantage Manny would have over Mayweather if PBF got served on the day of the fight?
The two isuues are totally separate in my view.
Pacquiao needs to accept the fight and kick ass.
Then he needs to get retribution for the wrong that loose talk has done to his reputation.
As soon as this fight was first announced, I was really excited by the prospect that Pacquiao would get a chance to shut PBF up in the ring. Now it seems he cah do the job twice, with no need for a third combat.

Jason, the fight will happen. There’s just too much money involved. But the lawsuit should continue. GBP and Team Mayweather really hit way below the belt in their accusations. What they have done is immoral and criminal to a point. With Manny being a megastar, commercial endorsements become a huge possibility. Although we can only speculate on lost endorsement opportunities, the fact that his image has been scarred is something that would nag at anybody. Put yourself in Manny’s shoes. I think you will sue as well. I know I would and I would sue hard.

Sorry, I don’t agree with you completely. Bob is right, no more outside agency, its the NSAC that should do the testing, and if the commission says, no to blood test, both parties should abide by that.

The whole bloodtest, in & out of the negotiation is adding more hype to the whole thing. Even us here just a few miles off the southpole gets the news on TV. Makes me wonder who’s the master orchestrator of this whole thing. Honestly, I don’t feel the fight is NOT going to happen (even with the blood testing fiasco). Too much at stake on the table for anyone to walk away. This is just a businessman point of view.
