Mayweather wants Pacquiao to provide blood tests – news

By Liam Santiago: Floyd Mayweather Snr has told fight hype that he wants World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao to take blood test, prior to their March 13th showdown in Vegas, after much speculation linking Pacquiao to performing enhancing drugs. However, although Freddie Roach has no problem with the tests, he does not want them to be conducted any shorter than six weeks prior to the bout as it may affect Pac Man mentally. Mayweather, however, strongly disagrees. He said in an article at Fight Hype, ”He [Roach] didn’t even say Manny would be too drained if he gave blood, he said it would affect him [Pacquiao] mentally, so unless he has something to hide, it shouldn’t affect him mentally.”

Roach jabbed Mayweather Snr by stating he did not have the high school knowledge to understand performing enhancing drugs. Mayweather said, ”You don’t have to finish high school to understand performing enhancing drugs. We train world class athletes every day. Shows you how much Freddie Roach knows”.

Mayweather went on, ”Yeah, I definitely want Pacquiao to give blood. How is that going to affect him mentally? You could give blood a day before the fight and it wouldn’t affect you, let alone 3 weeks out. Something isn’t right man and we’re going to make sure everything is copacetic”.

I have to admit, giving a small amount of blood will have no impact on Pacquiao’s preparation in any way. So why does Roach not want these tests to be done within six weeks of the fight? What is there to hide? Personally, I do not think the Pac Man is on any kind of steroids. I believe the reason for Pacquiao’s recent success is very careful match making against fighter’s who were just about shot, or weight drained, which was the case against De La Hoya and Cotto. Hatton was simply shot and peaked too early. I do not think anyone believes that Pacquiao could beat a prime De La Hoya, Cotto or Hatton.

Mayweather is a smart boxer.he knows that pacman will put a lot of dent on his pretty face om march 13. So u will here more excuses after blood testing.

  • DANIEL says:

FLOYD DIDNT EVEN WEIGH IN THE NIGHT HE FOUGHT JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ… ALL OF A SUDDEN HE WANTS TO BE ON A SAME LEVEL? FLOYD IS LOOKING FOR EXCUSES. IF THIS FIGHT DOES HAPPEN … HES GOING TO NEED SOME NEW RUNNING SHOES… THE OTHER SHOES ARE PROBLY ALL WASTED. FLOYD WOULD BE A GOOD MARATHON RUNNER.

  • Jawad says:

When Camp Manny is saying that they can get Pacman’s blood tested right after the fight then what difference does it make?? i think the big fellow mayweather is scared of pacman and just wants to deviate his focus by making demands which are quite unusual.

  • dbeals says:

These days random drug test are necessary. There is too much cheating in sports. If Mosely’s camp didn’t demand to inspect Margaritos wraps we would have never known he was cheating. The Mayweather camp has the right to ask for testing. Really, if you are clean what is there to hide. When a police officer says “Can I have a look inside your car” and you refuse, they have a reason to get a warrant. Same thing here.

  • brit says:

it will definitely affect anyone mentally. look at Liam and Perez. they have been selling theirs on blood bank to augment their pathetic income here

    VERY TRUE MY FRIEND.

  • jay says:

blood test or no test who cares, what diffrents its makes, floyd a bigger fighter, and manny dont want no test, but he does drink a all nature protein drink that his health coach gives him.

  • curious_one says:

  • Fighter Fan says:

If you are being harrased by somebody like Mayweather would you go through with it? it’s not about drug testing anymore it’s about Mayweather trying to break Manny psychologically by aksing too many demands, Pacquiao already agreed with almost everything besides this one, he has the right !!Mayweather is just setting up an alibi in case he will be the loser on March 13th. He can say, “I was beaten because Pacquaio was on some performance-enhancement drugs.” Fighters like Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, are real boxers. Real men who don’t give excuses for a match, heroes of their homeland. Alas, Mayweather couldn’t match with Hatton,Cotto and Pacquaio’s support from their countries . Sorry Mayweather ; nobody likes a cheat, a complainer and a big-mouth guy who has a lot of excuses!!

  • undisputed says:

Manny is a small bod, Floyd is a big bod. Manny is fast, Floyd is faster. There skill isnt even comparable in favor of Floyd. So the only advantage that Manny could potentially have over Floyd is performance drugs and herein lies the purpose for the test. Floyd is eliminating all possibilities of failure. He is dominant, and will dominate.

  • roy says:

There have been just a couple hundred HGH tests, according to experts such as Christine Ayotte, head of the Montreal Olympic-testing lab, and Gary Wadler, a physician and author who has advised the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Yes, there is a blood test for HGH. But because antibodies necessary for the process are in such short supply, virtually no HGH testing is conducted. In addition, the test only detects HGH right after injection so it’s impractical for in-competition testing. As a result, there never has been an HGH positive test that is accurate.
its a non issue as unless it taken right after injected no way to detech it. take the money and lets fight.

  • roy says:

but ig floyd agree to have the test the right after the fight that night,,and floyd lose ,he get vindicated .he get the win,and he get the 50 million,if floyd win the fight, and positive or neg he win and get the 50 millions.but if the fight dont go forward he dont get no 50 mil and no guarantee and no glory, just unfinished businese .how could pac flush his system .its not a smart money move.

  • Allen says:

You are missing alot. HGH tests have to be done randomly to be effective as it does not show up on a test for long. If you know the date that the test is being given, it’s easy to avoid detection. What I don’t get is all of the tough talk from Roach a couple a weeks ago saying that Manny would take the tests because he’s clean and would prove it. Arum was talking too. Roach and Arum both knew then that the contract had olympic style testing in the contract. Now they are strongly opposed to the testing. What has changed? Has Manny confessed to them that he’s on something? When it was taking so long for Pacquiao to agree to the contract, I kinda felt that something was funny then.

  • roy says:

manny says he take the blood test 30 days before or right after the fight, says taking blood out affect him, they do take a lot of blood, but I would think that floyd would love to have his 50 mil.as taking the test right after win or lose floyd gain vs not having the fight and the 50 million, what am I missing?.

  • caveman says:

This is just another excuse for the Mayweather’s camp!

  • Allen says:

The standard for HGH testing is blood testing. The urine test for HGH pretty much doesn’t detect anything unless they test within a day or 2 of when HGH was taken. Roach saying that Pacquiao will not submit to a blood test within 6 weeks of the fight because it will hurt him mentally is very curious to say the least. Hurt him mentally????

  • Allen says:

Certain substances that don’t show up in urine tests or that can be masked for a urine test show up during a blood test. That team Pacman will not submit to blood testing is very curious. Arum’s statement that blood tests don’t show anything is 100% incorrect. Saying that Pacquiao will do a blood test at the beginning of the year and then only urine tests thereafter is a joke. Olympic athletes (even boxers) submit to blood tests and their performance doesn’t seem to be hurt.

  • Shut up MAyweather. You’re starting to talk some trash again.

  • juan_tamad says:

liam, get yourself a dude/woman who can always compliment you coz you obviously have issues about getting attention.. you weren’t hug enough when you were a kid were u? we’ll i dont blame your parents for doing so.. Go PACMAN!

  • Mr Rich says:

I dont beleive that Manny Pacquiao would take steroids , but i cant say that for sure, and neither can anyone on this site. You could test after the fight but that would be pointless as there are steroids that can be out of your system within 1 or 2 hours now. Anybody with any sense would use them while training and lay off of them just before the fight, your strengh would still be improved but you wouldnt get caught. The only way to be sure is to do random drug tests (more than one) during the 12 week or 8 week training period while the fighters are preparing themselves for the fight. This should be a mandatory thing for both fighers.

  • kid d says:

y not take blood test unless u have something to hide

  • Rodge says:

The poster (Pacman) is absolutely correct. The blood test is just bulls–t. Have them (both) do it after the fight. P.S Please comment on my (say its) on the unappreciated floyd mayweather jr. vs. the haters. Thanks!!!

  • unknown says:

I’m just wondering if Mayweather is in his peak right now… it would be good if Pacquiao fights somebody who is in their peak so that there would be no excuses…

  • Jonathan says:

Pacquiao didn’t beat DeLaHoya, Hatton or Cotto. He thoroughly dominated them. Give the man some credit and consider they were on the downside of their careers-not very far removed from some of their better performances either- and each of them weren’t even in the fight, then it is probably safer and more accurate to suggest that Pacquiao would not have completely dominated a prime DeLaHoya, and Cotto but rather, he would have just beaten them soundly. However, in the case of Hatton, Ricky could have been in the prime of his career and fighting the fight of his life and it still would have made no difference he would have still been knocked out.

  • josh says:

they should both take blood test. every other sport has to so why not these two

  • Pacman says:

This will be one of the Mayweathers excuses once Pacquiao wins. Maybe after the fight he can take blood tests and proove the he is the better pound for pound then floyd maywetaher.

  • undisputed says:

When it all goes down in the end, so will Pac.

  • Gerry says:

Floyd beat Hatton at 147 lbs. Hatton is a natural 140 lbs. He beat Marquez at 144 lbs ( Floyd came in at 146 at weigh in ) Marquez is a natural 135 lbs. Pacquiao can now handle welterweight and Floyd’s advantages are disappearing. He has to pick on something that may disqualify his opponent because the fight is getting dangerously fair and square and this is not Floyd’s comfort zone. You can run but you can not hide. No where to go.

  • Guest says:

Why Should Pacquiao have to take bloods tests? He already proved that he did not use any drugs on his previous tests. If he gives blood tests then so should Mayweather. There is no way that Mayweather came out of retirement for about a year and a half and he is performing better than what he was doing before.

  • Sgt.Q says:

    To Jay:
I believe it’s called posturing or Pysch warfare. Roach does it very well too. If you loose you have some grounds to discredit the win and have a rematch even if the test comes out negative. But if it does come out positive and the fight still goes on and Jr still beats Pac then all the more ammo for Jr to claim he’s the best. But if Jr lost the fact PED’s were even hinted just gives him ammo to get another chance for another fight if he deems to want another one. But sometimes people need to study the background of someone they want to accuse first before they open thier mouth lest they just end up looking like a fool.

  • Angelo says:

Roach should agree to the test…as long as mayweather gets one too. Lets be fair pac-haters.

  • Angelo says:

I suppose that when Manny beats floyd, it will be Manny beating a “shot” floyd mayweather..eh liam? I for one do not think Cotto is “shot” he lost to a cheatee in margarito. Your such an @$hole

  • Matthew says:

The Mayweathers are just scared. Complaining complaining and more complaining. Excuses excuses and more excuses.

  • Jay says:

I am a little confused. I thought all boxers were tested before the fight. Is this not the case? Anyways, Pac will knock him out within 5 rounds! Mayweather can run but he can’t hide.

  • el tsunami says:

Pacquiao would of beat hatton no matter what! but cotto was not in his prime after losing to margarito he was not the same! he even admited he wasnt the same so he had to get tattos! and a prime delahoya would of destroy pacquiao with the left hook!

  • Joka Roo says:

Chicken little $heet is pretty evident. I see two things:

    1. Fraud formally withdraws from the fight because he cannot control the pre-fight scenario

    or

    2. A 6th round KO of Fraud by MONEY Pacquiao.

  • perezizabean says:

speaking of mental strength; mayweather seems like he is TRIPPN. I mean he’s coming up w/a plethora of excuses. Look here’s the bottom line, steroids stays in your body for about 30 days or so. Y doesn’t roach want pac to take blood before then? who knows, the poor guy might have some phobia concerned with it. and you don’t want to tell your opponent any weaknesses. that or roach just likes f*ckn w/them. pacs not on PED’s i mean get over it. A majority of his weight comes from his lower half, look at the guy’s calves.

My body is filipino and he was 6’4” 160lbs. Now he’s at 225, good shape. He didn’t take steroids, he just took a lot of weight gainer and rice. Pack on the cals and you can pac on the weight, common sense.

  • Dennis Broadhurst says:

Pacquaio did beat prime Cotto, he would destroy Hatton any day but Oscar would be a war!

  • Sgt.Q says:

    Liam:
I thought you “promised” to never write again if Cotto lost to Pacquiao? Oh I guess that only meant writing for the other website. I guess “word of honor” does not come in that sequence anymore at least in your mind at least.
More power to you Liam Santiago. I bid you with this jest; May the fleas of a thousands camels infest your armpits, may you loose all your teeth but one and may that one have a tooth ache.
That is what I think of you Pulitzer Price worthy articles. Oh did you bring Manuel Perez with you. Just admit it you are in love with Pacquiao. Cheers…

  • boxing fan says:

the mayweather’s really scared of paquiao power lol, they will do anything to duck this fight. they know this is not the fight for his son.

  • YouCantBeWriting says:

Roach is the one who has the problem, Manny has no problem with it. Nothing else to talk about. Just a slow news day.

  • ALAN BOSWORTH says:

in every championship fight you have drug tests, this tells me mayweather is worried this early.you can see what is going to unfold, mayweather running for 12rds pacman chasing him.we all new that, but mayweather who wants pacquiao tested as confirmed it.

  • neukid says:

Be smart Floyd Sr dont take the bait of coach roach and tell your son not to sign the contract!

  • jhon foreman says:

why roach is worried of blood test, i could have a blood test every day and nothing happened, only if Pacman really hidding things and if this is the case all the greatness, all his winning the belt will be disregarded. I request to take this belt away from him and roach and dont give me that kind of BS, i work in the hospital and we knows.

  • WHY CANT HE TAKE A BLOOD TEST RIGHT AFTER THE FIGHT? I WOULDNT TAKE IT BEFORE THE FIGHT , THE FIGHT WILL NOT HAPPEN THERE IS TO MUCH BS GOING ON!

  • Hank says:

I noticed you didn’t make a prediction for this fight. Afraid you’ll lose again Liam?
