Mayweather-Pacquiao: Floyd Will never win

By “The Inevitable” D. Berry: I’ve watched and studied all 40 of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. fights and I have realized something; Floyd Mayweather Jr. can’t win. I know some of you are thinking,” he’s so right! Mayweather can’t beat World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao!”. The problem with that thought: I wasn’t talking about the Pacquiao fight. So I strongly advise the Pac fans to exit now. Its about to get so obscene in a minute.
First I would like to go over his past victories over the likes of Judah, Baldomir, Corrales, De La Hoya, Hatton, and Marquez. All of these fighters were doing good or on a comeback at the time that Mayweather fought them. Yet, Mayweather Jr. critics have said all of these fighters were washed up or too slow. Everyone can’t be as fast as Mayweather. Remember, Corrales was 30-0 when he fought Floyd jr. Hatton was undefeated. Baldomir did the dirt to the (just as fast) Zab Judah. But Mayweather easily disposed of them.
While some think Mayweather had problems with Judah, he actually stated that he knew Zab would come out fast and fade in the late rounds. That right check hook that Zab hit Mayweather with in the first or second round was the best punch I’ve ever seen Mayweather take in all of his fights. He “DID” touch the ground (which should have been ruled a knockdown) but look at his balance as he’s trying to stay up. That punch alone showed me Mayweather has a heck of a chin.
I truly believe Mayweather fought Marquez just to let Manny know that Mayweather was coming for him. I think he came in over the weight limit to let Pacquiao know that he won’t be getting him to fight at those catch weights as he made everyone else. I have to admit, Juan Manuel Marquez, Mayweather’s last opponent, was smaller than Mayweather but it was him who signed the contract to fight Mayweather.
Now let’s look at the latest (so-called) Mayweather competition. If (I’m only saying if because people said my last article was bias. He WILL BEAT PACQUIAO) Mayweather Jr. beats Pac-man people will bring up the 1.5 inch height difference and longer reach was the factor. They will still call Manny a legend even if he loses due to the wins he has over the same people Floyd beat first or simply beat in better fashion than Pacquiao (i.e. Marquez).
If Mayweather beats Sugar Shane Mosley, people will say that Mayweather was supposed to beat him because Shane has only beat one of boxing’s greats. (Margarito is a cheater. Roids is one thing. Stuffed gloves is a boxing abomination). Mosley also has 5 losses on his plate whereas Mayweather has none.
Mayweather is too experienced for Paul Williams and Andre Berto, Miguel Cotto is shot, in my estimation, Margarito’s a cheater who I don’t see as a good fighter, Matthew Hatton doesn’t stand a chance and everyone else doesn’t deserve to be seen on TV.
So at the end of the day Mayweather will never win because he’s in a class of his own. People say he fights too safe to be called great. Well, Muhammad Ali is great but he has taken a beating throughout his career so I think I would stay on the safe side too. At the same time you have to ask yourself, what is the safe side? Fighting (so-called) lesser fighters? Having the best defense in the sport? Letting people duck you and not coming out publicly about them ducking you only to down the road be said to have ducked them? Cherry picking? Not to mention he plays the role of the bad guy and most people will not let the bad guy win. That’s why he’s Floyd “Money” Mayweather, he has to go for the money because the critics won’t give him the respect even though he has already won it.
(By the way) to all who say Mayweather is a cherry picker, ask yourself this. What if everyone wanted you to fight this guy who is good but isn’t a star for a million bucks. At the same time you could fight a guy who is a star with a huge following but isn’t that great of a fighter for 20 million dollars. Would you go for the recognition or the money and fame? My point exactly. GET ‘EM FLOYD!

Where is Mayweather? If he thinks he is the no. 1 p4p boxer in the world, why cant he fight the no.1 contender which is Pacman…Is that because he knows that it will jeopardize his perfect record? Trying to avoid his would be best opponent ever, will just ruin his credibility. How many times was he called COWARD on ESPN? Too many. Considering Manny, right now is actually the no.1 p4p boxer and holds the most belts in boxing history. Mayweather should be the one making this fight happen. And for the betters, the odds were Floyd -130 Manny +260. Making Floyd the heavy favorite. I really don’t see the odds being any better for Manny on fight night if they ever get together. In fact, Floyd will probably be a bigger favorite.
All pacfans can say to this is Mayweather picks on smaller fighters. But it turns out Mayweather also started fighting at 106. He beat anyone considered good at 130 and had to move up. Much younger and with much less experience. He even fought at 154. Manny hasn’t cleared all the competition in any weight from 126 up. The wide consensus was Cotto was shot before he fought Manny. Manny is a great brawler. One of the best ever. But Trinidad was too. Then he fought a defensive specialist with great counter-punching. And that fight retired him for years. After seeing the JMM fights Manny and his people realized a decent counter pucher would result in a fight many believe Manny lost. Let alone one of the best ever. Honestly, if Manny steps up to the plate, the opinion of most boxing analysts and mine is and has been since Mayweather’s return, is that Manny wouldn’t do much better than Marquez. Marquez who is good defensively and at counter-punching gave Manny fits. And they are the same size. Floyd is one of the best counter-punchers ever. He’s also one of the most elusive and hardest to hit fighters ever. Has floyd fought the best at welterweight? No, he hasn’t. Has he fought the biggest money fights? yes. Williams is in the same boat Margarito was for years. He looked very impressive but no one except real boxing fans knew who he was. Judah had a name. Gatti had a big name. Baldomir made a name by beating Judah and Gatti. As for Williams, since Quintana gave him a lesson in boxing, Floyd would get no credit. Mosley is definitely too old. Mosley ducked Floyd 10 years ago when Mosley was one of the best p4p and undeafeted. Now hes 38 with his only truly impressive performance against Margarito- did anyone else see the look on Margaritos face once they took out his plaster?? The only way for Floyd to get any credit is to move up and try and get a big name to fight him at a catchweight of 157. He could face a top 168 fighter at 157 or so. Other than that he is seen as cherry-picking. This blood-testing makes Manny look terrible either way. On the one hand he refuses and looks like he is hiding something. On the other he agrees tests clean and doesn’t win one round- leaving many to think he didn’t look good because he didn’t have his PEDs.

We, Filipinos, are not racist, and we certainly do not degarade another human being. I’ve seen many African Americans married Filipinas, and I have so much African Americnas friends here in the U.S. Just to let you know, I am a big fan of Floyd even before Manny emerged in the U.S. I still admire Floyd for his boxing skills, however, because Manny is a Filipino like me, I have to favor him. Again, no offense on Floyd’s fans. I appreciate good fights, and I hope both fighters will come out and give their best to please the crowd. Peace!

This is getting pretty exciting ! All PBF fans coming out to support Money May. I guess you all realize that this is the biggest fight of his life, one mistake by the greatest PURE boxer of era can cost him his undefeated title. That is the legacy i think of Pacquiao, the Fighter who, without fear, challenged all the greats in his era and gave them a beat down (then invited them to his birthday LOL). He only comes one in a lifetime friends ! lets enjoy it.
My crystal ball says, Mayweather will be knocked down in the first round with a surprise right hook coming over from the right side at an angle. He will become more defensive, jab and run the remaining round as usual but will be caught in a corner, forced to an exchange of blows and get TKO’ed in the 8th round by a combinations of two successive body shots, a left upper cut, a straight punch and a heavy right cross.

Okay at this point all the opinion that were saying is all but assumption base on our preference and base on previous fights. And things like height , gloves and that Manny is gonna get cuts is really laughable, predicting a Mayweather win by UD is also laughable,coz they can’t see Floyd winning by KO , that’s why. Hatton, Cotto, Diaz,and Dela hoya all can’t see the fast hands till fight night. All except Diaz was judge to win even before the fight and all had boastful bravado that they gonna win against the smaller man and that their strength is too much , but after the fight all concede with huge embarassment. And even some of the writers of this web site ate their words against a humble man with small beginning .All the arrogance were meant to cover fear, jabs don’t win fights, combination punches does. All the clinches and elbow might help Floyd for a while during the fight but against a very dynamic puncher with a good footwork I really don’t see him win. You have to know about boxing in order to understand that Mayweather, he is in another class of boxing. He is versatile, can fight in the pocket as he did with Castillo with a dislocated shoulder. Pacquiao has the energy, but tends to drop his hands when he feels too confident. Others where to slow to catch him while he was doing it. Maweather wont, he sees everything and has the quickness to counter pacquiao when he will last expect it. There will be a KO before the 9th round. It will be one of Mayweather’s easiest fight. I’m putting all my money on PFM.

This article is very biased, but it does hold some truth.
Mayweather does play the bad guy role, and he plays it perfectly. So much so that there is no chance he can change this personia because the public/critics have already made there mind up about him as a person.
He has played this role so well that people now watch his bouts just to see him lose, and are even starting to underate his boxing skills and achievements. The fact is, Mayweather has fought the best out there (at the time) up until 147lbs.
The worst decision Mayweather made was to retire after the Hatton bout because he was becoming more popular, not just in America but around the world. In my opinion he should have used the Hatton bout as a stepping stone for mega fights against the top guys in 147lbs.
Pacquiao achieved a great deal in the 18 months – 2 year lay off of Mayweather, but how many can truthfully say they knew who Pacquiao was and what he was about before the De la Hoya bout, possibly the Marquez bouts?
Pacquiao has brought a lot casual fans to boxing over the past couple of years, and you can see why. But there are a lot of these casual fans who are downplaying Mayweather’s achievements, possibly because they haven’t seen many of his bouts and opposition, or possibly because they are naive…???
to all you pbf nuthuggers: yes, pac will get tagged as he will try to entertain us and push the fight and bring it to pbf. as to pbf, giving pac a beatdown, please cite me an instance of this beatdown that pbf will be capable of. if pac tested intentionally wanted to get hit to test cotto’s power early in the rounds, this dude is gonna keep walking up to pbf and he will land the damaging blows to the body. pbf will never be able to knock down pac cuz he’ll be too busy backpedaling. pac will keep moving forward cuz pbf will be throwing mosquito bites, and pac will eventually land the telling blows later on as damage will keep accumulating through the rounds. pbf will go down by the 11th. pac just has a nasty habit proving his critics wrong. i’m a pacfan and i absolutely love it that he’s the underdog for this fight. it only fuels him more. look for a pac stoppage of pbf late in the rounds.

Guys, do not understimate the power of Floyd Mayweather! IF you don’t think he has the power to KO Manny, then many of you will be surprised. Manny will get frustrated because no matter what he does, Mayweather will be out of reach.

Ok, here is my one penny about a good offense/defense. I hope the bias writer will not edit/delete my comments here. Well, it all depends on how good and effective that offense/defense is executed on the opposing sides. Simple answer! I envisioned two boxers one with uncanny ability to throw quick accurate successive punches in weird different angles and not just punches but solid one that can send you to dreamland. The other boxer uses his ability to dances, cover up, shoulder rolls, back pedaled to elude those powerful punches then strike one or two punches if there’s an opening. Honestly, I am not sure who’s going to win that’s the reason why this Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is considered a “must have” to watch. As I said earlier it all depends on the fighters ability to offset the other opposing side. But, if I put names on the fighters like Manny the first boxer and Floyd the second…I know exactly who will win…the one with the big heart! I go 100% with the humble and courageous Manny Pacman Pacquiao than Floyd loudmouth, ducking, cherry picking Money Mayweather. Is it obvious I am a filipino and I die hard Manny fan? LOL!

I agree there are probably more Manny fans than PBF. It is not due to PBF’s fighting skills but his mouth. He is trash talker, boastful, egotiscal, ultra flamboyant, rude, classless, zero humility and a hypocrite. But you don’t hear a single word of trash talking from Manny. He has been ridiculed, questioned his accomplishments and most tough of all, his legacy is tainted by steroids accusation. Basically calling Manny a cheater. Manny has always held his head high, always shown humility, respect to his opponents, treats his foes as friends, never engages in trash talking and his most redeeming quality….he truly believes God is guiding him whether he wins or loses. And he has said befoe, he doesn’t fear losing, because he believe if it is God’s will, he doesn’t fear losing, he is ok with it. Everything he has, he has said is all a blessing and everything he has and won for, is for his fellow countrymen. He believes in honor and sacrifice. He wants to carry the burden of his country, and will win for the honor of his countrymen. Those values and conviction is what makes Manny what he is, it is not all about boxing but the honor he brings to his country and countrymen. In my opinion, Manny has a destiny…a light you might say. It is not about just himself, the money or the honor of his people, it is about fortitude. Growing up in the most humblest beginning where he grew up in extreme poverty where he sleeps in a cardboard box, and a day he came home to find out his father killed his pet to eat. He brings pride to people and also hope. This is Manny Pacquiao.

I think he has faster hands than Pacquiao, but I don’t think the reach advantage will be a factor. To be fair Floyd has fought some if the best Welters in the sports during his reign. He fought a well conditioned Dela Hoya, who faded in half of the 12 rounds. He fought Hatton and he frustate Hatton. Corrales was Good too and was undefeated, to name a Few and Zab was winning the beggining rounds. All of them are good fighter but the commonality of this fighter is they only throw 1-2-3 punches or jabs the most, has flat foot and predictable with either straight right or left ,hook. Pacquiao can throw punches at different angle and with power,and Floyd will be overwhelmed by a barage of punches 5-10 combinations ,some of it he will never see coming and that will be he’s downfall, he could be faster but a 1-2-3 jabs and hooks the most , this time it will not cut a win for him. I don’t see Floyd winning this fight in anyway, If it goes to decision it will be Manny.The only way Floyd can win this fight is if he knock Pacquiao out , which i don’t see happening after he Blitz Cotto out. And at the same time took Cotto’s punch.Floyd will taste he’s first defeat and a bad one. Manny by TKO,KO at 10th round.

The beauty of this fight is nobody knows who will win. On the Barrera fight, Manny did not have a chance; on the De La Hoya fight, pundits and the general boxing fans say Oscar wins; on the Cotto fight, pundits says it’s Cotto but the general public says it’s Pacquiao; on Mayweather, early favourite for the pundits and the general public is Mayweather. Floyd has mentioned this in several interviews, that regardless of what he does in the sport, he cannot win.
Someone always has to be the smaller man in a fight, by some small measurement, someone has an advantage in size. Mayweather has fought bigger men in his career before and this is simply forgotten. I’ve never really thought Mayweather to be a cherry picker, a businessman yes, but cherry picker or ducking fighters? No. Why should he? The man has underrated skill, he is the best PURE BOXER of our generation, again unrecognised.
Why? Simply because of the media’s portrayal of a character designed by Floyd… “Money”. The man has gone as far as the WWE to cement this character into the media and like fools everyone has fallen into it. I believe the plan for Mosley to cause controversy and a media build-up for a later Floyd Vs Mosley bout, was construed a long time before now. Mosley unifies against Berto, Mayweather beats Mosley (because think about it now, he will… Mayorga fight, watch it and remember! Margarito fight too, check his stamina!)

I think the title “Floyd will never win” is more than enough to attract readers. But I guess, you´re not sure about that too. How exactly are Pac fans misguided? As with anybody significant there are fans and there are fanatics! And trust me I’ve come across my fair share of Mayweather fanatics. All these speculations and predictions are what makes boxing (or any sport for that matter) fun and exciting.
