Khan-Maidana: Amir is willing to put his belt on the line

By Peter Wells: Despite what other writers are saying mainly Liam Santiago, Khan is willing to fight Marcos Maidana next year. The an article by the Telegraph, Amir Khan said that he is willing to fight, Marcos Maidana, Juan Manuel Marquez and Victor Ortiz. Personally I wouldn’t like to see Ricky fight again, being a big Hatton fan I’d prefer he not take the rick. Marquez isn’t a particularly good option for Khan, ever since Marquez lost to Mayweather, everybody thinks Marquez is washed up and a fighter like Khan could finish him off.
Unfortunately for Khan beating Salita proved nothing except he can knock out a half decent fighter in very quick time, by overwhelming him with speed. So now it’s time to step it up a gear, it would be foolish to fight Juan Manuel first, he has a whole division to take care of first, and there are many fighters that would be great opponents for the near future. Light Welterweight is a very crammed division and fights with Nate Campbell, Timothy Bradley, Lamont Peterson, Victor Ortiz are all great future opponents, but maybe he might not beat all of them, and as long as he doesn’t huddle up and start from the beginning again, he should be able to take every decent fighter in the division. I’d love to see him fight all of them, but it is doubtful that will happen, especially when there are bigger money fights out there, that he will either win with ease or be completely embarrassed.
So we should see that WBA belt still with Amir for some time, and the only way he won’t have it is if he loses, not vacates it because he’s scared of fighting top class opposition. If Khan does decide to vacate the title it will be something he will deeply regret because some day he’ll have to fight those who he fears most.

angel, if you saw Maidana fight Ortiz, you would easily find that Maidana has no solid defense. His chin might be better than Khan, but he has nothing in the speed department compared to Khan. Khan is under probably the best trainer in the world, and Khan’s defense has improved considerably since the Prescott incident 15 months ago. Khan is going to beat Maidana.
maidana will beat khan, look what he did to ortiz. he wont take no for an answer. ortiz has alot more power than khan and khans frenzied combos wont impress maidana, he’ll connect a good right hand at some point and it’ll be over for fragile khan

marquez isnt a lightwelterweight so whats the point in that? Ortiz is ruined now and has been beat twice. He says he’l fight marquez, ortiz or maidana….why not bradly, holt or peterson?

If Khan did fight Maidana, he would win, IMO. Maidana doesn’t have a lot of boxing skill. He just brawls and throws punches at will. Obviously, if someone does that, he will connect at least one time during the fight. Also, Maidana DOES NOT have a good chin. It may not be as bad as Khan’s, but he got floored three times in the first two rounds against Ortiz. Khan had a height, reach and speed advantage. Also, training with Roach has made his defense much better than before, so I’d take Khan over Maidana inside 8
yes ali, i agree. if khan fights maidana and lost i would have more respect than if he avoids these fights and keeps his good record.
hey guys guess what, my mate knows khan and he was telling me that hes gonna fight a big name on march 13th on the undercard of the superfight. He was asked about maidana and he said hes gonna fight maidana in the summer of next year and a possible hatton showdown in the winter. If this is true ill be the first one to stop hating khan and become his fan even though he loses atleast hell have the balls to get in the ring with the likes of maidana
kwan is a decent fighter lets not get carried away with insults. he has good skills is fast and has good footwork. my problem with kwan is that he thinks he deserves to be on parity with fighters who have paid there dues year end and year out. solution to his problem look to fight other up and coming fighters like himself victor ortiz, maidana,bradley,dias, hey why not gagliani or maybe even moveup a few pounds and fight saul alvarez. hey if you want to run with the big dogs do as the big bogs do.
marquez is not wash up he just got out class by another boxer marquez still comes back
there’s no way that i would say maidana was a bum if khan beat him. but if he beats him by headbutting him and frank warren telling the ref to stop the fight or some kind of early bad stoppage in khans favour then khan will not get credit.
but khan wont beat maidana or ortiz and for that reason these fights probably wont happen.

hahaha guys i think maidana is the best at 140 now he showed has a great chin he took punches of ortiz and show he is the most powerful fighter between khan-bradley-ortiz-peterson0, so i think maidana will win and hes trainer is one of the best miguel diaz and roach learn a lot from miguel diaz! trust me!

Hey, Juan Manuel is 36 yrs old, and he is past his prime. I think Khan can take him easily, with the height and speed advantage. Freddy would love to beat him again. Bring it on!
