Khan destroys Salita, Mitchell defeats Prescott – Boxing Results

salita546452By Dennis Broadhurst: Amir Khan has destroyed Dmitriy Salita in one round tonight! Khan came out strong and floored Salita with a huge right hand, Salita got up but didn’t recovered and was knocked down twice again in the round before the fight being stopped. I know I predicted Khan to win this one but not so quickly, he put on a masterful display and hopefully has silenced all of the critics for the meantime. I now take back all criticism of Khan apart from about his punch resistance, Khan showed amazing offense in this fight and it was certainly an inspiring performance showing that training hard pays off. Well done Amir, that was a wonderful display of skill and power, great job.

On the undercard Kevin Mitchell has defeated Breidis Prescott via 12 round decision, this fight has got me questioning Prescott’s skill, all I see him having is power. Well do Mitchell for showing a good chin and good skills through the fight.

prescott43These two fights are great for British boxing and our men have shown that Britain does create good boxers. Also after writing an article saying that Prescott has Khan’s number, I am not sure anymore, I see Khan actually being able to beat Prescott if he moves well and shows the speed and power he did tonight. I know I am going to be criticized for formerly being too critical of Khan and now seeming a great fan of his but that is what I am, a fan of Khan and I wish him all the best in boxing and do apologize for being too critical of him in the past. Just another thing, Scott Gilfoid eat your words! (http://www.boxingnews24.com/2009/12/look-for-khan-and-mitchell-to-get-brutally-knocked-out/)

  • Davey says:

I agree Frad i think Mitchell vs Katsidis is the fight then whoever wins goes for the WBO title

  • frad says:

no mitchell vs khan is not a fight i want to see. Mitchell is too small for light welterweight even though he beat a very big lightweight tonight. An excellent performance by him but i wanna see him fight murray and katsidis.

  • Jay S says:

damn… wish i could have seen this. i will have to settle for highlights i guess.

  • testicularfortitude says:

or maybe it’s something he’s feeding his fighters…

  • testicularfortitude says:

freddies fighters have been coming into fights much faster, stronger and unexpectedly overwhelming opponents…hatton needs to give freddie a call if he wanna come back and redeem himself

  • Davey says:

I say let them go there ways and meet at a later time cos by then the Fight will be even bigger!!

  • Abe says:

Surely it’s mitchell v khan that we the public all want to see.

  • Davey says:

Yes great night for British boxing Mitchell made Presscott look silly great boxing on the backfoot and counter punching , Amir has mad his point clear tonight and should go across the pond, Frankie boxed great too and showed good ring IQ by adjusting his style to a known hard puncher

  • haith says:

if he hasthe indisputed lightwelterweight title in mind im in his corner..if he decides to hold on to one belt for 10 years like calzage..i wont be impressed..

  • Sugar Ray Clay Jones Jr. says:

prescott is over rated, iv always said he is a one dimensional fighter, miguel vazquez showed the world how to beat prescott and kevin mitchell just confirmed it.

  • Anonymous says:

I find it odd people think Mitchell winning was an upset. Prescott hasn’t beaten anyone except Kahn, and was always just a big puncher. Nothing wrong with that, but against someone thatcan box he was always going to come unstuck.

  • Duh says:

hahaha..Gilfoid predicted that both Khan and Mitchell would lose..that guy’s a joke!

Great performance from both men; shame Khan didn’t go at least a few rounds..would’ve given us a better look at how much he’s improved! At least we know his power has.

  • bludgeon says:

Prescott was sloppy as hell, Salita was even worse. Good wins for the UK boys tonight! ;0)

  • stephen a says:

iv told yall before that prescott was over rated , khan now has his number

  • Sugar Ray Clay Jones Jr. says:

believe it or not, Khan V Mitchell would be a sell out up at upton park, after todays performance from mitchell – why not?

  • nameless says:

i knew this wouldn’t be a contest for Iron Khan. surely he should get better opposition.

  • mista H says:

Amir Khan is guna rule boxing!!

  • stephen a says:

as much as i want to see amir beat prescott id rather want to see a match up with the interim marcos maidana

  • stephen a says:

i think on that performance he cud knock prescott out
