Khan could vacate WBA title if forced to fight Maidana next

By Eric Thomas: According to news from Boxing Scene, WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan might vacate his World Boxing Association title if he’s forced to fight WBA interim champion Marcos Maidana (27-1, 26 KO’s). Maidana had to wait for the 23-year-old Khan to defend the WBA title against mandatory challenger Dmitriy Salita first, but now that Khan has successfully gotten past that fight with a 1st round knockout, Khan could have only 90 days to defend his title against Maidana, Rick Reeno reports. The WBA hasn’t yet ordered for Khan to defend his title next against Maidana but it looks it could happen. How will Khan be perceived if he vacates his title rather than fight Maidana?

maidana is a nobody and fought nobodys. khan will beat him the 12 rounds. maidana came up against kotelnik and lost to kotelnik, the guy khan schooled by UD. MAIDANA has basic skill nothing special just good power thats it. khan will overwhelm him with speed.

khan would probably be able to outbox maidana for most of the fight but maidana is a knock out king that’s all he looks for. maidana only needs one or 2 good punches to knock the sh&t out of khan.. and for that there is no way khan can survive 12 rounds without getting at least 5 good punches. look at ortiz he only actually took jst a few of maidana hard punches but it was enought to make him quick..maidana has iron fists!!

khan is a paper champion. Maidana would destroy him and his weak chin, sorry to say, but maidana would tear him up within 6 rounds. too much power.
khan has a glass jaw and not couragous enough to fight real punchers like maidan.not a plus for boxing.need a real champ.
I think he has 3 months to agree to fight him. Thats doesnt mean he actually has to fight him in 3 months. He just has to arrange a fight date. Am i right on that?
Been saying this for a while, khan will not face maidana he will vacate. if he does it shows that khan is a cherry picker.

Sylar- News 4ya m8, khan is a much, much better fighter than maidana., its nt even in question, and ortiz is good but that kid ent got the head to be a top class boxer, if ya ask me maidana got got lucky ortiz abadoned hid boxing and decided 2slug it, he wnt make that mistake again and nor will any1 else faceing maidana.
khan showed him self against salita but salita was rubbish but already hes got a mandatory challenger with less than 3 months to train not cool !
Please stop hyping up Maidana. He is very ordinary in terms of skill.
The same people who plead with others to stop using the argument that Kotelnik beat Maidana and then lost to Khan are the same as those who are ever so quick to jump on the ‘Khan’s got a glass chin’ bandwagon.
The reality is Maidana was schooled over 12 rounds whereas Khan was just caught cold with one of the first punches. That’s nothing to do with skill… it happens to the best of them – it’s how you come back that matters and Khan well and truly has.

I do believe Khan can out-box Maidana, the only problem for Khan is can he stay out of Maidana’s solid punches? And Khan will be the most coward boxer if he vacate his belt rather than fight Maidana.
