By Eric Thomas: In a recent news interview with Sports Talk 790, HBO analyst Max Kellerman says that World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao looks suspicious in the minds of boxing fans by not taking the Olympic style drug testing for his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr, which was supposed to be taking place on March 13th. On the radio program, Kellerman said “It [Pacquiao choosing not to take the random Olympic blood tests] makes him [Pacquiao] look really bad and suspicious.”
Kellerman added that he thinks that Pacquiao is a better overall fighter than Mayweather, but that Mayweather would still likely beat him if they fought because of his longer reach and bigger size.

Bioanalyst, I would love to see them use that testing method as a compromise and still keep the randomness. So far it has not been suggested.
Pacquiao is set where he is at at the moment. Who needs this fight? Floyd jr. At the moment he has nothing to put on the table but his 40-0. Pacquiao is P4P #1 and WBO champ. Pacquiao in all respect has done nothing wrong here. He is standing firm his ground along with the Nevada State Althletics Commission’s integrity. With the advanacement of nanotechnology, use of steroids in sports today is certain inescapable detection. Routine urinalysis is all you need. And on the issue who would Pacquiao fight if this negotiation falls through.. I think he would go Timothy Bradley’s way as he may be a bigger attraction rather than Malignaggi. Bradley is a champion in 140 and Pacquiao still is IBO and ring champ. Another title holder in 140 who is very interested is Devon Alexander. These fighters in 140 have no problems with the Nevada State Atlethic Commission dealing with prefight and postfight screening. These fighters have balls unlike Flod Jr. It might be interesting and exciting unification fight at 140 which Pacquiao would have no problem dropping to.

Have you guys ever heard about nanotechnology? Nanotrap is the method recently formulated to detect HGH in urine. The concept that no HGH can be detected in urine is wrong, HGH is always present in urine. it is the type of method that has to be implemented Reference: Creres Nanoscience in collaboration with George Mason University. Hopefully this will resolve the issue regarding random blood draws for Pacquiao. Venipuncture is a very invasive method that affect tough guys mentally. The biggest problem isn’t steroids. Steroids have very little benefit for boxers who participate in an endurance sport. The time of muscle mass developed would not help as much. A boxer makes power through technique and speed (especially at lighter weights), steroids would help neither. A boxer’s benefit would be to throw powerful punches MORE often, this would require an endurance boost.
Drugs that would help a boxer would be stuff cyclists would use. EPO and blood doping mainly. The problem with testing so close to fight time is you already have all of the benefits while using the stuff during training camp. It helps you recover and builds your endurance. The endurance boosts that you gain during training camp would last at least 1-2 weeks after you stopped taking them.
You have two of the biggest names in boxing making demands of each other. I’m a huge fan of both guys and followed them since the beginning of their careers. It would be a crime against boxing fans everywhere for this fight not to go forward based upon a demand for RANDOM drug testing. Scientific standards demand a procedure you cannot interject a schedule with huge intervals and expect accurate results.

I am sick and tired of hearing people say how Manny is hiding something because he refuses to take the blood test. First of all he never said that he didn’t want a blood test done, all he said was that the test be held a few days before the fight and right after the fight. Sure a simple blood test shouldn’t have an effect on people physically but it does have an effect on some people mentally. Why do you think some people are afraid to fly, or they are afraid of spiders, heck some people are even afraid to shake other people’s hands. It’s because it’s etched in their mind that something bad will happen to them, it’s all psychological. Some of you may not have any Phobia of anything, but some people do, so it’s hard for you to understand. Having said that,LET’S GET READY TO RUUUUUUUUUMBLE.
True steroids are taken in cycles, but no one can evade the results of the kidneys needing to flush out the ingested material. Again, even the perfect Performance enhancing drug HGH shows up in a urinalysis if administered within 48 hours of the material being ingested into the bloodstream. That and as the tests are administered they also look for masking agents. Limitless or daily pee tests will expose even the best tailored performance enhancing drugs. What needs to be monitored is blood doping. How much oxygen is inside the bloodstream at any given time? That’s the danger. More red blood cells=more energy and better recuperative powers. Please lets dispel the myths of how affective blood tests are. The best testing is hair sampling spinal taps and fat samples. So yes, while steroids can be expelled from the body and the effects will stick around for a while even after the cycle is done, we have to assume then that all people who perform at a high level are on PED’s? Come on now! Someone can go on a huge cycle months before training, and the Hormone level will dip down lower than when they were on the cycle, but it will remain much much higher for the duration of the training camp, than if they were naturally training. That’s a fact, but again steroids dont help with striking vision, or resistance to concussive force to the chin, nor does it put hours magically into the gym. What it does do however is give people license to discredit a really good sport and its best representative for this era. So lets put all the garbage aside Urinalysis if administered unbiased and regularly will expose any PED’s or masking agents. That’s how the human body works. Everyone who has ever taken any form of medical classes, or dealt with kidney issues, know that a thorough weekly pee test will show whats going on on a larger scale internally, a 24-48 hour pee test will even expose more.

For those who think that taking a blood test right after the fight is good enough, you truly don’t understand how steroids work. Steroids are taken in CYCLES and only during intense training. Then the athlete comes off the HGH a week or so before the event and his system is allowed flush out the evidence. Therefore, by taking a test right after the fight would effectively ensure a “clean” result because he would have stopped taking it at least a week prior. The benefit of taking HGH during intense training is to be able to push your body harder and further than humanly possible. The athlete would still retain the benefits of such hard training one week or so before the fight. So, the moral of the story is that taking a test after the fight is useless since all the athlete (who is taking HGH) has to do is to stop taking it a week or so before. Another thing to keep in mind is that Urine tests alone cannot detect all performane enhancing drugs. That’s why it is critical to have both blood and drug tests RANDOMLY, throughout the training camp. What eveyone is forgetting about is that Floyd will be subject to the same testing as Manny. So, the bottom line is Manny should just take the damn tests and take out his frustrations on Floyd in the ring. For $40 million he should really man-up and take the damn test. Obviously he is man enough to have numerous tattoos so he couldn’t be afraid of needles. I am no fan of floyd or manny, but because I have an intimate understanding of how HGH works, Manny sure looks like he has something to hide by wanting to take the test only after the fight.

Olympic-style drug testing is the way out for Mayweather. Mayweather knows that Pacquiao will agree to this test later. Why not ask any of his other opponents to undergo these tests? Just wait till he’s faced with a dangerous prospect in Manny, who he knows has this phobia/superstition, then start making these demands, which again, have never been made of any boxer in history.

The Pac that’s KO’d Cotto and Hatton would have done the same to Marquez. It really is amazing that he’s moved up in weight and not only win, but do so in dominating fashion against elite fighters. I think Mayweather or any other fighter is smart to double/triple check against performance enhancers… boxers put their lives on the line when in the ring. Manny has already agreed to a blood test right after the fight is over. Why is that not sufficient enough for Mayweather? It seems that Manny doesn’t want to use WADA Testing because he doesn’t want to be subject to their random testing close to the fight. People are taking this a step further saying since WADA tests for HGH Manny is resisting the tests. Why don’t they just take the blood sample from the post fight and submit it to WADA? Then they can write into the contract that if Manny tests positive he will forfeit his purse. If Mayweather can’t agree to that, then he really is blowing up this whole issue to harass Manny.
