Foreman wants to fight Cotto instead of fighting on Mayweather-Pacquiao undercard
By Peter Wells: Two Top Rank promoted fighters Yuri Foreman and Miguel Cotto are looking to a Light Middleweight showdown for Yuri’s World Boxing Association title in June. Yuri Foreman won the WBA belt against Cotto’s good friend Daniel Santos and after having talks with Pacquiao before Manny decided to fight Mayweather, he is now interested in bringing the Puerto Rican up a division.
This would be a good opportunity for former World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Cotto to rebuild his confidence but could also be risky if he isn’t able to get back to 147lbs again, but if the money is right he should take it, and he is also very interested as both Bob Arum and Wilson have said. There is no date set yet, but it should be in June.
Cotto will be the big favourite and would make for a great show on HBO, most likely it will be PPV, but I’m sure it will get plenty of buys. If Foreman does upset Cotto then most people will just say Miguel was out of his weight class, while others will want him to retire, while if Cotto wins people won’t be too shocked and both fighters will be able to carry on with their separate careers.

cotto would have jabbed like he did in the first round he could have won the fight easily against pacman. look at the fourth round again he had the round won until he forgot to box started throwing haymakers and mannys hands r way to fast for that
foreman vs cotto would be interesting.
on the other hand, why does this site publish article for public blogging yet they allow $hittie writers like Manuel Perez to choose which response blog to delete and post?
this site will not live long if this policy remains the same. you publish apple you get apple. you publish cr@p you get cr@p. that’s internet.
c’mon boxingnews24.com.. you can do better than having the likes of Manuel Perez and Liam Santiago around.
its unbelievable how this paquiao haters always come up with excuses, every time manny win against great fighter they always say something stupid that don’t make sense.
hold on hold on cott at even a middle weight khan fans crying oh why fight gamboa r valero but he aint a lightweight no more but its fne for cotto to fight at middle this sems double standards r fact of the matter khan could see the lightweight division hotting up and his scared as ran off
cottos chin is always there when he is not weight drained. Pac at 147 would of lost.
W.W DIVISION IS CROWRED WITH GOOD TALENT COTTO IS ONE OF THOSE BUT NOT AT CATCHWEIGHT WITH NOBODYELESE LIKE WITH “PACMAN” BIG MISTAKE HE MADE FOR THAT FIGHT MOVING UP TO THIS WEIGHT DIVISION WE ALL SAW IT COMMING BEFORE THE LAST FIGHT ARUM KNEW HE HAD TO BE COMPENSATED AFTER A LOST TO PACQUIAO AND GET REEDEMTION AND OF COURSE MO MONEY . GENTLEMENS THIS IS A BUSSINESS LIKE ANY OTHER AND EVERYBODY GOT A PRICE TAG.
This is Cotto’s chance to prove that he is also a great boxer.
being a pacquiao fan, i saw a lot of decency and unleashed potential from cotto. i’d like him to succeed even in 154lb. i just hope he accepts the idea of boosting his training camp and replace his mediocre trainor. i think it will not be good for a boxer to run his own training camp.
Interesting move on Cotto’s part. On the HBO 24/7, looked like he really had to starve himself to make weight. Maybe he is better off at a higher weight division. What I like about Cotto is he does not complain or make excuses… he just shows up to fight.
I can’t wait to see a great champion like Cotto on the ring again. I will be glad to pay the PPV Charge…
definately joe!
JOE I AGREE WITH YOU
Cotto still has a lot to offer at a higher weight, I think he was always a big WW and L middle would suit him a lot better
