Devon Alexander- Bradley or Khan in sight
Photo: Tom Casino/Showtime – By Peter Wells: After American youngster Devon Alexander won the vacant World Boxing Council Light Welterweight crown in a fight against former champion Junior Witter the world has suddenly opened up for him. After retiring Witter after 8 rounds he can now look to a much brighter future and at only 22 he has a long time to take.
Bradley hasn’t been beaten yet and now isn’t short of top class opposition, beating Junior Witter, Ednar Cherry, Kendall Holt, Nate Campbell but this did end as a no-contest although Tim was going to win clearly anyway and last night there was Lamont Peterson. Bradley isn’t scared of defending his title and is willing to take on everyone in the packed division. Finally there is Khan who hasn’t really been tested, he lost his only fight by first round KO to Breidis Prescott who has been proved twice on the trot he isn’t a world class fighter. Since then Khan has beaten Marco Antonio Barrera on cuts, but was going to win anyway, he won the title off one dimensional Andreas Kotelnik and has defended once by destroying unknown Dmitriy Salita in one. So Khan hasn’t had a big test yet and Alexander would love to return to the UK and beat another British champ in their backyard.
If these fights don’t work out just yet there are plenty more fights out there for him, and many more willing to give him a huge challenge. These include Marcos Maidana who has been linked with a fight against Devon who wouldn’t be a huge risk as Alexander proved he had a good chin and should be able to outwork Marcos all the way. Also there is Paulie Malignaggi especially after beating Juan Diaz, which would make him a worthy challenger. Victor Ortiz is another option, Victor has been exposed before and could get taken out again, and will be up for a world title challenge soon enough. Nate Campbell or Kendall Holt would also be good challenges but would most likely be criticized even if he wins convincingly.
So Alexander has been planted in the right division at the right time and looks to have plenty of great fights, Juan Manuel Marquez could be another option and big fights will unfold, as long as he isn’t fighting for the money then we should get some very entertaining fights in this division.

let me tell all yall this I too know devon personally. please understand people that this dude is a monster, coolest person outside the ring but will make the “BEST” fighters look stupid. he made chop chop corley look bad, stopped witter, bradley lost to his year older brother Vaugn Alexander in amateurs, bradley vacanted his title so he wouldnt have to fight devon, and roach dont want khan to fight him, he even called pacquiao out said ” I will fight him now without a blood test.” now watch him beat urango march 6, and do your homework before you start hatein
James Boatright. When is he getting back in the ring?
Well boys,I know devon personally, and i have for years now. There is no fighter out there in his weight class that could even touch him, hands down this guy will be the next superstar in boxing.James,st.louis missouri
BRADLEY IS A FREE SWINGING AMATEUR AS IF HE’S IN THE GOLDEN GLOVES…. KHAN WILL SIDESTEP AND SHARPSHOOT HIM ALL NIGHT LONG, AND THEN KNOCK HIM OUT… FREDDY WILL DESIGN A PLAN, BUT BRADLEY IS VERY PREDICTABLE ANYWAY….
alexander beat quitter witter in u.s
amir khan fighting these guys is slim and none
oli talks sense scotty your full of druell
You’re crazy if you think Tim Bradley was going to “clearly win” the fight against “The Galaxy Warrior”. He won the first 3 rounds clearly would be a more accurate way to state it. Ali Funeka was beating him for the first half of the fight too, but we all saw how that played out in the end. Timothy is a retarded as bible thumping like the rest of the Jesus fiends. He does not know god and he is not that great of a boxer. I hope he fights Devon Alexander and gets his the false religion beaten out of him.
khan should fight victor ortix next.
khan needs to fight every month.
Watch out- Im from manchester england u twit and ul be doing nothing!
Why should bradley have to come here to fight khan? Lets see it on the mayweather vs pacquiao undercard now thats something worth paying for. And if Khan fights bradley then il have to credit him at long last even tho i think bradley wins easily
I do think on skill and talent alone Khan is the best in the division. Ofcourse you need the chin to go with the talent., Kotelnik hit him a couple of times, didnt do anything but all these top boys have a bit more bite in their fists.
i agree scotty, witter is awful, khan wud beat alexander for real
khan is the next best fighter
It really is a division jam packed with talent. Im a big Bradley fan, think Alexander is very good, Khan, Ortiz and even Malanaggi are very good boxers.
come on now! he’s only 22.
Khan is the boy. He has the talent, the trainer and the title. Now he has taken care of his mandatory(in style) he will clean up the division, he is at the top still young and wont hide from anyone.
All of you are talking absolute rubbish.Witter undisputed champ, watch out!!!!!!!!!!!!
Khan has a far better record than Alexander. He won the belt against a pathetic Junior Quitter and that is the only known name on his resume.
How come he hasn’t defended his title yet? Ionut Dan Ion is ranked as their number 1 contender and he looks on a par with Salita.
“Alexander would love to return to the UK and beat another British champ in their backyard”. I think you meant Bradely mate, Alexander hasn’t fought outside the US.
What Oli if your American I will smash your nation to bits – Amir deserves respect!!
dont expect khan to step up and take a challenge. Its not in his nature as we have already seen
